Good morning lovely kitcheners, I just read through all your news from yesterday.
Urmstongran I saw that post directed at you yesterday and was shocked. I’m not brave enough to post on a lot of sites. I tend to stick to the kind ones like this.
I like a debate but not a personal attack.

Soop I think you are right to prioritise your DHs cataract operation. But hoping you’ll still get a break away.

We were thinking of booking a week to Spain at the end of this month we saw a nice hotel in Nerja. Hubby said I’ll just check my passport and it runs out at in September so that’s a no go. There’s a good few weeks wait for new passports so we quite fancy a 3 nighter to Stratford upon Avon instead. Anywhere is just nice at the moment for a change of scenery.
DH is just slicing up an avocado so it’s breakfast time. Have a lovely day everyone. ??

Good morning dear Kitcheners. I’m feeling very much better this morning, have tidied up the kitchen, disposed of lots of junk mail and put a wash on. Mr. B will put the rotary dryer up for me, my fingers are not strong enough to click it into place and I don’t want it closing over me while I’m hanging the washing out! It’s a glorious sunny day so far, very fitting somehow for Palm Sunday.

Kitty, Lynne`s still being treated for the asbscesses on her buttocks, they`re still active after more than 9 months, and several courses of antibiotics.I`m beginning to wonder if they`ll ever heal up. The district nurses call every day to change the dressings.
It`s a beautiful sunny day here, a bit chilly though. I`m waiting for the ice cream van, he only comes twice a week.
I hope you are all as well as can be, but if you`re poorly, I hope you`re not too poorly.

Much busyness in our kitchen. I'm pleased for those of us who have recovered their mojo. It's a funny thing...it peaks and wains like the weather. I have been trying very hard to draw a pet portrait. The dog is in bright sunlight. Some areas have lost clarity. It's always a challenge and two hours have disappeared into the ether with not much success.

In fact, Mr Soop needs cataracts removing from both eyes. We have asked for a costing. He feels unsafe to drive. I no longer drive. We are therefore housebound for a while. Thank goodness for good pals who are happy to step in when we need help with shopping. I should be having my cataract monitored on Wednesday. I will possibly need to cancel the appointment as I cannot get into Campbeltown. Old age is a bit of a buggeration, methinks. Hey ho!

Hellogirl I feel so sorry for Lynne. Nine months is an awful long time to have the discomfort of abscesses. How did this all come about?

Shazza I eat an avocado almost every day. Apart from being healthy and nutritional, I like the taste and texture.

Back to the sketch. It will NOT beat me into submission.

Hellogirl may I suggest you ask the District Nurses to take and send a swab because that length of time is ridiculous to be in pain. There has to be some antibiotics on the market to solve the problem.

My new washing machine is coming tomorrow, it is a much updated version of what I have. Surprisingly I did not want to have wifi connection to run it or have to use a smartphone. This one has a knob I can turn-just what a simple soul needs.
Unfortunately, the price was also updated but the store owner said they will be rising again as certain items are difficult to source.

My freezer is sparklingly clean but did not respond to the tender loving care applied to it over the last few days. I think another has bitten the dust and it can easily be replaced with my premium bond winnings early next month. I know, £25, my usual winnings would only pay for the cable and plug.

I am sure it is repairable but at what cost as call-out fees are expensive.

Enjoy the sunshine because next week we may need buckets for our houses and umbrellas for ourselves as heavy rain is forecast, certainly in my region.

I have not made much progress after an afternoon of attempting to draw the next pet portrait. The problem is that I cannot see some detail around the muzzle as strong sunlight has bleached that particular area.

Never mind. I shall continue to observe and hope for inspiration.

Rather preoccupied yesterday and it continues today. MrM tested +ive Saturday morning. He felt 'not too well' Friday night. I'm -ive but will have to bide my time for a few days yet. It can take up to 5+ days or more (so I hear from friends) to show its ugly head.

He sleeps today, I am pleased to say, as yesterday he was determined to finish the last welding in the new build.
Our precious 4 days away are looming close (25th). Time to make a full recovery, I hope??.

We have our suspicions it came in from the two workmen that were here last Tuesday to finish our Heat Recovery System. MrM decided to carry on working in the room where they were. Hmm... Our electrician was then here for three days but have texted him and he is OK.

