If anyone needs a good clear out before a procedure I can 'recommend' the stomach bug I have just had.......I now know every flake of paint on the back of the bathroom door. It certainly cured my cough though. Glad everything was ok OP.
Well, all done and dusted. The nurse who initially took my details kept telling me I did not need sedation and I know I do, I know some people don’t but I do. In the end I had to say please stop trying to dissuade me from having sedation. Anyway then I had a talk with the consultant a very nice Indian chap and he told me that I would feel pain even though I was having sedation and apparently this is because I had a hysterectomy and where the womb should be I think he said the bowel Or the colon collapses into that area and therefore make some quite hard to manoeuvre turns. And it did bloody hurt …?…have to be honest. But nothing nasty was found just diverticular which I was aware of anyway from a previous colonoscopy a few years ago so all in all good result ?????? And before anybody jumps on me for mentioning the nationality of my consultant I would just like to say that nearly all the staff up there were foreign staff and without them the NHS would completely collapse..
Good luck with the procedure shinamae. Mine wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be and I didn’t have any sedation. One thing I noticed was how quickly a glass of water goes through when one is empty?
Hope all goes well! I had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago and the bowel clearing thing beforehand is pretty grim. I made sure to stay very close to the loo. At least we have two in my house!
I was told I should take mine in the morning so I told my boss it would be best if I didn’t come in that day just in case. He said ‘oh come in, it’ll be a laugh!!’. I could have gone in as it didn’t start working until the evening so I had a very restless night.
Again, thank you all for your good wishes. I have to be at the hospital for 1030,not had anything to eat or even drink this morning, should be home I think by about three ?
when I had a Colonoscopy they didn't give me anything to drink, but I had to do an enema. It was a bit yuk. The actual proceedure was ok, surprisingly not too embarassing as they were really professional. (I guess they do this all day every day! ) I watched on a screen for a while but as I didn't actually know what was what I closed my eyes after a while. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow, Shinamae
Thank you all for your good wishes. I’ve done 1 Litre and halfway through the 2nd but it is bloody disgusting it’s got a sort of salty taste which overrides the lemon, absolutely yuck…??
Is that moviprep ?! Vile stuff. At least my gastroscopy yesterday didn’t require any preparation !
Oh you poor soul! I've never had to go through this - yet! but my DH had one a few years ago and it was horrible and made him feel very tired and wrung out. I do hope all goes well on the day so to speak!
