Well I’ve had a laugh on Valentine’s evening.

Himself had peeled the potatoes and carrots before he left. I cut the sweetheart cabbage up after he’d gone out and set the table. I opened the fridge half an hour ago to take the pork out. Hmm. Rang Himself at the training ground.

“Go on, give me a clue”.
“What?”
“Where did you put the pork?”
Silence.
Mind ticking over ...
“I went to the self service at Aldi. Have you checked the fridge?”

Aargh! No shit Sherlock!

Down in the lift, across the square to the very brightly lit Aldi.
Yep. Here they are, but choose another pack lovey as these haven’t been in the fridge.

Gosh, you Grandma’s all deserve medals, I rarely had ours during school holidays as I was still working f/t, MrJ the same, overnight sometimes here, as we do now, or sitting at theirs.
Nose has behaved thus far, I get nosebleeds soop it’s been cauterised before, but I keep seeking a permanent solution.
Cleared some garden debris for the bin to go out tomorrow night, more to do at the weekend, the grasses need cut down. I’d usually start sowing indoors soon, but I’m wary of the possible bad weather some are predicting in mid March, so holding back.
Just a cottage pie for dinner, with cauli and sprouts, I made a heart in the mash, does that count!!

I don't post very often here but I do read about your exciting lives every day.
This morning we returned our air fryer to Tesco's for a refund. We had only had it since November and the light had stopped working. It cannot be replaced, a serious design fault.
A chat with DD1 this afternoon. 13, soon to be 14, year old DGD has recently had braces fitted and is really struggling with them. Apparently she is barely eating and is very unhappy.
I'm going to stay with them at the end of next week so a big cuddle is on the cards.
DH bought me 3 bunches of daffs this afternoon, I love daffs, very cheery.

Oh Sar53 I really feel for your 14y old granddaughter. It’s an age when they are super-sensitive about their looks. When our Yorkshire Lass was that age with braces (30+ now!) I showed her (by covering my mouth with a piece of paper) that a smile isn’t just about ‘the teeth’ and that how a proper smile lights up the eyes too. Happily my demonstration worked and she felt a bit more confident about giving it a go.

I understand your concerns.
They are real to her and I do hope she can manage to overcome her anxieties.
We feel for them don’t we?

These braces are to try and change the shape of her jawline. She will probably need to wear them for 6/9 months. After that it's train track braces to straighten her teeth.
I think a lot of her friends have braces as does her 14 year old cousin. I think they are really uncomfortable and making her very unhappy.
Yes we certainly do worry for them.

Middle son had braces with a head brace (the one that is near you) so uncomfortable and constant battles, youngest son has had two stints of braces once as a teenager and then early twenties.

As adults they are now embarking on the brace journey again, hopefully as they are paying they will be more diligent.

Sar your poor dgd. Being a teenager is difficult enough. Definitely give lots of cuddles. Thank you ladies for your kind comments. An early night for me

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Home again after our wee break, I'm relaxing with a chilled PG cos I did all the driving!

We didn't go back in the hot tub this morning cos it was 3 degrees and frosty in Dunbar. We had a good breakfast in the hotel, DH always chooses the full Scottish when we are away, but I had tasty scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, enjoying the wonderful views.

We dotted about the coastal route, visiting Dunbar Castle ( ruins) and harbour in the morning, and East Fortune Museum of Flight in the afternoon. DH was in his glory, visiting the Concorde Experience. What a beautiful piece of engineering. We were actually allowed inside, I wasn't expecting that! Also, in the Military hangar he saw several of the types of engines that he spent his working life repairing and salvaging. He worked in Rolls Royce for over 40 years, man and boy...

Tea time found us wolfing down fish and chips in North Berwick, before heading home, listening to BBC Radio Scotland's Valentine's special, lots of good music and heartwarming stories.

Back to reality, washing machine loaded, I will enjoy catching up on all your news now.

Sar53 our granddaughter Imogen has had them too, she’s 16 later this year, she hated the first ones, took them out to eat, lost them, accidentally? debatable, they were found.
It’s very hard for them, even though friends have them, I can’t offer much to help, but lots of tlc and ignoring them when she was with us helped her.

Spent the morning with the president WI, learning the ropes before I take over in April. Not what I intended when I retired!
We are trying to get the garden straight but it’s still early and I need to stop myself from planting yet.

We’ve got a very unhappy almost 14 year old too sar. Not over braces but goodness, doesn’t your heart ache for them. So hard when we can’t fix things for them.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I’ve been struggling with neurofatigue lately and have not felt up to posting. In fact I seem to be sleeping much of the time. Now that sunset is falling later I’m starting to feel better. We have had a few lovely sunny days, yesterday I managed a short walk around the marina, and promptly fell asleep when I got home. I’m having to choose what I spend my supply of energy on. Today has been more blood tests, the usual kidneys, calcium, electrolytes, etc. They will contact me if anything needs further attention.

Lovely to see you posting, Blossoming. The Marina looks like such a nice place for a walk.
We should have been at out DDs yesterday for a visit and sleepover but my DH had a low cortisol episode and spent the night being sick and the day sleeping. It takes over your life, doesn’t it? He doesn’t seem to be able to see it coming until too late and only applies his protocol for taking extra medication when its almost too late. Very frustrating!
So instead of spending time with the GCn having fun, I crocheted my first fingerless glove. Maybe I’ll do the second one today. Sadly that’s my chance of seeing the GCn gone, as they are off to see their other GPs for the second half of the week. So I must admit to a few tears yesterday.

Onwards and upwards, as they say.

I wish that I could commission a special medal for our wonderful Grans who manage to cope with some extremely tricky occasions. I am in awe of your patience and tenacity. WELL DONE!

Sar When our granddaughter was fitted with braces, several other of her friends were coping with the same "learning curve". She is now in her thirties. Her teeth are beautiful. It was well worth her persevering. I so wish that in my childhood, my teeth could have been straightened. But, it wasn't considered a priority in the 1940s.

Grannmarie Wow! You have most certainly packed a lot of experiences into your short visit to Dunbar. Great photo. I envy you the fish and chips.

Hello all. I assume Mr Soop is recovered now?
Our decorator is still here. He had to come a little late as he was unwell. His partner is working on a friend’s house (bright Orange walls in the lounge apparently) and popped round to tell us. OH had been a little wary of the oranges and lemons wallpaper on all four walls, but likes it now. I hope he will like the curtains with black monkeys sitting in green trees! I chased them up today and they should arrive imminently. It is WI tonight so I am all prepared for that. Annoyingly I had another migraine today but the sumatriptan worked pretty well. I am off to Kew tomorrow afternoon for a couple of days so I need to be on the ball. I haven’t seen elder son and his partner and my granddaughter since Christmas. Time has flown. My daughter has Friday off so will come down to Kew from where she lives in south London and I’ll drive us both back home. She likes to visit Oxfordshire every six weeks or so. The ‘new’ room won’t be ready so she’ll have to sleep in the downstairs study/bedroom. Have a good evening. I think we’re having chicken curry for dinner.

Saw my G.P today after a week of extreme itching.It seems I have an overload of histamine caused by the steroids.A drug that keeps on giving!!I now have pills and potions so hopefully will do the trick.
We had Oscar yesterday took him to the park and then the garden centre,he loves it?He is full on being ADHD needs lots of stimulation but a joy nevertheless.
