Good morning, or should I say afternoon. Grey and cloudy but dry so decided to go for a bike ride and dust off the cobwebs. Mt B also went but on a longer one. We met up in Waitrose in the cafe as it wasn’t crowded, quick drink toasted tea cake and home. Now lying on the bed with a hot water bottle to ease the pains.
Sorry to hear your Christmas plans are on hold Marydoll, just keep safe and their will be plenty of time for a get together next year, hopefully. I just love the stories on here about the naivety plays, they give you such great memories.
My son has been in touch a few times during the week and things have calmed down a bit in his house. There is to be a post mortem on the ex wife so at last we will know exactly what was wrong with her. I will meet up with my son tomorrow to exchange gifts, he only has 2 days at Christmas and one of them he will be sleeping most of the time because he is on nights next week. Any take care sll

Oh! Marydoll your Christmas has gone pear-shaped. A bit like my DSister. Her DD1 has cancelled her flight for her family from France because of Omacron! Her DD2's DD (at student in Leicester) has tested positive for Covid and is desperate to be home, so her daughter is probably going to pick her up. Since Her DD2 normally hosts Christmas, that's her celebrations up the spout!!

DD1 and the girls are coming here after school and will be staying for dinner to celebrate school breaking up. GD2 may stay overnight but GD1 tells me she won’t this time as she has work in the morning! She is enjoying her Saturday job and of course the financial benefits. ?

I have made a bit of a start with decorations but the girls are looking forward to helping put the tree up. Lovely outside decorations Marydoll, Sod’s law that Dollie won’t be there to see them. ?. More importantly, I have my fingers crossed she remains safe?

Good morning everyone. The sun ? is shining here, outside and in. I am so sorry for people’s ills, pain and sadness and I do wish I could share out the some of the joy and happiness I’m feeling today. All my family together again. The family have gone for a walk to the village and we are left with the aftermath of the fun this morning.

Yesterday was so funny. I loved playing shops with the 4 year old being the shopkeeper and me as his assistant (although he said we were both bosses). The toy till reminded me of the one in Open All Hours, the drawer kept shooting out and I found it so funny.

This afternoon mum, dad and auntie are going out and I’m on granny duty, so it’s building the theatre, decorating gingerbread and cooking dinner. I’m girding my loins now!

Good morning from Manchester. I had a long day out yesterday because the car broke down on the M62 and we got towed to Huddersfield. It took hours to fix and we sat in a teashop eating sandwiches and watching cars lorries and buses go passed, it wasnt the day out we planned and dh had to drive back in the dark. Today I feel very tired after all that excitement and we will just watch television and watch cars lorries and buses go passed our own window for a change.

Good morning Mick and everybody. Beautiful blue skies in my corner of Lancashire, currently 5°C. Christmas cards and gifts all written and wrapped and despatched. We have been to the Post Office and handed over an insane amount of money so all will be safely delivered on Monday. The plan for today is clearing away the debris from around the packing area and a lot of rest. The usual physio exercises and cycling (indoors) later.

I will read your posts while I sip my coffee.

There's a heavy frost here in w/York's nothing much happening .?to all receiving bad news ,it's one of my neighbours funeral next week and her oh is in hospital very poorly .We are now in until 22nd apart from covi d test on Sunday ironing and housework on the agenda ?

I am ringing the MRI department today to talk about my scan. Letter has arrived and it’s next Thursday! My yearly check up but I’m nervous about going with the huge increase in cases. We didn’t plan any Christmas gatherings. The usual big family gathering with MrM’s lovely lot will happen in the summer, but DD wants to drive to see me for my birthday on the 30th. She will need to stay the night and is isolating before she comes.

I haven't read all of your posts yet, otherwise my time for writing this will pass.
Yesterday did another load of baking, mainly mince pies - I think 3 doz will be plenty. My DD1 has called in this am to go for a walk with DH and dog, this is when they put the world to rights. This pm, DGS will be coming to spend the night here, so today's job is to childproof my bedroom!
Have to admit I had a little weep this am when I read about 4 children killed in a fire in London - so many children not going to see Christmas this year, so sad.

Can muster no enthusiasm for Christmas this year which is not surprising, but must summon up the energy to do one or two necessary jobs and post the last cards.

So sorry that Marydoll and others will not have the celebration they were so looking forward to. One way and another it is all rather messy and it doesn’t help that the messages from the centre are so contradictory or that trust is diminishing.

