I'm quite enjoying it tbh...Doesnt bother Me at all that food items have Jubilee motifs on them.

We are going to a Chaz N Dave thing at a pub..not because we liked them but just for a giggle.

I've made both Granddaughter and Myself a Shirred Jubilee dress with matching Wired headband...I wouldnt normally wear something like this but thought sod it why not.???????

Our street is having a street party. I love the patriotism. I am, somewhat, saddened by the moneymakers. People profiting from this but, sadly, that appears to be human nature.
I admire the home made decorations, bunting and crowns. It’s a good time for families. Here’s hoping for gorgeous weather. Have a great weekend everyone.

A fair rolled into town last night, a beacon is being lit, big screen in park showing it all, etc. Last time the fair came it has to close because of anti social behaviour and drunk kids so I'm just praying for dry weather so I can paint my fence well away from it all.

Interestingly that YouGov poll asking about plans was taken 12 days ago. I wonder if the figures have changed much more recently? I certainly sense more people being sucked into doing something now the children are on half term, the weather has picked up and the media are bashing it out for all they're worth. Many people don't make plans two days in advance, let alone two weeks. It's a bit of a British last minute attitude, (dependent on our weather of course!) Time will tell.

Another person here who will avoid the Jubilee celebrations where possible.

It's not about being unpatriotic or miserable or any other insults others wish to throw at us - I enjoy a fly past as much as anyone else. I am happy for those who will enjoy it to go ahead and tune in or attend every single event. The news here is so depressing that a bit of the old sparkle, partying and bunting will be a welcome distraction for them.

I personally (and am not the only one as this thread shows) am fed up hearing and reading about the Royals generally. I was pleased to read that the Queen is restricting those joining her on the Buck House balcony to yer actual working Royals. Saves people having to be reminded about Son No.2's peccadilloes for a start.

Let everyone remember that the Royals are human and have flaws just like the rest of us. Remember that Tony Blair had to point out to her that she should return to London after the death of Diana as people were grumbling about her staying up in Scotland and appearing not to care. Her husband was thought to have had multiple affairs and set off on a long trip early on in their marriage in a fit of pique after having his request to be a Prince Consort turned down.

Some people probably believe that they have blue blood running in their veins! They are nothing special - just there by accident of birth and a few murders back in time. And we the taxpayers are funding them very well indeed for carrying out their duties.

I'm rather surprised at the negative attitudes here TBH. 70 years as monarch is an achievement worth celebrating and we will be doing so although we are somewhat hampered by my being (almost) a 'Jubilee baby'. Like many other neighbours we are in the process of decorating our house but will miss the street party as it is also the occasion of our DGD's birthday party. I shall be celebrating my own special birthday with afternoon tea at a hotel with close family on the Saturday.
After 2 miserable and often frightening years, it is nice to have something positive to look forward to.

I really don’t know why people are going on about 70 years on the throne, the queen may had acceded to the throne in 52 but the coronation was 53 and yet so many people even on BBC news (not known for its accuracy mind you) are interviewing people who say they watched the coronation 70 years ago.
Unbelievable…I’m not against royalty I just think they should live off their own money not ours. I can’t be alone as I had one of these pushed through my letterbox today with a message stuck to it ‘wear it with pride’!

Nobody is criticising those that want to wave a flag and eat trifle so why the negativity towards those that want to do other things on that day.

Well I’m a royalist and don’t associate it with a class system. I remember the Coronation and as a child I kept a large scrapbook of royal pictures, most people then were royalist. I’ve celebrated the Silver and Golden jubilees and will enjoy the platinum one too. At least it’s a bit if light relief in what has been over two years of misery, but at least we can rejoice that we don’t live in Ukraine!

So many miserable people, I would have thought that the jubilee was something to celebrate after the last two years we’ve had. Well I’m looking forward to it, as for wasting money, I believe it will generate far more than what it is costing.

My bunting is up on the front of the house and back. I love a celebration and a chance to get together with my neighbours and friends. My local pub has organised lots of events, looking forward to all of it. Much better than looking on with a grumpy attitude.

These are not clapped out aeroplanes taking part in the fly past. There will be 70 aircraft representing the queen’s reign and these are flown with the utmost precision and skill by our armed forces the Royal Air Force, the Army and the Royal Navy. Some of the old aircraft represent the Battle of Britain and have seen active service in the Second World War. Other aircraft are state of the art fighters and helicopters and the world famed Red Arrows whose pilots are the cream of the crop. They are all practicing over RAF College Cranwell to ensure the British public have a spectacular display to watch.

I for one am so proud of our country’s heritage, traditions and of those who serve our country, and especially to have such a monarch as Queen Elizabeth II whose long reign will probably never be matched again. I’m pleased to say, that where I live there is a lot of bunting and flags flying.

Love it. God Save the Queen!

Well, what a grumpy lot you are., but thankfully you are in the minority. I’m going to enjoy every minute of it. Street parties, red, white and blue everywhere, and plenty of jubilee programmes.

No, lots of people who can afford it are making the most of the long weekend provided by the platinum anniversary celebrations and going away.
No one has to join in the celebrations, the parties, the cheerful comments or the grumbling, but it passes the time.
