Sneaking in here. Good afternoon everyone. Still windy here in Scottish Borders but nothing like the night time storm. Had lovely drive to Melrose and a coffee. Looked round a couple of shops and bought a dinosaur toy for dgs.
Had long chat with a new neighbour. Lovely to get to know her better. Best wishes to all.

I too had an MR brain scan two years ago luluaugust for vertigo + hearing loss. Completely normal.

Bit late checking in from stormy east York’s today.
I was up and out early to be at a Christmas Fair in the village for 10 this morning with ds and dgs. We got some nice bits and bobs. One stall had some beautiful crocheted baby blankets so we bought one each as I will have one here for when it’s required. An absolute bargain at £2.
We then went for a drink a local cafe. Just back and DH and I are having a lazy afternoon as the other GPs are coming to spend time with dgs while ds goes visiting. I think DIL had to point out to them they would like a bit of support.
Thinking of anyone poorly or worries.

A late good morning from a sunny but very cold Glasgow.

My plan to spend some time in the garden yesterday were short lived. No point using a leaf blower as high winds were scattering leaves all over the place. Quickly potted more tulip bulbs then made a hasty retreat indoors for the rest of the day

Horrific reading when I followed accounts of storm damage last night on the east coast.
Desperately hoping the South African virus, now in Belgium, will be ineffective against our vaccines. ??

I wonder if Janet Keiller, who made the decision to experiment with an excess of Seville oranges, looked at her first batch of marmalade and thought…...what a mess!?

Good morning Mick and all from sunny but very windy Carlisle. It was a screaming gale last night but fortunately we seem relatively sheltered here. The next door neighbour has chairs and bins scattered about but that seems to be it damage-wise as far as I can see.
I've been baking this morning mainly to use things up. I don't really need more cakery as my small freezer is now rammed with goodies. I hope DS2 will shift it all when (hopefully) he arrives from Australia. My freezer came with the house as a fridge freezer, they never hold much so I shall probably buy a bigger one to go in the garage come the New Year. I like to be well stocked up in case I can't get out for any reason.
A bit of reading and admin is all I plan for the rest of the day. I'm not going to go outside and be blown about, wind is my least favourite weather.
GrannySomerset have you had that back checked out by the docs? You seem to have been suffering for some long time now.

Thank you Granny23 very reassuring. I was so amazed to get a face to face appointment at all and then, as I say, it was a bit of a surprise. Hopefully won't have to wait too long for the actual scan but I expect to be in for a long wait like you afterwards.

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Lancashire coast.
It’s been like Wuthering Heights here, I thought the house might take off in the wind, like in the Wizard of Oz.
My sniffles seem to be sniffling off thank god. Yesterday I had lots of cod liver oil, paracetamol etc. Still had a band practice which is rather chaotic with a sound test. I’m probably not going to use the mikes, hate them and don’t think I need them.
Here today, thank goodness and thoughts to all with worries.

Good morning Mick and all from cold and gusty Lancashire. The wind was so fierce and noisy last night, we got little sleep, but the house and garden appear to be in one piece. Mr. B had to pick up a few pots and things that had been blown across the garden. I hope nobody has been badly affected, I will read the thread fully later.

I think you are right to avoid travel for the next few weeks Mick, it will be chaotic.

Not to worry Luluagust When my hearing was tested and I was prescribed hearing aids, I was also sent for a head scan, just to check that there was no damage or a growth on the inner ear tubes. Seems to be standard practice for hearing loss. I had forgotten all about it until out of the blue, last month, over a year since the scan, I was sent an appointment with the ENT specialist. I battled through torrential rain and road works, arriving late for the appointment, but the consultant saw me, was pleased to tell me that the scan results were clear and my brain was "normal" (there are many who think otherwise I asked why I could not have had a letter with the result a year ago and the Consultant explained that protocol demanded that patients be given the results face to face. They were, like every other NHS department, running very late.

A later good morning everyone from me in south Manchester. Our new winter duvet is so snuggly we both slept till 8am. Dry here but looks cold out. Himself has put on several layers and his ‘bin lid’ to take our Boy Wonder to his football cup final game. Parents are so tired after a very busy working week & it’s nice for them to enjoy a brunch and pj morning.

