Oh Urms. . How appalling that someone who truly needs care is finding it so hard to get anyone to attend to him. I hope tomorrow is a better one. Xx
‘Evening All’
I have concerns. My stepfather rang early this morning. He’d had another 2 hour nose bleed at midnight. This poor man. It’s a good job he’s not a ‘panicker’. He did everything the hospital doctor told him to do too, to try to stop the bleeding. Two hours! He must have been exhausted and shaky.
Himself said “I think it’s time to involve his GP”. I agreed. I rang the surgery. Told them it was urgent. They had all the electronic details on the screen from Monday’s hospital visit. I said he urgently needs a vitamin B12 injection. Receptionist said ‘yes that’s what it says here’.
I requested a home visit.
No one came. Not even a courtesy call to a 90y old man to update him.
I told him at 7pm to go to bed. He’s shattered. He has promised to call me in the night if he can’t cope. We are on stand by. I hope he gets a good night’s sleep he needs to.
If the surgery don’t call him tomorrow I’m going over to see his doctor on Friday morning before the weekend kicks in, when everything gets put ‘on hold’ till Monday, to sort this out. How do the elderly cope if they have no-one?
Rant over.
Himself is watching some football. I’m addicted to Happy Valley it’s making me so tense, the acting is superb. I’m on the last episode of series one. I love the deadpan lines delivered by Sarah Lancashire.
I hope my phone doesn’t ring. I’m on high alert.

Brook I’ve enjoyed going to Brodie Castle at daffodil time. Last time we were there we got chatting to one of the gardeners. He told us a tale of how they grow new strains of daffodil and plant them out in beds to see if they’re worth cultivating further. One year, a small child visited and helpfully pulled out all the name labels from one of the nursery beds. Apparently, she was ‘tidying up’. 😫😳😂
We had a lot of post again today. It seems that Wednesday is now our mail day because we have only had post on Wednesdays that last three weeks. 🤔 There were more Christmas cards, including two different cards, both written and signed by the same person, put into just the one envelope. I’m trying to figure out the meaning of that!
I’ve tidied out the medicine chest, getting rid of quite a few vastly out of date meds. I also sorted out the under-the-sink cupboard and made that more rational. We popped into town for a while, too. The afternoons are drawing out a bit already - it wasn’t completely dark at 4:30 today.

Good Wednesday afternoon greetings to our lovely lot.
Can you believe that we are just over half way to needing a new kitchen? It's true that time flies when enjoying good company.
Earlier today, we had coffee with a friend and her daughter who live in the village. Our friend's daughter is having a colostomy in three weeks' time. She has suffered ill health for several years. We are all looking forward to her returning home after surgery and to her health issues greatly improved.
Urms Your dear stepfather is a trooper. Bless him. May he rest well and recover his strength after his recent ordeal.
brook Most grans are "pushovers" when it comes to negotiating with grandchildren. I have fond memories of agreeing to read a bedtime story and being persuaded that three or four is a far better deal. 
It is piddling with rain. I have started my post festive diet. The Xmas decorations are begging to be removed. Mr Soop went to the village for bread and returned home with a cooked chicken. Need I say more? Sweetie Pie (feral cat) is expected to visit us for breakfast/lunch/supper time soon. Clears throat.

As Maw says ... I was ‘zorsted’ earlier! In a good way. We minded the grandchildren. I hated the alarm going off at 6:30pm jolting is from our slumbers!
The Boy Wonder loves his PlayStation. L’il Miss whispered “I think he loves his PS more than me”. Aw!
We had a ‘boy’s camp’ and a ‘girl’s camp’. The Boy Wonder wanted lunch at home (Himself can do hot dogs & ketchup!) and L’il Miss and I went to the independent café round the corner from theirs ... she took her colouring book and felt tips, plus a soft dog toy (as you do) because ‘it’s his turn grandma’. Fair enough.
I rang my stepfather (no apology needed soop) and was heartened to here (a) he’d had no further nosebleeds (is that cream working so soon?) and (b) he’d caught up on his sleep ... good style. Apparently he went to bed last night at 7pm and apart from 2 bathroom visits, slept solidly for 14 hours. Wowzer! I said to him he’d had 2 night’s worth in one session. He is still very tired. I told him that was to be expected until the iron tablets kick in and, in time, the vitamin B12 injections too. Anyway, for now, he’s doing well. Thank you dear kitcheners for your sweet concern. x
Ali23 Pop in any time. You can spend an afternoon "educating" me. I only ever use the computer to visit Gransnet. It suits my level of intelligence.
hulahoop I'm intrigued. Must take a look at the Sherpa bed set.
We're having one last taste of Xmas goodies. Bank holiday Tuesday (in Scotland) is to blame.

Our lovely, kind, long-suffering neighbour popped in for morning coffee. He gave us a smart phone ages ago. We still haven't mastered it. Isn't it sad when, instead of a smart phone with bells and whistles, we two oldies still prefer a basic old-fashioned thingy, minus the bells and whistles. The local mast has been out of action for almost three months. Apparently, "spares" for repair have not yet been supplied. Hence, our trusty old-fashioned Nokia cannot function. So...the kind neighbour continues to attempt to drag us into the modern world.
