Do not seem to be on the right wavelength .......!

Grandmarderby take yourself to Bravissimo to be measured! They’re brilliant. If you’re concerned, don’t worry, no one touches you (unless you give permission, for adjusting the fit). They don’t use a measuring tape or anything, they simply check out how you look in your current bra and make suggestions based on that. I went down one chest size and up two cup sizes!

There are all sorts of things to know, such as how the bra fits against your breastbone, how the cup encases the sides of your boobs and the shape of them. It was a revelation, I tell you!

Well I for one would be extremely interested in the part about getting the correct bra size.
I couldn’t possibly go without a bra and not because it would look slightly obscene but because it is actually very very uncomfortable and ? sweaty.

Without resorting to surgery has anyone managed to lose weight from their bust without losing it from the rest of their figure?

Well I wear light make up, buy clothes that I like and have hair cut professionally every 6 weeks. The only thing I don't do now is highlight my hair because I can't be bothered!

I just went to a fashion show on the community hall in aid of the local school and sponsored by a posh shop in the nearby town.

The talk was all of make-up. hairdos and getting measured for bras. I do not possess any make-up at all (fairly dark-skinned with black eyelashes), I cut my own shoulder length dark brown hair and I do not possess a bra - I buy crop tops from ebay. I felt like a lost soul!!

I'm like you!! I'm light skinned, though, but haven't used make up for years and years!
I cut my own hair, or get my daughter to do it, and I prefer it very short!
What's a bra? Lol. Awful things!!
Fashion shows mainly show 'clothes' normal people wouldn't be seen dead in and are really just to show what 'designers' could make!

Theatre and exhibitions, but not much else TBH.

After retirement he started yoga and French conversation classes, neither of which appealed, and my French was always much better than his anyway, if I’m allowed to say that!

I went for piano - taking it up again after about 50 years, from a very low base anyway, only ever passed grade 2. So really starting again more or less from scratch.

He’s also spent a lot of time on family tree research, which I would be interested in, but haven’t got around to it yet - a lot of knitting to finish before deadlines in September/early December/general winter, but it’s definitely down for after the C-word.
Needless to say he’s not one for knitting, but at least he doesn’t complain when I buy yet more yarn and sundry projects are littering the sitting room.

I went to be properly fitted for a bra after having my last child and found I was wearing the wrong size, both chest and cup! I now wear the correct size and my bras are v comfortable, I don’t know I’m wearing one.

I like to wear nice (not expensive!) clothes, I am sensitive to the type of fabric, the cut etc and don’t like the feel of just having slung something on. My dh has learnt to live with my fussiness! Ditto make up, I feel put together when I have make up on and that I’m not subjecting the world to my grumpy resting face. I have different levels for make up though, depending on the occasion, all with some sort of sun protection.

They were school mums - it is a lowly small rural school with mostly farming parents - but they looked great and were clearly enjoying themselves hugely.

Well I like fashion but I’d hate the whooping and don’t like Prosecco.

When you say a school fund raising event Luckygirl maybe most of the audience were yummy mummies and that's why?

I don't think there are any best before dates as such, but if you look at the back there is a picture of a little pot showing how many months you can keep it once opened. So 12m, 28m, 24m or whatever. Anything from before covid, throw it out.

There was a lot of emphasis on underwear and getting fitted - this lady is wearing a 38 DD and should be in a 32 GG - wow!!!

Many years ago a group I belong to had a demonstration of bras from a local independent store. There were a couple of models, different sizes and one of our members volunteered as a model too. Others volunteered to be measured.
It was surprising how many were wearing the wrong size bras.

I've used so little makeup since Covid that it's all very old. Presumably it has a bb date once opened and I should throw it out and buy new.

It was a jolly event and will have made lots of much needed dosh for the school. It just felt like a different world - I have never been to an event where women were sitting at tables with glasses of prosecco, whooping and yelling at women marching up and down in underwear!

We all got given a goody bag: a nail file, 2 bags advertising fashion houses (that I had never heard of!), a pair of knickers, two tiny candles, a sachet of laundry liquid especially designed for lingerie (must remember to wash my granny knickers in it!); and a voucher for 25% off their garments for the next week - still out of my reach financially!

It was an experience, but one that brought home how very different my life is from theirs. Comfort beats all in my book!

I like a fashion show I must admit, it’s nice to get new ideas and if it supports a good cause even better.
I don’t get why a lot of you don’t wear bras, as long as you have the right size they are comfortable, and they make me look and feel better, I’m surprised so many don’t feel the same?
Makeup is for going out these days, but I wear spf50 CC cream in the summer, it kills two birds with one stone because it protects my skin when I’m out in the garden, and evens out my skin tone, it’s no effort at all to use, just like using any moisturiser.

I wear a bra always summer dresses or jeggins with a nice top and comfy footwear. A sweep of lipstick and pencilled brows necessary I have none. My hair is ear length and nothing like it used to be anymore but wavy and white.
I spend a lot of time in Dobbies I am a fan of garden centres I am more interested in gardening than make up and fashion. A fashion icon I will never be what I wear is coordinated I am on my own wavelength so that’s ok.

No make-up for me. I've never used it, just hasn't suited my lifestyle. Wireless bra if I have to for a rare occasion. Mr L cuts my hair. 'Fraid my shoes are practical too, no towering heels for me. So no, you are not alone.
I look at people on the TV sometimes and wonder where they find the time for all the self-maintenance, and I'm in awe of their ability to balance on 6" stilettos!

It's nice sometimes though to go to something out of the ordinary and find out how other people live.

I’m similar to Riverwalk - but I’ve worn makeup every day for decades - I’ve got it down to a fine art - 2 minutes. Hair is seen to a couple or 3 times a year, but I enjoy a manicure and have chiropody every 8 weeks. I want to look ‘tidy’ for me, although I dress comfortably these days rather than fashionably. Those were the days!

Your fashion show reminded me of the House of Mary fashion show in Jam and Jerusalem!

Not it's not just you. I used to be very groomed and fashion conscious but now I cycle, swim and walk my dog daily and look like haystack natural. No make up, cut my own hair, wear comfortable, casual things and flat shoes. The odd Seasalt dress for when I have to look human.

I don't feel I have to impress anyone and feel liberated and more myself than ever.

I'm guessing as the event was run by a posh fashion shop that they had some incentive to talk about accompanying make up and hairstyles etc. I see it as an integral part of dressing when meeting friends or going to a restaurant. For me less is more, so just subtle colours as my skin is fair. (Mud packs often applied when walking the dogs on the moor though!)

Going braless if you're a G cup isn't really an option.

I have drawers full of make up which I don't wear plus a wardrobe of 'occasional wear' also rarely seeing the light of day.

I need a clear out....

I'm pretty low-maintenance I think - haircut & roots, pedicure and eyebrow wax every few months.

Lipstick and a spray of perfume every day and I do wear a bra.

I don't have wardrobes full of clothes - wear chinos, linen trousers, tops, summer dresses, Skechers, Ecco, etc. In fact I could do with a few more things but am resisting and aiming to wear more of the items that don't get much of an outing!
