Hating Spring

I know what you mean.
On the one hand U love all the spring colours and new growth and there's a sense of hope in the air.
But I also dislike the initial shedding of winter clothes. It's not warm enough for summer clothes,but dark winter colours like black, make everybody look pasty and ill.
It's neither here nor there.

Also winter clothes hide a multitude of sins as you get older.

I like all the seasons for all the reasons above, though Summer tends to be disappointing in Scotland.

It takes me ages to adjust to the change in temperature. By the time I have changed into my summer clothes, winter is back. I could hardly believe the schoolkids in shorts yesterday. I am desperate to plant the seeds but know it is too soon.

I think Autumn is my happiest time.

Whilst I wouldn’t want to live somewhere with frequent temperatures of 30c , I do prefer warm weather.
Late March to early October are the best. We really don’t have that many scorching days in general .
Can’t stand cold, windy and damp.

When I was a really little kid ( about 3) in London I used to get very excited when the first curly rhubarb leaves appeared. More so than with any other plant, they were so dramatic.

Beswitched, I am with you-i never liked spring when i was young for the same reasons. I was petty much an introvert. As i have gotten older i have learned to appreciate spring. Maybe it started when i decided to plant a garden. I was so excited about the flowers and vegetables that i started really enjoying the spring season.

I don't have a problem with Spring anymore but I do enjoy the back to school feel of Autumn. There's something reassuring about it.

I love Spring, I love the lighter evenings and the promise of warmth. I suffer horribly in cold conditions and end up resembling the Michelin man in all my layers. A little warm sunshine and muscles unfreeze, the pain reduces and my life is much easier. It has been a beautiful day here today and I feel good ??

Farzanah, if it's favourite seasons, then spring and autumn, both exciting as things are changing daily. Winter's a bit of a bore, heatwaves I detest.

I am pleased that I no longer feel somewhat odd in preferring winter because there are a few others here. I wonder if genetic heritage has something to do with it?
I know my friends who tan, enjoy and readily cope much better with hot summer weather than me.

I've always loved the spring and spending more time outdoors. I didn't realise that anyone hated or dreaded it - although I remember a student with depression saying she liked 'hiding indoors'.

Why the wish to hide from the world? Having never felt that way, I can't really understand it.

i love winter and do not like summer, during the summer i am indoors all the time, i hate the heat and the constant sunshine, not that we get much of a summer in scotland, i start to feel happy when october starts.

I've also lived in countries with only two seasons and I was surprised how much I missed the Spring. My acers have got new bright green and red leaves coming, a host of anenome have appeared along the front of the garden turning it bright purple along side the yellow daffodils and blue muscari, like jewels in the sunshine. After the grey dismal weather of the last few months I'm loving it.

I love the spring, in fact there are things to love with every season I think.
I agree though that knowing what to wear in spring in particular can be problematic.
For instance today it’s beautifully sunny yet there’s a brisk easterly wind blowing so it’s a bit chilly.
Nevertheless some folk will be out in summer clothes !

There is one type of weather that I do find especially hard to cope with and that is a heatwave.
I just find it drains me of all energy, and unless I’m in an air conditioned environment I really struggle.
At least in cold weather we can wrap up, but there’s no escaping the heat and humidity during a heatwave.

I could never live in a hot country!

Absolutely love Spring as it is the harbinger to Summer with which I have a huge love affair. Least favourite is Autumn because, although I find it very beautiful, it is the portal to dreaded Winter which is the absolute pits for me.

I don’t dislike any of the seasons but I absolutely love winter and all the wind and rain, fabulous…⛈???❄️ I also like early dark nights and don’t like it when the nights start drawing out..

I can't wait for spring to arrive which means I don't need switching on the lights at the crack of dawn to see my way from A to B, and even more hopeful, reduced heating bills.

When I lived in Norway, at the height of summer, the sun never actually 'set' at all, just slightly disappeared over the horizon leaving its rays to illuminate the bright sky. Unable to sleep, I'd sometimes take a book out onto the bedroom veranda and read until I felt tired enough to try again.

We lived virtually on the top of a mountain - a mountain turned into a housing estate - with a view overlooking one of the fjords. I often felt like I was on holiday - until I realised because the sun was getting higher, that it was time to get ready for work.

And yes we did have the appropriate bedroom drapes, but the 'sense' that it was light and bright outside - we went to bed in a house illuminated by daylight - still kept me awake.

So the shorter (very much shorter) days of autumn and winter were a blessing. Except we still often had to keep the drapes closed because the snow illuminated everything too brightly.

Very distinct seasons, and I never quite adjusted.

I like all the seasons - maybe something to do with having lived for years in a climate with just two - hot and absolutely stinking hot.
Like Karmalady I love ‘hibernating’ in late autumn/winter - sofa plus book or knitting, nice and cosy, but then I also love getting my sun lounger out in summer, reading in the garden, moving into the shade when it gets too hot.

It’s a lovely sunny spring day here today and I need to get out in the garden and do some jobs, but the wind is still jolly cold!
I do love it when you finally go outside and it’s not just the sun that’s warm, but the air, too.

I love Autumn and dry crisp sunny winter days and I like winter clothes. I don’t like the bright light and heat in the summer, and Spring to me is just the chilly herald of summer approaching.
However I try and take pleasure in every season these days as I don’t know how many I will have left
