I agree that Diana was probably too young as well, although she was more aware of what life might be like marrying into the RF than I would have been. However, some on GN think that 13 is not too young to make a life changing decision. So 19 would certainly be old enough.

Wasn’t it Lady Fermoy, Diana’s grandmother, who was a friend of the Queen Mother who really encouraged the marriage? Perhaps a poster has already mentioned this as I haven’t read every post.

I have read several books about Edward VII. Nowhere does it say that Alice Keppel was a prostitute. She was a respectable married woman from an aristocratic family.

If Queen is to be in the title then why not just Queen?
It won't affect the rest of us plebs one little bit.
Do we really care what she did all those years ago? Do we care what they get up to and do they care about what we think? I doubt it.

I agree there are more important things going on right now, but to answer your question, the Queen Consort title is to denote that they are married to the reigning monarch - they are not the reigning monarch themselves. The title ‘King Consort’ is not used as the title of “King’ is only given to a male royal who inherits the throne. If the reigning monarch passes away before the ‘Consort’ then the throne is inherited by the first born child.
