Haven't had anything since breakfast, which was a bowl of dark chocolate and berry fruits muesli. But now I want some of that dark chocolate with raspberries and violets, it sounds heavenly. Any idea where they got it, teabagwoman ?
We had Lardy cake on holiday in Devon many years ago. I thought it was a regional recipe as I wasn’t aware of it either in Yorkshire or Derbyshire where I’ve lived. I loved it but it is a very filling cake. Think it contributed to a large weight gain that holiday ?
I’ve just had a bowl of home made minestrone soup and a Nandagold.
They used to sell lardy cakes, which I love, in our local Waitrose, DH and I would have half each, so it's probably a good idea they stopped selling them.
How to describe lardy cake? It’s baked in a tray and comes cut into squares. There are raisins, sultanas etc scattered through it. The texture is the hardest thing to describe - clearly has quite a high fat content, tends to be a bit layered, not as light as a croissant or pain au chocolat. Can anyone add to that? Love them but haven’t had any in ages.
