I have a mobile dumping facility - a spare laundry basket. When the Queen's coming to tea at five minutes' notice all the debris which might cause offence gets swept off the surfaces and disappeared upstairs. At least the stuff stays in one place until someone can face processing it ... normally six months later!

I have a junk drawer which holds all the randoms bit and pieces that don’t have a home anywhere else. I sort it out every 6 months.

omg mine dont look like that. if you havent used something for over a year .bin it .i'm in the process of moving home and the c**p.. i threw out was unbelievable ..

We have 'THE drawer'; at one point a few years ago when I was working hard for long hours we had about three of THE drawer, but now retired I can keep it under control. There are so many single small items that might be handy, may have fallen off something, are too good to throw away.....probably when we fall off our perches the whole lot will be in a skip, unsorted.

Oh you should live with my OH. He puts stuff everywhere. Drives me bats. He would never in a million years have a drawer like that. Now me... that’s a different story ?

What fascinates me is how there’s always a long piece of string or wool woven throughout the mess. It does make finding ‘stuff’ easier as I fish everything out in a lump. But where did the wool/ string come from? When does it weave its magic? Another of life’s mysteries!

I have two drawers in the kitchen which are full of stuff that might be useful some time. And two more in the utility room which are also full of useful things. Funny thing is that DH always knows exactly which drawer to look for something.

My drawers sure are full....

I'm a bit of a neat freak and buy little storage boxes and baskets all the time to put stuff in, but I still have that dumping drawer. It's full of pens, well in a pencil case lol, notepads, envelopes, tape measures, etc.

I have a doofer box, for things that will do for this and do for that!!

Every drawer is a dumping drawer in this house. My husband cannot stick to a system to save his life even when I've labelled them. It drives me mad.

When I had a new kitchen I had ‘his ‘n’ hers’ dumping drawers put in. I know where everything is in my drawer but about once every 3 months my husband goes through it and tidies it up! I can’t tell you how many hospital appointments, Velcro rolls, pens, birthday cards waiting to be sent etc have gone missing.Leave it alone please!

No dumping drawer here in the house ?. I don’t ‘do’ mess and clutter . However, the garage is a different story ....

I am forever rummaging through the drawers so I have stopped trying to keep them tidy. My knickers drawer is probably the only one that stays tidy. Every pair of knickers is rolled and colours kept together.

I dont have a 'dumping drawer' - I have a 'dunping room'! Everything that doesn't have a 'home' gets put in the snooker room - needless to say, you couldn't play snooker on there. In fact, I have not seen the baize surface in years!

Because all drawers have to be tidy in the kitchen, everything without a home gets dumped in a big drawer in the utility room.
Everything from tools, picture hangers, screws, tape measure, garden wire, secateurs, and loads of other rubbish.
I’d be far too embarrassed to take a photo.

Oh my Giddy Aunt! That phrase makes me think of an embarrassing situation I found myself in years ago. I was on a second date with a chap whom I had decided wasn't really for me. I struggled through the evening - he had taken me to a Country and Western Club and we were having a close up dance. The conversation had long since died and I had an idea, turned to him and said, brightly "What is the name of this song - he replied: Will you show me yours if I show you mine?!!

Those drawers are tidy compared to mine!

Mine are empty! - moving next week. But I was amazed sat the rubbish that was in there.

These are the two drawers of my dresser in the living room . When I tidy them everything goes back in and will soon be jumbled again, so I don't bother any more. I do actually know what I have and in which part of the drawer!
