British Sitcoms? Which is your favourite and why?

The Ab Fab film came on after Eurovision last night and I found myself watching it. I’m sure that, at the time it had pretty bad reviews and I never bothered to watch it: would certainly not have gone to a cinema to see it. But I loved what bits I saw last night: so many famous cameos in it. My neighbour has a dog called Lulu and I must really get on her nerves because I always find myself calling her LooLoo. Going to snuggle down and watch the whole film on catchup tonight.

The good life (brilliant to watch but Tom would in real life be a pain as a neighbour!)
The wonderful Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister, which when shown today are still totally relevant and politicians should have to watch them to see how NOT to behave!

Dinner Ladies and any Victoria Wood programmes . I love the ballad of Freda and Barry!
Dads Army where they are all so good in each part but of course the "dont tell him Pike" was a great episode but also I love the one where captain mainwarings brother turns up. Arthur Lowe plays them both wonderfully and it is worth watching

Oh I can see most of them are very old, but still great to cheer you up.

Dinner Ladies….. I adored everything Victoria Wood did … but with Dinner Ladies she ‘nailed’ people!

I loved almost everything that Victoria Wood did, she was such a talented lady and I'm sure she had a lot more to give. She died too soon.
For some reason, I couldn't get to grips with Dinner Ladies. I thought the script was too contrived and the characters too extreme.
I also thought that she gently mocked people who were not as clever as she was.

Never liked steptoe , fawlty towers and mrs brown s boys.

Yes Antonia, I've watched Derry Girls a few times and the show still makes me laugh out loud...love it.

Love Mum Greenfinch, Leslie Manville is fabulous in almost anything.
Lisa McGrillis as her daughter in law is very good too, I loved her in Inspector George Gently.

Of the modern ones I enjoyed Motherland, This Country, The Offenders , King Gary and Two Doors Down. I also like at the moment Black ops about two dreadful PCSOs

I agree with Only Fools and Horses but I think my all-time favourite is Ever Decreasing Circles. It is gentle, adult humour without resorting to bad language and all the characters are sympathetically drawn. Richard Briers, as Martin, a man with OCD and very obvious, these days, Asperger’s Syndrome (it was not really known about in the eighties but we all knew someone like him) is very clever in portraying a vulnerable, irritating yet kind-hearted character, who always wants to do the right thing whatever the consequences, to perfection and the supporting cast are equally accomplished.

Royal family, observation comedy at its best . Shame most of the cast are no longer with us . I love the documentary with Ralph and Ricky in the camper van bought from the actor who played twiggy

Still Game is absolutely hilarious!! I live in North East England and we were vroadcait years ago! If you get chance to watch it, it's well worth it!!
