My eldest turns 50 this year. Oh my. Where did all those years go? Sure makes me feel ancient. My eldest grandchild is 27, youngest is 2. I have this theory that you can’t pin down and measure time. It definitely goes faster the older you get.
My DSs ages are 42, 39 and 37. 2 DGC with DS1 are aged 3.5 and 1.5, and another on the way with DS2. So, yes it seems our children are settling down and having their families older than our generation.
My name says it all = I was born in 1933 = married in 1954 - my children born in 1956 and 1961 - I married a second time and inherited 4 stepchildren. So I added all the grandchildren of both families - hence 12. We do all keep in touch by email - imagine writing letters to everyone not to mention all the various cards.
My oldest is 46 and coming up to her silver wedding next year! How??? Still my 90 year old aunt told me it doesn't really hit you till your daughter is 60!
My eldest son is 62 this year, then my daughter will be 58 in May, the next son 57 in July and the baby will be 50 in July. I told my eldest son that he could not possibly be mine as he now lives in sheltered accommodation, he has retired early and I am definitely not old enough to have a son who fits that criteria. He just laughed
My eldest is 57 and youngest 40. There was a big gap between first and second and between third and fourth. 9 grandchildren range from 9 months up to 22 years.
My eldest is 68 in June and is a gran herself. Elder son is 67 in June and younger son is 58!
I am a very old oldie as I will be 87 in June and read the obituaries in the newspapers to see how old people were on death and think I have been lucky!
I live away from UK because of Covid and I am 5 hours behind UK so my post is often the last. I do enjoy Gransnet daily!
As every has already said where has the years gone? When we moved to this house I was 3 months off my fourtieth birthday. Next year my son will be fourty. My daughter will be 36 at the end of this year.
My grandsons are 5,6 and 7.
The birthday that amazes me, my baby Sister will be 54 this July. I remember the day she came home from the maternity hospital.
A difficult birthday for my sister, she will be the same age as our mum was when she died.
My elder son wil be 56 on 1st April. The only birthday I never forget. Next son is 10 years younger, he and wife, aged 40 are expecting their second child in June. I never expected two new grandchildren in my eighties..Just sad to think I will have no idea how they turn out, but nice to be buying children's and baby gifts.
55, i too wonder where the years have gone as i just don't feel i am old enough to have a child of that age when i'm only 37. in your dreams, as they say!
