Royal Mail Parcel Collect is the title - yet it is for letters too

On the practicalities of using the Parcel Collect service.

Has anyone here sent something and used the option of the Royal Mail postperson bringing a printed label and seen the label please?

The reason I ask is I am wondering how big is the label, as I am wondering if it is small enough to be affixed to a DL size envelope, the size of envelope in which one can send a sheet or sheets of A4 size paper that has or have been folded into three layers.

I apologise that the wording of the question upset or offended. By using the phrase " if this is your choice", I was trying to ensure that those who do not have a choice would not feel challenged. By the way, I did not start the asking, I just tried to reword it.

It’s very easy to print a label off, I don’t see the problem, as long as you’ve something to stick it on with.
I’ve always found the instructions - including for Collect if I ever wanted it - perfectly easy to understand.

Necessary parts of being able to print a label is having a printer and it being possible to connect the device being used to book the collection to a printer. The collection of the parcel could be set up by using a smartphone. I have only got a basic smartphone, an IMO Q2, that I bought to gain experience of using a smartphone. I don't know about other smartphones but the IMO Q2 cannot connect to a printer.

This thread makes uncomfortable reading. StarDreamer has stated he is content with his lifestyle. He appears to have lead his life this way for many years. He comes on here for a chat and company.

Perhaps it would help if you were to clarify your position, as I asked. What conclusions have people jumped to which are incorrect?

Although the lifestyle in question is not one I'd enjoy - am I the only one who thinks this is a rather unpleasant question?

To me, it reads rather like, "your life is worthless".

If someone is happy to toddle around in their own limited little world, gardening, listening to the radio, whatever - then why should anyone question the validity of them "staying alive"?

Sometimes, saying “I’m happy as I am” is because it’s a (safe) habit. If one has tried various social situations, or even bring out immature on one’s own, and does not feel happy, then fair enough. On the other hand, life is gif living, and sometimes one tries something new or different and it is enjoyable and stimulating. Have I misrecalled, or were you interested in steam trains? Depending on where you live, there are interesting places to visit - York Rail museum for instance. Or chess clubs, places where there are gardening talks, etc

So if I understand correctly, since your early 30s you only ever left your house in order to go to a specific shop for a specific item, and presumably to go to work? And since you gave up driving you haven’t left your house? What happens if you or your cat need medical assistance? Do you have any interaction with your neighbours? If not, have you ever considered that if you were too ill to summon assistance your body could lie undiscovered for a very long time?

The second question, taking If so as if true as this is a Boolean value, and If this is my choice is not either true or false absolutely, but it is how it is and, unlike some media reports purporting rather sweepingly that elderly people are longing to get out and about, I am content and feel no particular wish to go anywhere and I suppose that for a couple of decades I have felt much the same, though did go out from time to go to shops such as B&Q or Currys when I was still driving but really only if I was going to try to get something, not just going out to have a look around. It was not always so, when I was in my twenties and early thirties I often used to go out to places to have a look around, particularly on Saturdays, but gradually I got that I would rather do some gentle gardening rather than go out unless I wanted to get something.

So, as to the question that arises if I get thrpugh the Boolean AND of the if statement, which I will do for this discussion, I get to the question where do you find any meaning or purpose in staying alive?
I am still thinking about this, having already given the question a lot of thought at various times since it was posed to me.

It did occur to me though, bearing in mind how some people say that many of the rules and attitudes in society are due to patriarchy, does that question originate from what might be called couples-archy in that had I been married and written "We keep ourselves to ourselves, we do a bit of gardening, we do jigsaw puzzles together, we watch films together, we watch television news together and comment upon politicians to each other" that such a couple would not be asked about where do you find any meaning or purpose in staying alive? because their lifestyle would not jar with the expectations of the couples-archy that exists.

Not lately fortunately. I meant that my very unusual diet has kept me out of hospital, as in not having had to go in again thus far, since I started having this diet. I devised the diet to try to avoid the problem occuring again and it was checked and approved by an NHS hospital dietician as appropriate in my particular situation.
