Good Morning Friday 11th August 2023

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and sunny
Welcome Fassie good to see you and enjoy your trip to Italy
Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day here and I spent most of it pottering in the garden. Not sure of our plans yet today, will see later
Have a lovely time at the wedding tomorrow llfl and congratulations to the happy couple! 🥂💕
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all. Yesterday was a day of recovery following 2 full on days of childcare. I spent some time in the garden as it was warm but can’t say it was particularly sunny. In fact there was thick dark cloud at times.

I’ve enjoyed reading about BlueSapphire’s cruise as we were on the same ship last year. I wasn’t that keen on the layout of the Cape Bar but loved the light and airy feel of the big open plan area with the bar and live music. I agree that the Crew show was very good.

Glad to see those recovering from their ops are getting better. Thinking of those as always, who are facing an uphill struggle. Have a good day all.

GM, DH and I have legal and medical attorney for each other, after having to deal with Social work, regarding my mum's care.
When I was in hospital recently, that was one of the first questions I was asked. The nurse said, having medical POA, made my care so much easier.

We updated our wills at the same time, because my friend had to go to court because her wealthy husband died, had everything in his name and left no will. We were astonished, because he was a very savvy business mum.

Good morning, a grey sky here on the edge of the Cotswolds but the sun’s trying to come through.
After a very restless night for no obvious reason I won’t be doing much today other than weeding and the starting an abstract watercolour I think.
Yesterday I cleaned from top to bottom, did three loads of washing which dried beautifully, walked DDog and picked a large bowl of runner beans that I gave to my neighbours. I do love runner beans!
🌹

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle. It hasn't been staying that way though recently, we've had a lot of cloud.
Yesterday, after housework etc, I got out to do quite a bit of deadheading, that's about all there is to do at the moment.
Today, I have an ultrasound scan at the hospital and can't eat anything for 4 hours beforehand. It's mid-morning so I was up at 5.30am for a light breakfast and coffee. No way could I survive until nearly midday without food. I shall try to keep mentally occupied to take my mind off it.

You're right about Edinburgh Marydoll, I was there a fortnight ago and was amazed at the multitudes crowding the pavements. A very international crowd and so different from when I used to live nearby as a teen. I was glad I was only overnighting on my way north.

Welcome to you, Fassie, let's keep hearing from you.

And have the best possible day all of you.

Good morning. Not had time to read through yet, so will come back later.
Just finishing packing and then off to the Isle of Wight with DD3 and two little DGSs.
Wishing all a good day.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Sunny this morning.
I ache this morning and had an uncomfortable night in parts from weeding yesterday. Lots of getting up and down.

Off to do the weekly shop this morning and visiting family.

Not read any posts yet but I did notice your lovely quilting Mattie. Now you’ve been living in Brizzle for a while do you like living there?

Have a good day all 🪷

Good morning from a muggy W Kent. Off to shop this morning. DD2 and GC will go back to their home over the weekend although it isn’t really habitable. Not sure if they are coming back here next week. Just going with the flow as much as possible. This afternoon is U3A
The patchwork is beautiful gM.
Yes do think about POA we were glad we had it for mum.
Welcome to Fassie
Sorry about the road rage Marydoll a horrible experience
All the best

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Oxfordshire, I hope it stays fine today.

Hairdresser will be here in half an hour so I’m up showered and dressed early.p after a rubbish night.

I cooked last night as we have some people over tonight for a meal and I didn’t want my freshly washed hair to smell of Chilli.

Apart from that an easy day

Good to meet you Fassie

Hope everyone has a good day, best wishes to the poorlies and their families.

Morning Mick, Morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset

Welcome fassie. Our son is just returning from a holiday in Italy via France and Switzerland. They've had a wonderful time, no problem at Dover, an early crossing saw them aboard ship in 90 minutes. Not bad at all.

Mr C slept most of the day yesterday after his exploits on Wednesday. I’m preaching pacing. It seems there’s an issue with his hearing aids!

Can’t stop, need to resume my pharmacist role. Thank goodness for the chart I made. I’ll be back to read properly later.

Hope the day is as good as it can be for us all.

I read earlier Marydoll that when you get a husband the ears are sold separately 🤣

Good Morning from a mostly sunny S Yorks.

Welcome Fassie.

Meeting a friend later at the Botanical Gardens, otherwise a quiet day.

Bests for poorlies and carers of poorlies, and may outings be enjoyed.

Off shortly for a hearing aid check. I tend to only wear them when I am likely to be with other people so that I can join in any and all conversation which will incur a justified lecture from the technician. Nothing else planned though will distribute some jars of plum jam to various kind neighbours.

Good morning from Sefton where our room temperatures are already 24C. As Gala says, we’re having more glorious sunshine.
👍 Mizuna. Wow - love the quilt design Mattie.
A quiet day for us, sans DGC and DGdogs.
Thoughts, as always, to those who are unwell and those who are worried.
🌻🌻🌻

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday was exhausting😩Mum was in a dreadful mood. She had got up and been for a long walk on what was a very hot day.By the time we arrived she was exhausted and said she would not be having, her eyes tested. It had taken months to get this appointment. She then insisted on walking to the village pub for lunch with me and DGD but half way there had had enough🤦🏼‍♀️Her mood only got worse.H found grumpy great grandma hilarious but DGD found it upsetting😢

Today will hopefully be a better day.Baking and manicures for M and I while H and grandpa are going to make an orca out of two cardboard boxes. One has already had its first coat of paint.

