At this time of the year ... anyone else fancying a glass of sherry before dinner?

Not keen on sherry but if I have one it has to be Crofts.

I did Glugg (mulled wine) the other night for family who came round to watch Santa come round on his sleigh courtesy of the Round Table. I don’t actually like it.

What I do like at Christmas is a nice glass of port especially with some nice cheese and crackers. I recommend the M&S port.

Absolutely! We've been stocking up on Croft Particular whenever it has been on offer, and are starting on Sunday, 11am aperitifs :D I'll think of you ;) be nice to know we're not alone x

Sadly, however much I would love an occasional glass of sherry, preferably Walnut Brown if it still exists, I have to stick to the virtual kind, as DH is an alcoholic who mangages not to drink, so we never have any form of alcohol in the house.

Might be too late to join you Urmston but I would have ordered a wine. Any colour will do! Sherry reminds me if mum's tipple. EMA cream, QC sherry or her favourite Harvey's Bristol cream. In Spain, love a bacardi and coke, or G&T. Doesn't taste the same in chilly England. Might have something to do with the measures 😉.

I’ll be making (yet another) batch of mince pies this afternoon as my gf pastry fame seems to be spreading and DD’s friend and her son, who are both coeliac, have gobbled up all the ones I made last Saturday!

Aldi’s cheapo medium sherry will go in the mincemeat and a glass of PX will be sipped from my mum’s favourite crystal sherry glass.

I do like to uphold family traditions. 😂

The only time I have a Sherry is whilst cooking Sunday roast. I have some fine Chrystal Sherry glasses that were my grandmothers. A nice medium Sherry just leads up to lunch perfectly 😁

I don't really drink any more but ginger wine goes down well in the cold. Husband puts whisky in his, making it Whisky Mac, but I just have the Mac.

I used to drink cream sherry with lemonade, a lot.

Pedro Ximenez is my favourite - it's so wintery and warming.

I like to have a bottle of very dry sherry in the cupboard either to drink or to add to a sauce or a pudding, not that I make many puddings! I think it's one of those drinks that is making a comeback.

A glass of chilled fino and tapas in an Andalusian square is one thing but it's not quite the same back in Blighty - bit like limoncello, it's all in the ambience!

I'm rather partial to a Pimm's in the summer. Unfortunately, living in Scotland, summer usually falls nine o'clock in the morning on a Monday in May so a bit early to take to alcohol 😃

Used to get drunk on Mainland Cream sherry with my friends back in the day. It was cheap horrible disgusting stuff, tasted like cough mixture, but it did the trick! Couldn't touch it now though. I remember my mum used to love a schooner of sherry.

One of these nights Urmstongran you are going to be so shocked when I walk into that wine bar.
Just two short train journeys, free to me, and I will be there.
No sherry thankyou, G&T or a cocktail will be wonderful.

Glass of sherry before putting up the decorations (also before opening the presents) takes me right back to when the DDs were small. Too Pepe then, manzanilla now.
Must have gone out of fashion when wine became much cheaper after we joined the common market.
