Royalty the queen and her family.

RF family want their 1969 documentary to be taken off air. The Queen was talking in it about a governor that looked like a gorilla, in one little clip, of docu seen on twitter.
Queen doesn't want her various shares and their values in companies made public too embarrassing. And lobbied in the 70s to be made exempt from new law. She has millions in off shore accounts.
P Charles land owner lobbied to be exempt from new leaseholder legislation that would have allowed homeowners to buy the land their property sits on.
And when people from the Duchy die with no living relatives P Charles gets the money, with other landowners around the country money goes to the treasury
Then there is Andrew

Well H & M haven't been "conspicuous by their absence during covid"; if only they had been.
For a nation struggling with pandemic we have been left abandoned by the Windsors who are mired in their own sleaze and scandal. Even if the myth of the Blitz spirit, a trope so often called upon in Brexitland Britain was a fiction, the Royals have been conspicuous by their absence during covid, an ill-thought-out trip to Edinburgh aside.

Mollygo I agree, a racist comment was made by a poster and
it seems it was acceptable because Phillip allegedly made racist
comments.
Eloethan, probably not and it wasn't acceptable.
Do you justify doing things you think are unacceptable, because someone else did it first?
Does it make it OK for us to make racist comments about him, or anyone else on the grounds that he did it first?
IMO no!

Thanks Ellianne.
A lot of people, allegedly, become more right-wing, racist and Republican as they age. I am the exact opposite.
“Everybody was saying we must have more leisure. Now they are complaining they are unemployed” (during the 1981 recession).
“You are a woman, aren’t you?” (in Kenya after accepting a small gift from a local woman).
“If you stay here much longer you’ll all be slitty-eyed” (to a group of British students during a royal visit to China).
“How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test” (to a Scottish driving instructor).
“Still throwing spears?” (question put to an Aboriginal Australian during a visit).
“There’s a lot of your family in tonight” (after looking at the name badge of businessman Atul Patel at a Palace reception for British Indians).
Just a few of the "lighthearted comments" shared by the Duke of Edinburgh. I wonder if the subjects/recipients of these comments thought them funny.
.
JenniferEccles, of course. There is nothing like racially insulting someone to put them at their ease.
Sparking do you want Andrews daughters shot ? They do not carry out public duties, same as Anne’s and Edward’s children , the only family members who carry out public duties are ,the Queen, Charles,Camilla, Anne, Edward, Sophie, William and Kate
Who of these do you want to get rid of ?
Camilla was volunteering at a vaccination centre and said Philip is improving slightly but is sometimes in pain.
I hope his blood pressure hasn’t been rising at the latest Meghan and Harry outpourings!
The concept of racism seems to strike more fear into the people who deny it than the people who experience it - they know exactly what it is. It is indefensible, no matter who said it, did it, acted on it.
Here and now the question should be why do I think it/something isn't racist?
Asking in which ways it is, rather than arguing that it isn't is very revealing and the only path to not being racist.
The way I see it, his comments which cause so much consternation in some quarters, are just his way of cracking jokes to put people at ease.
Ah yes
Racism as a joke.
We really should all just get over ourselves and let people say whatever racist thing pops into their head without being offended. After all, it’s just in good fun, right?
Racism isn’t light hearted banter and the only people it puts at ease is other racists.
Fan of tge Queen, didn’t know about these financial matters, really is disgraceful, having so much when many pay taxes and manage on so little. Queen should back taxes, prune down the royal hangers on, don’t need Andrews brood, if it were not for Will and his family they would not last.

When is ‘The Interview’ to be shown by ITV?
NellG
Indeed Smiles - although I wonder if the Oprah interview is now a runaway train that he couldn't stop if he wanted to?
If course it is. I said this last week, and said similar yesterday.
They don’t own this interview.
Once it was filmed, it’s out of their hands.
Wonder what sort of men they were if Phillip said in their company about shop girls
I like Philip. He and the Queen are my two favourite royals.
The way I see it, his comments which cause so much consternation in some quarters, are just his way of cracking jokes to put people at ease.
I am sure he would have seen countless very anxious, uneasy faces over the decades he has been accompanying the Queen on her official duties.
The Queen quite rightly is always very correct and measured in what she says to people she meets and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
The duke though has a bit more leeway to try to put people at their ease and what better way to do that than with a bit of lighthearted banter, which despite all the fake outrage at some of his comments, is all they are.
I don’t believe there was ever any malicious intent in his comments.
I think you have completely misconstrued this, trisher.
The only one who reported what your latd FIL said was you and I thought he was being rather reserved and gentlemanly when relating the incident to you.
I just wondered what was meant by the term shop girls which sounds as if it is demonising all women who work as shop assistants by using it as a euphemism for prostitutes.
But it hardly matters about that because they may well have been from the lower classes anyway.
Although DD's friend is an "Honourable" and she worked in a shop at one point when they were travelling.
Such is the British class system.
Or conversely one deceased gentleman must not be criticised for passing on tittle tattle about a member of the royal family whereas another who is still alive is fair game mainly it would appear because he has some foreign blood and is a member of the royal family. The former, in fairness would have no idea that his daughter in law would be repeating it many years on, on a public forum. Hmm
So one dead old man can be demonised and what he said misconstrued but another dying old man has to be treated with reverence. And there you have it. the English class system!
PP is certainly a bloody racist, that’s for sure. I won’t shed any tears, frankly.
Well, it wasn't me who posted those remarks of your FIL's, trisher as I never knew him and no-one I knew ever went to those kind of parties so I couldn't comment on what went on.
I think it's rather sad to post all that when an old man is in hospital fighting for his life.
