Good evening everyone! The nights are really drawing in! Jax we are watching the cricket - this format is very exciting! Well I am watching, DH is sleeping ? .
We had DGC for 24 hours. They slept well but we are going to have to develop strategies for DGD. She is 5 with a vile temper, which she turns on and off at will. Her poor brother has a lot to put up with. If we are both here, it’s a case of divide and rule but today I had to go out.
Are your husband’s problems ulcers muse? My DH’s started with insect bites. They are causing him a lot of pain just now so stronger painkillers, hence falling asleep.

Hello kitcheners I’m just popping into the kitchen to catch up with the news and to dry out!

It’s been raining all day here in Inverness and I’m well and truly soaked. I missed my class at the gym as the blummin car wouldn’t start - its a long story but it’s a hire car with a fancy ignition system as our regular car is in the garage. The hire company sent the AA round and it was eventually fixed but too late for me so I had to go into town on the bus.
Then as it’s Wednesday we usually watch DGS play football and we forgot the umbrella- well I say we forgot but it was DH really.
So Ive just got in dripping wet and found out my waterproof jacket isn’t waterproof at all. Ive had a warm shower and pjs are on already - is that allowed in the kitchen??

Wine is open even though it’s only Wednesday and a bar of chocolate too … that should sort me out!

Missing family tonight. Sent texts and hope for a call from DD soon. She has had a few days off work and gone with DGD to Yorkshire to see friends.

Had Mya at the vets today because she has a reoccurring ear problem. Drops have been tried on a few occasions so the time has come for a thorough investigation. She will be sedated on Friday morning and a swab taken. She is so good in letting me clean her ear but she's scratched it sore too often.

Talking of sores. MrM sores on his legs are still persisting. One has almost healed but needs a dressing on still but the other is still troublesome. The nurse put a paste on it on yesterday and he has really struggled to walk today. Back on paracetamol. Next appointment is Friday.

I should get a letter soon about my referral to the ophthalmologist. It was such a relief to know the lump was not skin cancer. I shall tell the optician when I go back (next week). I can't be angry with him though. It is best to get these things checked out. Hellogirl1? please.

All day I've had my mum, Vera, in my thoughts as today would have been her birthday. Just worked out the dates and she would have been 100.

Hellogirl - I know how it feels when you need a haircut. Mine had grown to make me look like a hairy mammoth so I hacked it here and there. Looked even worse.
Then younger daughter rang last night to say they're coming for the day on Sunday so I made an effort and went to my hairdresser this morning, She managed to tame the mop and I feel so much better!.
Also good to have a change of company and a natter.
As for keeping active, can't remember if I mentioned it on here, in March I fell and fractured my ankle. I'm back to walking regularly but my sense of balance is very poor.

Grandmabatty If chaps needed to have their squishy bits squashed, there would be an almighty uproar.

MawB Us lot are extremely fond of you. It's time that you spent more quality time here in the kitchen.

Grandmafrench I shall never ever be classed as normal. I tried it once. Didn't suit me. I believe it's in the genes.

BladeAnnie All good grannies thinks like you. Give the new parents time to adjust. Your family will glad of the space. They will also value the support that you will give to them whenever they need it.

Baggs will travelling a very long road to visit us on Saturday. I am all excited, as Torben would say.

Hi all, well done Blossoming, you’ve struck a chord with me and I really must go back to walking, I potter about in the garden, smaller shops and the weekends I’m more active walking, but, no excuses.Yia it seems a lot, but I’m sure you’ll face them with the knowledge of your future mobility. That all sounds very good, but I’m a cowardly custard!
We’re off to the cricket soon at the Ageas Bowl, it’s sunny, I was going to put shorts on, but I know in a few hours it will chill down. DD is giving us a lift there and we’ll taxi back, food vendors available, so no cooking, marvellous!

Hellogirl it's uncomfortable rather than painful but I understand why you feel like that. I lost my best friend from university at the age of 35 to breast cancer and so many friends and colleagues have had it that I stiffen the lips (sadly not the boobs) and go every three years.

Maw, you`ve just described Lynne to a T. She wasn`t very good at walking, but she could still just about get around the house, but after 5 weeks in hospital last September/October, she hasn`t been able to walk at all, not even stand up.

Susan Am hoping seeing happy little B is some compensation for the recent bad times: you'll obviously make his day! Sad that enforced hospitalisation has led to further problems in your family. Hospital Acquired Disability - I can think of other names (!) and reasons for the increased frailty of your poor FiL. Hopefully there's enough family to help him recover some of his mobility once he's home. He'll certainly improve mentally and really needs that to look forward to.

Yia - we'll know that now you'll bravely go! And just wait for the appointment for your first procedure. In the meantime, hope you get some better relief from pain. x

soop trust you are well-recovered from the festivities and almost back to normal! Whatever that is! Nice that you found your old pal in reasonable spirits - bet he was so thrilled to see the two of you again.

Are your bruises on the mend now, Blossoming? I tend to picture you as a Skittle, trying to avoid falling down. Keep up the hard work and do those steps - said she, who needs to start taking her own advice. You should perhaps aim to become a Weeble. Remember those ?? Toys for little kids with a solid ball for a base. No matter which way you pushed them down, they'd bounce back upright again - "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down". Like that, you'd have no more bruises, ever.

GrandmaB, after unpleasant boob-squishing, you definitely deserve a gentle afternoon potter. Pleased your Mum is due more delicious food treats again soon - that may have avoided a potential Wednesday problem for you, no doubt? ?. Enjoy a nice time with Monty - he's always such pleasant company. He reckons that having a garden saved his life and I think it can work miracles for most of us.

Good Afternoon dear kitcheners and I hope you all are well? I'm leaving DD1 and co to get used to being a family of four. They can call me if they need me but otherwise I'm giving them some space during this special time. I'm knitting another baby cardigan as DGS was bigger than we expected so his first little cardigan I'd knitted for him is too small!! I'll have to check what we are eating tonight - I've a feeling it might be macaroni cheese I'm making. The last couple of nights we've been a bit naughty with pizza ? and fish and chips ?!! Good afternoon Blossoming. It's good to hear that you are soldiering on. I had a mammogram this morning and have recovered from having my substantial boobs hoisted about. Gravity and being overweight have a lot to answer for! I visited mum and she is looking forward to her birthday dinner on Saturday at her favourite place to eat. No WhatsApp chat this afternoon so I am catching up with Monty Don and Gardeners World. It's raining too so I'm spared weeding today. A spot of gentle pottering awaits.

The rehab program is going well so far, I’m off out for a walk with my trusty step counter shortly. No falls so far this week, still nursing a few bruises from the last one but nothing broken. Is a “hospital acquired disability “: when you are bedbound and very quickly lose muscle tone?
I remember how Paw became very wobbly very quickly and sometimes almost came out of hospital worse than he went in. Walking him round the corridors every day when his breathing was good enough used to help, but it only happened if I was there to accompany him because the wards were too short staffed to spare an HCA to go with him.
It is a dire warning to us all - apparently we can lose muscle tone in our legs in under a week if we are unable to move around. So even walking with sticks or a walker is better than not at all.

I love your name, TillyTrotter. If I have failed to welcome you, may I do so right this minute. I'm a bit behind with matters. Can't think why!

My consultations were as I expected, now on the list for hip and knee replacement and stronger medication for psoriatic arthritis.No surprise really I’ve buried my head in the sand for so long.It could be a lot worse I have had one knee replacement so know what to expect. I can do this.?