I will get back to some weeding. Take care Kitcheners.

Thanks nanna8 soop and baggs. Funny how much the vitriol affected me yesterday afternoon. I would never speak to anyone like that in real life neither as a keyboard warrior.

(Early) ‘Evening All’

My stepfather has just left. He’s keeping well. I cannot believe the man is in his 90th year. He dresses smartly, his shoes always shine and he stands erect. He is a credit to himself and my mum would be so proud of him. Himself drops him off home.

I’ve sided the table and washed up. We had a lovely afternoon in one another’s company. Family ties are important as we all appreciate in the kitchen don’t we?. It binds us together and makes memories.

I’m settling down now to binge watch ‘The Split’. Himself is watching the Man. City match.

Today I picked a load of rhubarb as our plant had grown very big and was going to bring some to the kitchen for you to make crumbles. Instead I stewed it in port and orange juice and divided it into containers to freeze to use for overnight oats.
Soop hope you will be putting a picture of your pet portrait on when it’s finished. So pleased you and DH have a lot of support from friends to help you out. We eat avocado and poached egg on toast most days for breakfast. I love mine also covered with chilli flakes.
Muse I hope you stay negative and get away for your break. Hope your husband recovers swiftly. I do fear covid is affecting everyone now. My two best friends and their husbands have managed to avoid it so far but I dear not for long. Thank goodness for the vaccines.
DH is pouring a glass of wine and Benidorm is on the tv. Heaven! Speak soon.

CharleyG, over the months, several swabs have been taken, and she is on her umpteenth course of antib`s, but they just won`t go away. Every time the nurses think things are improving and they cut their visits from daily to 3 times a week, the things start to seep again. She doesn`t want to stay in bed all day as it`s boring, so she gets up most days at lunchtime until about 7pm, but finds it very painful to sit.
Soop, I hope it doesn`t take too long for Mr Soop to get sorted, you both don`t need more buggerations.
ShazzaKanazza, I would have been trying to pinch a stick of your rhubarb to dip into a bag of sugar and munch on, Mmmmm!

I’ve had an enjoyable day pottering in the garden - the sun was out for a little while and it felt warm at last! We saw and heard lots of geese flying in formation overhead, it looked like they were heading north but no idea where to ..
We’re off out tonight to DD2 house to sit in whilst they go to a show at the local theatre. I’d say to babysit but as they’re 7 and 8 it doesn’t sound right!

Shazza That recipie for the rhubarb stewed with orange and port sounds lovely - how do you use it with the overnight oats? Sounds like something we might like to try

Hi brook we layer oats and greek yoghurt with fruit. Then leave overnight in the fridge. Any fruit is fine frozen or fresh. I occasionally soften the oats with a drop of milk if not using frozen fruit. I then top it all off with seeds and nuts. It’s so filling.

That sounds very depressing for Lynne Hellogirl apart from the pain, I hope the magic antib is soon administered.
Bugger muse everything crossed you stay clear and MrM recovers swiftly.
My covid symptoms have more or less gone apart from the real fatigue, my head wants to get on, body says no, only 5 days, I’m not very patient.

Poor Lynne has my complete sympathy Hellogirl. I hope that the right antibiotic can be found soon and also that the District Nurses are not under pressure to cut down their visits.

My leg is less 'angry' but I am still exhausted.

I just needed to say that I love urms siding the table because my nan always did that. I imagine it means that stuff on the table was put on the side out of the way. Tell me if I'm right.

Nan came from Horwich. She came from a large family and was a mill girl who brought her fellow workers out on strike because she lost the top of her thumb on the machinery.

There are loads of stories from both her family and also her husband's.

Good morning everyone. It's Dogs here . I am back. Several of you told me to take my time to process my (relatively) recent bereavement and I rather arrogantly thought I had. You were right. I needed some space and bar one quick lurk I have not read anything for weeks. I hope people will understand if I do not comment on others' situations/news. I have not looked back.
I have been walking ddog, working and had a lovely swift visit from one of the AC. Bought a stash of novels I have been meaning to read. Had my first hair cut. Bliss.
My head is in a better place and I look forward to joining in
