Camilla-Queen Consort?

Charles was having an affair with Camilla when he asked for Diana’s hand in marriage. Wonder what advice would be given now to any young bride who found herself in this position. LTB? Most probably.

I have no respect for either of them.

I don't consider that Charles is a weak man, but a sensitive man.
And I think most people will accept Camilla as Queen consort.
I think the Queen hoped, by her statement, to stabilise the subject that there has been so much conjecture about.

Also to consider of course, is what it will do to the stability of the crown. Charles us seen by many (not all, I know) as a weak man. If his 2nd wife, previously his mistress, then becomes Queen, yet another fracture in the image. I'm surprised the Queen hasn't realised this.

How do we know the two princes like Camilla? From the newspapers?

Well, no. I am judging from what I’ve seen on actual televised reports i.e. footage from C&C’s wedding, when the boys had tied stuff to the back of their wedding car, chucked confetti over them, laughing and larking about, was it done for the cameras? Possibly, but I don’t think so, it looked very genuine.

And when you’ve seen them greeting Camilla at functions and events, giving her a kiss and friendly smile, it doesn’t look forced or contrived.

They are not boys now, they are grown men, and as the Queen has obviously moved on, so have they.

Well, they had both moved on, not so sure now with H.

I don't think it's hostility as such Fanny. More that they should abide by the rules.

Lots of hostility to Camilla and Charles around these parts Fanny. I've never heard anyone say a good word about them.
Nobody knows the truth obviously but Diana was treated appallingly in the view of some people. Then after she died she was branded unstable. I think I'd be unstable too if I was used as a baby making machine and realised my husband was in love with someone else. Just a different point of view!

and yes, William and Catherine are lovely, but their day will come all in good time.

There is very little hostility to Camilla these days, she has been fantastic for P.C and clearly they both make each other very happy. I think she's just right for what will be a difficult act to follow, and I'm really pleased that H.M has made this gesture, no argument anymore . She also has a very dry sense of humour and knows exactly how to behave. Prince Philip apparently didn't want the title of Prince Consort, and obviously couldn't be King Consort as, apart from William and Mary when an exception had to be made, the husband of a Queen cannot be a King. Its all a question of rank. As for Prince Harry? No one made him behave so atrociously to his own family,particularly his elderly grandmother who by all accounts is extremely fond of him, what a snake! what does he expect? The only person who killed Diana was Dody for allowing her to be driven in a car, with a drunken driver, not making sure she was wearing a seat belt and knowing that they were inevitably going to be chased by the Paparazzi , hardly the fault of the RF or Camilla and P.C.

I like Camilla partly because she makes Prince Charles happy and he hasn't had an easy life in some ways.
I like the idea of Charles and Camilla being together and being King and Queen.
Lovely William and Kate will wait their turn.

I haven't spoken to anyone since the announcement was made who is in favour of this. It's all worked out very nicely for them. How do we know the two princes like Camilla? From the newspapers?

William and Harry (well perhaps not the latter now he’s estranged himself from everyone) are very close to Camilla and I think that speaks volumes.

GagaJo why do you think Harry was hurt by Camilla ? He remained very close friends with Tiggy and Diana said she had
aborted a baby conceived in an affair with Charles.

Good for the Queen. Giving her approval to the title of Queen Consort for Camilla when the time comes. Marriages do break up whether they are Royal family or not. None of the 3 of them were squeaky clean. Shame he couldn't have married Camilla when they were younger but protocol wouldn't allow it. Those who don't approve will just have to lump it.

I think popular opinion is irrelevant when you consider the hurt caused by a selfish father and his mistress. It's the little boy Harry that was hurt. It was his mother he saw suffering and killed.

I would think there is currently more hostility towards Harry than towards Camilla.
The latter has gone up in the world, whereas the former has been demoted.
This book Harry is releasing after The Queen dies will no doubt reveal his feelings on the matter.

I wouldn't say I'm in favour of Camilla, but she and Charles seem like the perfect fit.
He has never looked so relaxed, well, and contented.

I think that the vast majority are in favour, or indifferent, about Camilla.
There was a phone in on LBC on Sunday morning, and , to be honest, the anti-Camilla’s just came across as a bit unhinged.

I think the Queen (who I respect, despite being a republican) has yet again put her feelings for her children ahead of reading the feelings of the country. Most people are not in favour of this for Camilla.

I can only imagine how Harry must be feeling right now. Just as well he's well out of it and has someone for support with him.

I disagree, I think many people are in favour of Camilla.

Why should Harry object? From what has been seen in the past, both he and William looked to accept Camilla as their stepmother, and were happy to see their father happy.

To be honest, she seems to be one member of the RF that he hasn’t mentioned in his dissing of his family.

And as you say, he is well out of it and luckily has Meghan at his side offering a sympathetic ear.

That's an interesting comment GagaJo. I hadn't actually considered Harry's reaction at all (mainly because he is irrelevant). Do you mean he is anti Camilla because of the break up of his parents' relationship, ie the 3 in the marriage comment?

Neither was Prince Albert but he was called Prince Consort.