Yesterday I had a lovely lunch at my oldest friend's house. We have been friends for 57 years! She is a constant in my life that I am very grateful to have.
Today I will need to buy food as I'm short of bread etc. I then will spend the rest of the day sorting out and wrapping presents. My usual motivation has disappeared this year and I don't know why but needs must. Macaroni cheese for tea. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a foggy Essex by the sea. I can hear the fog horns on the ships out in the estuary.

An eventful day yesterday, my almost four year old granddaughter decided she wanted a fringe and used her craft scissors to her best ability. I am waiting for a picture.

My husband decided to fall over on the side of his face and head. What a mess. He seems ok this morning apart from bumps and scrapes. I lay awake most of the night worrying about him.

Not much on the cards today, I'm feeling tired and a little emotional.

Just in case anyone might be interested this is the recipe I used for years. Pastry is lovely with ground almonds and lemon zest. My sister who lives in Casares, Spain emailed me earlier to ask if I still had it. I won’t be making them any more. Nice as they are!

Scentia - I’ve ordered a weighted blanket for my DD after Googling what they were. The revues were all good so that can be her Xmas present. I didn’t know what else to get her other than a few extra treats.. I think she’ll love cosying up on the sofa with it, especially as she is poorly. ?. I hope you like yours ?

Today we’ll meet with our Friday Gang at our usual old pub for lunch. We’ll sit around the log fire and enjoy a chat and a giggle or two. Old friends - you can’t beat them! ❤️
No parties or Xmas do’s for us. Just the family on Boxing Day which will be just right.

Still dry and on the mild side. I woke early to one of the cats tapping on my face then the other one sat on my head, purring loudly so up I got and fed them while making my cup of " builder's " tea.

Not long finished the crumpets, so that'll keep me going until 11's's.
Expecting the last of the parcels to add to the " grotto " which is my bedroom until Christmas Eve. There are 7 children to buy for so you can imagine stepping through a maze to get into bed. I'm always glad when Christmas Day is here.

I can't even give any relief to D with the children, nor go there to allow her to shop as she's isolating Ah well, can't be helped.

Sorry for your sadness Ashcombe.

Enjoy your time in the warmth, Pantglas , what a lovely thought. It does the soul good.

A cleaning day I think as I must run the hoover over the place and might put the little tree up. I gave D my big tree and decs. as one of her cats knocked their tree over and bent the stand. I hadn't bothered with it last year so at least it's freed up some space in the cupboard. I did keep the fairy.

Thoughts go to those with worries or problems of sorts, which would be eased slightly if things were normal but life has been anything but normal for the past couple of years which has put a strain on us all-----but it won't be forever, we have got the lighter nights ahead of us albeit by degrees but they'll be with us soon.

Morning from S Lanarkshire, looks okay outside. Another poor sleep last night and quite a busy day ahead delivering small gifts to my best friend’s grandchildren. She died five years ago and her family, particularly her eldest daughter, has been so good at keeping in touch.

Morning everyone from what looks to be a bright, nippy start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. It was lovely to see my friend yesterday for a short chat she sat well away from me sticking gravely to the guidelines. I also had a shirt and pleasant visit from my very kind neighbour who brought me a beautiful bunch of flowers and himself what looks to be a bottle of elixir which went straight under the Christmas tree there’s no way my dh will take a peek before the 25th nor will he allow anyone else in this household to peek at what Santa’s bringing. Before time what a man wouldn’t change him for the world

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dull but mild Oxfordshire,
Had a busy day housework wise yesterday so just a couple of parcels to wrap today and that’s it.
I’ve got a Christmas jigsaw out and I’ll start on that after the ironing.
Both DDs are due to get their booster today and GD gets her first jab on Monday, she is now 18 and her Consultant said it was up to her whether to have the jab or not as she has heart problems, fingers crossed all goes well.
DD2 had a nice Christmas gift yesterday(not) her rental agent called to do the 6 monthly inspection and handed her a notice to quit by end of Feb. Landlord is returning to the U.K. and apparently wants his house back, she is so upset even though they have the neighbours from hell. If they can’t find anything
( very little on the market at the moment) we will all have to shove up here at oopsadaisy mansions.
Worrying news for you Marydoll please take care, that goes for all of us I guess. MrOops has a sore throat and swollen glands after his hospital stay, but lateral flow is negative, oh well we will decide what to do about that later today. We have no plans to go anywhere in the foreseeable future anyway, or have visitors other than DD and her dog.
Some good news on here this morning and some not so good, so a virtual hug for those who are in need of one.
