Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s very dull so we may have some rain again.
Yesterday we had torrential downpours but I had a lovely time catching up with a friend.
Today I should have been going out to lunch but the hostess has cancelled as she isn’t well. So I have an empty!
Will get on with some paperwork for my charity and go out for a walk.

DD finished work early yesterday as unwell and had been sent to have a Covid test.We are now waiting to hear if the test is positive in which case we will have to isolate.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
It was a miserable day yesterday, more like October than summer. I spent the day washing and I had everything ironed by teatime.
Today the security company are coming to install new lights, replacing the halogen ones with LED ones. I don't think it is going to rain, when they came to replace the cameras they got drenched.

Morning everyone from Dornoch, home of Skibo Castle where Madonna got married. No, we have not taken out several mortgages to stay there! Our hotel does overlook the golf course down to the beach.
If any one remembers the cute baby seagull thread, I have gone off seagulls. There is a ledge just outside our window and our arrival was monitored by Sebastian2. After screaming at us that we should know better than disturb him, he glared at us and flew off. On returning from dinner, we found the plastic container of milk we had left to stay cool on the window ledge had been stolen, and pecked to pieces on the ledge below. Seb2 and Sabbatini were crowing with glee, beaks extended skywards. The racket they make continued throughout the night with huge territorial arguments at 3.00 am. We are staying in a croft at Wick tonight, hope it is relatively seagull free! To day we hooe to find the apple tree planted in memory of my uncle in St Andrews Church in Golspie, apparently there is a plaque on it. He was minister there fir 16 years. However I cannot get the current minister to answer the phone, so not much hope of a look inside.

Tomorrow we are up early to get the ferry to Orkney, so may be missing tomorrow.

Good morning everyone from Glasgow where we have a high overcast but as yesterday turned out to be lovely for most of the day after a worse looking start I am not going to predict whether the sun will make an appearance or not.
OH has an eye test today so I will go with him to prevent him driving home. Mine is tomorrow for the reverse reason. I am grateful that our government funds eye tests, nobody has an excuse not to have one regularly and sight is so important.

OH is on kitchen duty today. My chorizo, black bean and roasted vegetable invention yesterday was a huge success. I have realised that minus the spicy chorizo it would be perfect if we are entertaining vegetarians/vegans in future. OH is normally the one who invents new dishes, he is especially brilliant at using up what we have in the fridge. I must be learning from him.
Wow, the sun has broken through and it’s only 16C. Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning everyone it’s a very bright start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. The weather here has been pretty up and down these past few days. I was so excited yesterday after receiving a wedding invitation to go to Barcelona hope I can make it I’ve always wanted to go there but so much to organise. If it’s to be it’s to be.

That’s himself emptying the dishwasher I can hear all from the comfort of my bed. Just another day same old same old however I might be in for a lunch treat soon

My dear neighbour has returned to finalised his late mother’s house sale and to complete clearance of the house. I’ve got somewhere nice in mind to take us for lunch. Not for a few days though. That’ll fill in part of the weeks boredom I like it when I’m able to get out and about

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, but the sun is trying its best. Have a couple of loads of washing to do in readiness for my holiday.

Didn't get to yoga yesterday as friend who was giving me a lift woke up with raging toothache and needed an emergency appointment - turned out she had an abscess, but is feeling better after treatment.

I only managed to give one of the cats their flea and worming treatment yesterday - she avoided me completely for the rest of the day! Her sister seems to know something is going on and has also avoided me! Must catch her unawares when she is asleep today.

I too am avoiding people this week and staying home, not going on my walks etc, as I do not want to risk testing positive before I go on holiday. I did a home test yesterday which was negative so should be ok if I don't see anyone for the next couple of days. I am so looking forward to being away with the family and don't want anything to spoil it.

Good morning everyone from the Isle of Bute where it’s very light cloud and quite warm. Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day until the evening when the rain came in so we had a family games evening playing Cluedo with the kids then Scrabble later
Today we’re all off to the beach so hope the weather stays good. I noticed your post yesterday marydoll and meant to say that there’s a trip we’re thinking of doing this week on the paddle boat steamer Waverley that sails from Rothesay to Tighnabruaich, should be different!

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Wiltshire.

We decamped early yesterday for a night. Had lunch with a friend we’ve not seen for 18 months. Really good to see her and catch up, the phone just isn’t the same. Back home today via Lacock, a National Trust village often featuring in period dramas. Years since we’ve been there, really looking forward to it.

The food knitting made me smile Alizarin, it’s the sort of thing my Mum would do to use up wool. We’ve also got one grandchild isolating for 10 days, NanKate, a furious and frustrated child is making parental life difficult, feel for every family in the same situation, must be so hard for them all.

Yesterday I had a busy day with gardening, painting the windows (with oil), cleaning the bathroom in the cellar, dismantling some shelves and washing curtains. Today I am just having a lazy day. I am going swimming. First time this year. It is too hot to do anything else.

