3 today. I always use the same started word and second if first reveals nothing. I don't get excited when there is one letter missing and many options. Not any skill at that point.

I have the same routine, often starting them all at midnight ??, but try adding trordle, hexordle and sedecordle to the list! Keeps the brain active, I guess!??

I realised at guess #2 there were a number of possibilities, so guess #3 and guess #4 were words that used the possible missing letters.