I’ve just stuck my nose in the coffee jar and HURRAH! I can definitely smell the coffee albeit faintly. Progress indeed so I’m a very happy bunny. Not going out or seeing anyone this weekend. This virus has been beyond debilitating and not seeing my stepfather tomorrow for lunch. I’d hate for him to get this as he lives on his own - I’ve got Himself with me.

I’ve asked him to go into the larder (Sainsbury’s) on his way back up for brunch goodies which I shall cook as soon as he gets back.

Good morning all from a cold and blustery central Herts, it rained plenty at night but dry at the moment. Will stay indoors today as tomorrow DS2, DIL and our latest grandson will be coming for lunch so need to do some prep.
I'm also at the tail end, I hope, of a nasty cold (not Covid) so have had a few duvet days already this week.
We are also having problems with local buses here, yesterday when coming home from shopping, two buses were just cancelled, so instead of waiting twenty minutes we had to wait for one hour! It wasn't pleasant waiting in the cold although we had some shelter at the bus station. There were many people waiting who were much older than ourselves, possibly mid or upper eighties.
We're told there aren't enough drivers, some have left to work for courier companies and better conditions.
Anyway these are minor problems in the big picture.
I will not be posting for a few weeks as mid week will be going to Turkey with DH, however I will try to read posts if possible.
Now I will go back and catch up with today's news.

Turned sharply on getting out of bed and back is worse than ever. I need to go to see DH but impossible until the pain quietens down and I stop yelping every few minute. So disappointed as I really thought I was improving.

Good morning from the Sefton coast.
As I went to bed last night the wind raged at 60 mph. This morning trees block roads and it remains windy. Our neighbours on one side have lost a ridge tile which has smashed the glass roof of their conservatory, the others have lost nearly all the ridge tiles on a pitched lower roof. I hope GNers in other parts of the country enduring even worse conditions are okay though I have yet to read your news.

Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Northampton. Glad I'm not going out anywhere today!

Had a lovely meal out with all the neighbours last night. There were 17 of us and the pub did us proud. Our taxi got lost on the way there! I should have been sitting in the front to give directions, as late DH and I used to visit that pub every weekend! The food was excellent and service brilliant for a large group of people. I am afraid to say that the dress I picked up yesterday did not get worn - even for a petite size it was too long, and was very frumpy-looking on. But I did find something nice to wear in my wardrobe in the end.

Planning on making cranberry and ginger vodka today from a recipe in a weekend newspaper. Found a large storage jar to mix everything in, and it should be ready for Christmas. Just need some pretty bottles now.

It has been very windy here overnight, and it has been raining, but I can't see that any damage has been done.
Son-in-law is collecting us later , and we are having lunch at theirs, which will be a nice break.
Marydoll, glad to hear you finally escaped the car.
I locked myself out if the house the other week. I stupidly closed the front door, with the keys still in it inside. Consequently, you cannot then open the door from outside. Luckily I had my car keys with me, so used the fob to open the garage door, and got into the house through the back.
After late night browsing last night, I ordered 3 pairs if corduroy trousers. Just hope they fit after the disappointment with a D....T order last week.
Nice to have some Good Samaritans around Ginster. Happy car hunting!

Good morning from a wild, windy NE.
Snow started here at about 4pm yesterday and the flakes were the size of half crowns. DD and SIL arrived at 7.30 and said it was treacherous travelling. The snow had gone by bedtime but I had to wear earplugs to get to sleep. Dustbins were emptied yesterday which meant they were light enough to blow around and a work's van alarm went off at intervals all night.
Not sure if my sister will visit today as she had dental surgery yesterday.

Good morning from Derbyshire. It’s snowy, wet and cold here but the wind has dropped a bit. Think next doors cat ( son and family lives next door - it’s one of their cats who ‘visits’) has moved in with her paws crossed til Spring as she doesn’t like snow! Having a Thanksgiving gathering this evening. Our daughter-in-law is American. Spending today cooking.