Good Morning. Another grey, drizzly one.
Today I’m off to meet a friend for coffee just the two of us today . We are often 4 or 6 but we all get called on for child,dog minding or even husband minding on occasion.
A little top up shop this afternoon and a few bits to do in the house. I try not to overdo things the day before our childcare duties when all my energies need to be tip top! Things don’t always go to plan though ?

Yesterday ended up a glorious day with hot sunshine. We were in and out of the garden. Despite my lack of sleep,I kept cheerful and dgs was his usual happy wee self.
Today will be our visit to the fish man. Then possibly the park to feed the ducks. Then the garden in the afternoon. Whatever you do, have a good day all.

Last Pilates class today. I can’t say I have enjoyed the class but loved the other girls in it. They were girls - much younger than me. I preferred the belly dancing, tai chi and especially the Nordic walking we also did.

DGS was sent home from school to isolate for 10 WHOLE days as someone in his class has Covid. He is not a happy bunny as he will miss all the end of term activities.

Had a very disrupted night’s sleep so rather washed out today.

Good morning all . Weather non descript! We didn’t have the forecast rain all day yesterday, so I got all my sheets etc dry.

My Chimes group was cancelled as there weren’t enough of us to play. We should have at least 6 people. We meet every fortnight and I will be away for most of august so I probably won’t be able to join in until September.

Littlest Gd (5) is off on a school trip today, to a farm/ come activity centre . Barleylands ! (GG and Sar). I’m so pleased life is getting back to normal for the children. It’s a coach trip so I hope all goes well for them. Not sure if they’ve all been Covid tested.

Scentia I can feel your excitement at having your GC all to yourself . Lots of plans and good times ahead for you. ?.

Good morning from a damp, grey Essex by the sea.
DH phoned last night from Burnham where they had moored up, they are sailing to Queenborough in Kent today.
I am going into town with a small list of things I need to look out for, birthday cards, silver earrings, mugs and some goodies from M&S to eat whilst DH is away. He doesn't like M&S food, says its over hyped, I think its great.
I have a large pile of ironing to get through, some notes to type up and washing to get done.

Morning all! Bright grey here up north but comfortably warm. Guess some would call it 'muggy'. Suits me. Took a bit of a hit yesterday when son No 1 told me his request for leave in August has been turned down. He applied ages ago. Too many applicants. He's with the NHS. I was SO looking forward to seeing him. Like so many others, it's been a LONG time. Longest ever, infact. However, on the plus side I was at a most enjoyable lunch yesterday with many ex naval friends. Huge private room with well spaced tables and much merriment. Excellent and thoroughly uplifting under present restrictions. Text last night from Son 2 who wants to come here with family this weekend. Hallelujah and rejoicing about that. It's a very uppy downy life at the moment. However, positive thinking and action helps I find. Sometimes very difficult though. Hope you all experience some sort of high spot in your day no matter how trivial it may seem to others.

It’s my first day of childcare today and I am not due at DD until 8 but I am sat here all ready to go!! It is her first day today I bet she is just as excited?
I have lots of plans, none of which will materialise as DGS will have his own ideas, usually involving puddles and getting muddy. I will do that, I have wellies!!

Good morning all from an overcast S Hants, we had torrential rain with storms yesterday early evening causing local flooding. Mick photos are from the Dordogne in 2017 when Le Tour started a stage from our village, much excitement. Alizarin they make me smile ?.
I’ll get some weeding done today and nip out to pick up MrJ’s birthday present for the 20th, a new putter, he’ll be glued to the Open gM. Family bbq here Sunday, so I’ll ring the local butcher too.

Good morning from north Surrey, some cloud but can see blue sky.
We had thunderstorm and torrential rain yesterday early evening just as I had finished a long session in the garden, perfect timing.
DD sent a photo of DGS1 and his Beavers group who still managed to have their outdoor water fight in the rain. They were all very happy, and soaked, when parents arrived to collect them.
I am back to work on a late shift today, will be good to get back into some normality and routine again.

Good morning from a bright, sunny Torbay at last! Often we see warm sunshine after a damp start but interspersed with showers.

Just revisited yesterday's GM to see only two pages of posts! Most unusual! I guess holidays have played a part in temporarily reducing our contributors.

I am now on my third dentist in two years and she plans to leave at the end of August to go into private practice. Apparently, the necessary restrictions to remain Covid secure have made it impossible for them to see enough patients to earn a decent living. Dentistry seems to have become the Cinderella of the NHS.

It's lovely to read about Gransnetters on their holidays and I hope you all feel revitalised by the chance to escape. We are certainly very busy here in the South West which is welcomed by the hospitality trade. A busy time in your part of the country, grandMattie! Knitted food looks realistic, Alizarin - how clever!

I'm meeting the Props team at the theatre this morning which is always a pleasant time, chatting as we tidy the Aladdin's Cave that is the props store! My main job is to make the coffee.
