Jab or Jag?

My next door neighbour said he'd been for his prick. I must have looked stunned because his wife quickly added "He means he went for his jab this morning".

Thank you. Have to admit I don't care what it is called, either. I've had mine - both! Just curious!

I use whatever term I fancy at that moment. I don’t restrict myself to just one word.

I say vac or jab, especially online cos its faster to type....but i really don't care, the meaning is clear. I don't use Vax because to me its linked with antivax but that may be just me.

A popular opening gambit up here in conversations at the moment is "Been for your jags?"

"Have you been inoculated yet?" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Nobody's devaluing anything, its just what we call it.

Jags is a Scottish only word as far as I know, not being Scottish I call it a jab.

Jags is also an old fashioned word for japes ( although that’s an old fashioned word in itself)

I used to have visions of the beggars riding in a jag , as a child, because my Uncle owned one.?

I didn't understand the OP first as I have never heard of the 'jag'. And I thought, why has it got to be a choice, DD1 has both! Jab x 2 and a Jag.

Either will do me as long as I get it.

Joke on Radio Scotland this week.

In Scotland, Partick Thistle football team are knows as the Jags. ( true ) In England they call them the Jabs. They're going to tell that joke again in 8 weeks because we need 2 doses.

I find jab, in the language of my country of residence, and jag, in the language of my country of origin, devaluing to an amazing achievement.

Jabs - we are southerners.
Yesterday had a zoom meeting with a Scot, who called them jags.
I couldn’t care less what anyone calls them, as long as they get themselves vaccinated!
