I used to giggle at the road sign “ Littleover 3 miles” when I lived in Derby
My children always giggled at curry rivell when driving to North Devon on holiday, although my favourite to say is Huish Episcopi

nanna8, many years ago we had a map on which Mt Buggary in Victoria was shown as Mt (expletive deleted).

Wetwang!

The Mayor of Wetwang is Look North's weatherman, Paul Hudson. He often gets teased about it by Peter Levy the presenter.

Tickhill is in S.Yorkshire, I used to live just down the road.

The funniest place name I have seen was Wankdorf in Germany, our boys spotted it first on a road trip, apparently people keep stealing the signs😬.

I believe it is really Tick Hill which isn’t an improvement, reminds me of Nitshill in Glasgow.

Pratts Bottom in Kent

There’s a village a few miles from me called Three Cocks.

We have two villages in next county Ugly and Nasty..
The WIs decided to name their local groups the WI of Ugly and WI of Nasty...better than the alternative.
We have a Wibblywobbly Lane.
Lilly Bottom

As well as Ugley, Essex boasts Messing, Mucking, Steeple Bumpstead, and Shellow Bowells.

In Oldbury, West Midlands there is a Rood End

There's a village outside Maidstone in Kent called Loose. A friend of mine took pride in being a Loose woman.

My SIL lives near there; she's tickled by the Loose Women's Institute!

There’s Good Easter near Chelmsford and someone already listed Cold Christmas in Hertfordshire.

How about Ware? People always ask where thinking mistakenly that’s what you said.

We also have childish conversations when seeing signs to Fryup. It's a tiny place in Yorkshire.

I remember, when I was a teenager, visiting and Aunt and Uncle in Scotland and going through a village called 'Rest and be Thankful'.

There is also Little Snoring in Norfolk.

There's a California in Norfolk.

We have…Trotters Bottom…. In Hertfordshire

I seem to remember the "Loose Women's Institute" changing their name because it sounded wrong - to the "Institute of Loose Women"!

There is a village in West Yorks called Friendly. I've often wondered if it is.

In Shropshire there is a little hamlet called New Invention. I've driven through it many times and would love to know how it got that name.

Here's what I found

I always thought that Husbands Bosworth in Leics was a good name.

Bottom used to have the meaning of a valley or glen that sheep were moved down to in the winter.

I can still clearly see the expression on a class-mate's face when we as fifteen year olds were reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility aloud in class, and she was faced with having to keep a straight face whilst reading the following sentence, "These bottoms must be dirty in winter".

I notice no-one included Cockburn in the list of ambiguous place names

My mum stayed on a caravan resort place called Sandy Balls.

Believe ‘The Land of Green Ginger’ is near ‘The Land of Nod’ in Yorkshire and there is ‘Squeezeguts Alley’ in Truro, Cornwall

Coming from Norfolk originally, I am very well aware of Great Snoring and Little Snoring. I understand that there is a village called Pratt's Bottom in Kent. We were on holiday in Somerset a few years ago and were very amused by the villages with Currey in their names. Our favourite was Currey Rival. We imagined pistols at dawn between the proprietors of the Bombay Express and the Indian Villa!
