Which high Street shops do you miss the most past /present

Does anyone remember Peter Robinson on the corner of Oxford Street and Regent Street?
Again like everyone else loved C&A. Laura Ashley, Chelsea Girl and Biba’s and Habitat. Happy memories.

BHS for their homewear, Richards - still have a lovely black wool 3/4 coat with fur fabric collar and it still looks good although hardly worn and C&A where I bought most of my clothes in the 70s/80s. Sadly so many lovely shops are now disappearing. Just not the same shopping on line (shows my age)!

Would love to spend time looking around Wilkos or Poundland- brilliant.
Missing charity shops too for finding something unexpected!
Past shops that I miss include Benetton, Mikey jewellery,BHS, and Habitat.

My local bank! I'm now expected to go 33 miles away (can't do that now) and cannot phone them or get in contact other than by writing to them - still waiting for a reply to my letter of mid-December.

Good old Woolworths, M&S and C&A are all very sadly missed from the past - though at the moment my 'most missed' is a visit to my local Costa Coffee .

There used to be a lovely up market grocery store in Brighton East Street. You could find (back in the day) all sorts of unusual ingredients and their meat was the very best. Sort of like F&M by sea???

I remember too a gorgeous empire line blue velvet evening dress from Richards. I was very slim back then.

But on the whole my favourite shops were the sort of independent boutiques you found in Brighton Lanes.

BHS was great value. Austin Reed for DH shirts. Laura Ashley, Woolies and Jaegar and my local Lloyds bank,

Flopsey That name is a blast from the past, conjures up the names of the other great shops of my youth - Those were the days! Swan and Edgar at Piccadilly Circus. Bourne and Hollingsworth and Marshall and Snelgrove in Regent Street, Army and Navy Stores in Victoria Street and Galeries Lafayette in Regent Street. Thanks for those memories.

Also miss all the independant record shops where I used to spend many happy hours browsing.

In Birmingham we had The Beehive and Marshall and Snelgrove.

Saxones, Lilley &Skinner, Bourne &Hollingsworth, C&A, Dolcis, Perrings Furniture, BHS, and all the Department Stores in Kensington that I remember from my childhood. And dear old Woollies - you could find an amazing range of items them. Time passes but thanks for all the memories.

East for me, I still look on Ebay an sometimes their stuff pops up.

I also bought my wedding dress in C&A. 1966, and I paid just a few shillings more than £12!

I was a Woollies Saturday girl, think I was 16-17. We used to serve cake and cheese and sliced cold meats on the deli counter and when a pensioner asked for say, 4 ounces, I'd cut them off a big lump and hand it over, pretending to weigh it! My friend got stuck on fruit and veg. for months and hated it as her hands got so dirty.

Loved C&A and Etam, Woollies, Bon Marche and Planet. We have a diabolically poor range here in Rochdale and one of our two shopping precincts has just closed permanently. Only place now to buy books is WHS. Throughout the 70s, bought most of my clothes (including my bridesmaid's dress and my going away outfit) from Laura Ashley - made me feel so floaty and feminine.

I loved East before it’s recent online reincarnation . There is literally nothing I would buy now and I was previously spoilt for choice .
The Pier and Habitat for a mooch for gifts and household bits I didn’t know that I needed until I went in!

I miss Jaeger.

Remember little woods? I used to get my wool there the kids clothes and have a coffee there too.

Poundland and wilco are nowhere near replacements for woolies of BHS! Bring them back. There is less and less competition in the department stores now, not good. Currently miss all shops, online is convenient but doesn't make up for a browse and a coffee.
