My daughter’s partner cannot stand the word ‘moist’. If you use it to describe a cake, for instance, it would quite put him off! Do you have a word you hate, and is there a proper reason for your feelings?
You is both a singular and plural word. There is no such word as youse. And definitely has no A in it. So definitely you cants say definately. I hat both these words.
Lucca I thought I was the only person on the planet that finds 'all the trimmings' infuriating. Every year, without fail, there are meals reported in the local paper where people 'tuck into' (another pet hate) 'turkey and all the trimmings'.
Someone on a thread like this said that grown men saying "Oh, I must pay a visit to the little boys room" made her shudder.
I agree.
Totally agree with this. Why are grown men and women saying they are going to the little boys room or little girls room. Makes them (specially men) sound like a pervert!
Agree wholeheartedly with all of the above but my latest hate is yous instead of you, I could get violent when I hear it. Also haitch instead of aitch, that one is everywhere even on radio and tv.
Dick instead of penis, or dick instead of detective or policeman. I used to have an Aunt Jeanette who liked to be called Aunt Dick. I used to cringe because in her innocence she did not know the other meanings of dick. Its a horrible word.
