Knickerbocker Glory A Great Dessert Name

I love Eton Mess. I also love Pavlova and make a few every summer. I love knickerbocker glory. I haven’t had one for a while but would love one in Fortnum and Mason. One day I’ll take my granddaughter there. Talking about puddings - I made two strawberry crumbles this morning and froze them. Delicious with lashings of cream!

As a teenager I had a weekend job in our local Wimpy Bar.
Knickerbocker glory was on the menu and I loved making them. I always got told off by the boss though as I was too generous with the fruit and he complained about his profits!
I just made them as I would want to eat them ??

My oh used to live Charlotte Roux think that's how you spell it, his mum used to have to order it,I have never seen it.

Rum babas for me? but love baklava too. Sooo expensive to buy but I’ve made both of these deserts and though I say it myself they weren’t half bad.

Knickerbocker Glory, banana split et al are still very popular in ice cream parlours here (seaside town in the SE) and enjoyed by foreign visitors particularly, who see them as British. PS I make a mean Eton Mess- the perfect pudding for lousy cooks ( that's me)

When OH was working and living in Cairo we used to go to a non-tourist shop near his house for baklava. I used to buy tubs of it to take into work.

My mom used to make bread pudding (not to be confused with bread and butter pudding).

Knickerbocker Glory- takes me back to my early teens and a caff where we hung out listening to the juke box and drinking coffee out of glass cups. The icecream desserts in a glass with a long handled spoon seemed the height of cool.

Fly cemeteries (pastry filled with raisins) with lashings of custard were a staple at school dinners.

G'chn love home-made Knickerbocker Glories. I bought those extra long spoons and somehow that made the whole thing a proper treat.
School dinners featured the frogs eyes (rice pudding) and the most amazingly lurid pink custard.
My G'ma made 'bat the berg' as her speciality - a variation on iles flottantes.

All too sweet for me! Rather have biscuit and cheese but you get charged extra for that in some restaurants.

Bakewell Tart but ...is it a tart or a pudding?
