I got a poster free with a pair of Clark's Golden Dollies shoes. I had no idea who it was, but it went on the wall anyway. NOW, I can appreciate Robert Plant / Led Zeppelin, but at the time - not a clue!

That Beatles poster (or something very similar) was on my wall when I was 14 plus a close-up of Paul. Then a couple of years later a big full-length poster of Jimi Hendrix. I wasn't a huge fan, it was just my way of asserting my teenage self as I knew my mum would hate it because he looked so wild!

I had Alice Cooper plus snake around his neck!
Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin plus my beloved Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne. My parents were obviously more "with it" than I gave them credit for.

I didn`t have posters, but did have a framed photograph, plus a reply to my letter, from Huw Thomas, the ITN newscaster, I was well smitten with him for several years.

No posters for me,I shared a room for a few months with my sister and she had posters on every flat surface including inside the wardrobe doors.I begged to get my own room backto get away from them .Always loved music was never really interested in the looks of the singers or bands

Hurdy Gurdy, we must be the same age. I had the Jackson 5 and lots of horse pictures, my sister had Donny Osmond and the Bay City Rollers on her side of the room.

And NotTooOld - no, you are not PC by using that term. I believe Native American is the term used, or Indigenous American.

Billy Furey, wonder what happened to him? The other one I really lusted over was Warren Beatty but he looks a bit like he loves himself from an older perspective!

downtoearth just found this online - the front page of the NME announcing Steve Ellis had split from Love Affair. It's 1970, so 51 years ago!

Bruce Springsteen and Rod Stewart - good choices both are still going strong, I went to the Rod Stewart concert at Bristol 2 years ago, better than ever at 70.

I wouldn't have dared put up posters in my bedroom but we wrote names on the covers of our jotters. I loved listening to John Peel and had some really obscure names like The Strawbs and The incredible String Band, but I also fell for the obviously good looking ones like Scott Walker and Marc Bolan. Was a great fan of I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again where Tim Brooke-Taylor was my heartthrob.

Billy Fury dies aged 42. He had a weak heart as he had rheumatic fever as a child, and had several heart attacks. I believe he spent some of his life on a farm in Wales breeding Welsh ponies. If I’d met him he’d have married me obviously.

No posters for me but I liked Elvis in GI Blues and Blue Hawaii. Also the Shadows whom I met when they performed in Oxford. My friend and I were invited to the cinema with them along with Frank Ifield (all entirely innocent).

Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. Pop stars didn’t do it for me. I clearly had more grown up taste! ?

It was always George Harrison for me. He is known in this family as 'your George' . I wish!
