I wouldn’t pay £5 for a dress that badly made, never mind £69.95.

Is there some fashion that the checks conform to? You know, like the holes and tears in jeans!

I'm really surprised. I've bought quite a few items from Seasalt recently and everything has been beautifully made. But I couldn't cope with those mismatched checks. No, no, no.

I like and buy a lot of Seasalt, but this one is awful. I too could see Esme just looking at it then looking up at the person who had wheeled it forward on their dummy

I started making dresses as a teenager, guided by my mum who was a very good amateur seamstress right into her eighties. Neither of us would ever have regarded that as an acceptable standard of sewing.

I love check shirts/dresses but always look very carefully before buying any to check the checks (no pun intended!). With the Sea Salt dress there's no need to look carefully, it hits you right in the face!

If you are tall, with long slim arms and legs, have lustrous hair and are good looking, and aged between 17 and 35, that dress could look very nice.?Even with mis matched checks.

Once you see it, as they say, you can't unsee it. What a mess of a dress.
I love Esme by the way - she gives hope to all us "shorties" but only she could get away with wearing hand sanitizer bottles filled with coloured water worn as a necklace. Even Prue Leith wouldn't get away with that.

Know what you mean. My late Mum was a Needlework teacher. She always said...when you look at a man's pinstripe suit if you see all the pinstripes matching on the lapels, it's a good well made probably expensive suit, non match off the shelf.

It’s the almost but not quite that grates. I wouldn’t buy it even though I like the shape.

Gosh! I've just seen the back more closely and that's even worse.

Not familiar with Esme but Mrs Walker, our needlework teacher at school in the 60s, would send it back to be re done. Wonder if anyone was daft enough to buy it?

Ooh, ouch! The placing makes it stand out too, doesn't it? If even an average home dressmaker had made this themselves they'd have pinned it exactly in the right place to try and avoid this.
Do you think that at £70 the makers feel that it wasn't worth their while to get it right? Though that's not an inconsiderable sum to spend on a dress for many of us.