Will go back and read everyone’s posts now.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Oh Marydoll what a dreadful roadrage experience. It is usually worth reporting but best if you have the number plate.
I reported an incident last week almost killed by a speeding idiot who hooted at us my friend got half the number and we were able to speak to police and report to our council. I want the 20mph extended and a pedestrian crossing.
If you don't ask you certainly don't get!
Half the number wasn't enough . We were told 371 Corsas answered our description!

Good morning,
Another fine day predicted today, so I’ve risked a washing load to go out shortly. Although the temp reached 27 degrees yesterday on the thermometer, a gentle breeze took the edge off, making it quite pleasant.
A fairly lazy day planned so far.
Welcome Fassie to this pleasant thread. Enjoy your time at the seaside today, and have a lovely trip to Italy.

Good morning from a very warm Durham. A lovely day on the cards.
Coffee this morning with a friend, then I might meet another later. She had to cancel meeting up yesterday due to DGC duty. She wasn’t happy.
I don’t often go into the City Grandmachrisy47 and usually drive, (tried park&ride once to say I’d used it). Luckily, I’d been aware of a random queue on Milburngate Bridge when driving home, so knew where to wait. Did you find (as a resident) the City as bad and run down as I do?
Harri I’m envious. Used to do evening spas there years ago - it included a meal in that very restaurant - I can see the sticky rice and Thai prawn curry!!
Such a lot of intolerance on the roads, isn’t there? I recall waiting at a box junction in Newcastle’s Haymarket when a car overtook me, another undertook and both sat on the yellow hatch, blocking the junction!
Welcome to Fassie.
Thinking of absent friends and those caring for their poorlies.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Welcome Fassie
Glad you have a friend grandmattieand getting stuck into your patchwork!
Yes, Marydoll my DH keeps trying to do jobs that I normally do because they are associated with men. It takes twice as long with me fetching and carrying and trying to tell him what to do!
I will have to read the rest of the posts later or this will never get done
Our photoshoot yesterday was not quite what I expected. It was great fun and we get paid for it! It was advertising for an old folks home! I wondered if I’d get out!! We were working with another elderly couple, two photographers a director and two actresses. The actress I was working with has been in Adverts, and has a film coming out. It was all very exciting and enjoyable. She is a lovely girl. We were fed and watered. The home was nice too!
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from sunny Shropshire
Washing out and the lawn cut,we share the job so not so tiring.
Had my Cardiology appt yesterday at a private hospital( feel guilty about it but getting nowhere with nhs).
Nice chap, easy to talk to .
Will have a 2 week cardiac monitor, sent through the post and return same way.
Another appt in a month when he will have results and find out what to do next.
Feel somewhat reassured that at least something is being done.
Might sort out the pots in the garden as some of the bedding plants are finished then a trip to the garden centre to see what’s on offer for the autumn.
Best wishes to those struggling with one thing and another.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning from s somerset and it is warm, very bright and sunny

My cryotherapy procedure was to remove actinic keratosis, pre-cancer to squamous cell carcinoma over half my nose. I went private because I had noticed the skin changes but it wasn`t really visible. I would have been last in the gp queue but I wanted speed and the treatment was done and dusted in two weeks, not 12 months. So my nose is red raw and still weeping clear, healing, fluid. It affects my well-being so I am remaining conscious of resting because the body needs rest to heal. Follow up in 3 months

I did potter yesterday but never moved at top speed, lots of washing done and made a toile of a dress. Should have made a size bigger but the fabric isn`t good quality, the ribbing is, so I am removing ribbing to salvage. A toile is always a good test on a new pattern

Today, only slow mo sewing, I cut out a tried and tested dress pattern in a patterned linen from stash

Traumas are nasty, well done Marydoll for working through it with grace and dignity. The roads are definitely getting worse due to nasty drivers

Good morning from a bright , but very breezy Co Armagh.
A new coffee shop has opened across the square , so my neighbour and I are going to suss it out , and wish them good luck
Must put my hearing aids in , we both wear them , but sometimes we forget and then it’s hard work chatting 🤣

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Had a nice day with my DD from the south yesterday after a Drs’ appointment to speed things up re my troublesome hernia. I’ve been waiting since last September to be referred.

We had a nice lunch in the open and I bought a white cotton jacket in a sale. Then to a very eccentric place ‘The Lawnmower Museum’, a real one off I think. Lawnmowers donated by well known people, one a wedding gift from the ill fated Prince and Princess of Wales and roomfuls of ancient lawnmowers.
DD leaves today, I’ll miss her, but need to get on with practising for concerts.
Get well soon karmalady, nice work grandMattie and thoughts to all with troubles of any kind.

Good morning everyone from sunny south Manchester. Just popping in to say I do read this lovely thread most days. My life has changed out of all recognition and many days I’m too sad to post. I tend to just post now occasionally on ‘opinion threads’ as I don’t need to reference our trials and tribulations. I just wanted to say this morning I too really enjoyed ‘The Marriage Portrait’ when I read it a few months ago.

I do love reading about your happy days and ‘doings’ plus the weather. Love to all and thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Very kind.
x

Oh Urms, a virtual hug to you across the miles.
