What are you glad you don’t have to do anymore?

Smear tests. Oh how delighted I was to receive a notice of result after my last one with an attached note that I wouldn't need to attend anymore. Yaaaaaay!

Going to work, especially when it was morning shift. Always working to someone else's timetable then.

But I do miss the games of jargon bingo we used to play on the back row, in between doing a crossword or three.

I am.glad with lockdown I don't have to do.anything quickly, there are no deadlines. First time in my life since I was probably about 4. In fact I spend as much time as I can doing everything, spinning it all out. A novel feeling which I am enjoying.

Retired nurse here. Like the others I don’t miss the early mornings, ice or not. Had to be on duty by 7am on early shifts. I preferred that to the late shifts, having to walk through deserted hospital car park in the dark.

Having to change nappies and then wash them! As my children are in their fifties disposable ones weren't an option.

Get up to the sound of an alarm. I was fortunate enough to be able to give up work in my early fifties.

Having to explain or justify everything I do! I live alone, and the joy of being able to make a cup of tea, eat a slice of cake or an apple without either having to share it or get some for someone else!

Getting up for work before dawn on an icy Winter's morning or trudging back home after dark in the snow.

Anything to do with menstruation. Thank the Lord that finished years ago!

Have the house pristine ‘in case somebody turns up’.

Having to referee two kids that always used to fight after school!

Me too Cid24 no horrible heavy periods and wearing of giant pads. I didn't realise how much my life revolved round that until I had an hysterectomy.

To Petra, Yes, taking orders from dumbclucks with big busts and blonde hair, no qualifications to speak of but were adept at sucking up to the weedy little Principal of the college I worked in.

I’m shielding at the moment. I do miss being at work, but so glad I’m not having to get up at 5.30 in the dark. Not having to scrap the car windows, or worry about driving in the snow.

I’m so glad I don’t have to get up early!
Also I’m thrilled not to have periods -and the monthly migraines that went with them!

Getting up for work. I gave up work a couple of years ago to look after my DH. Don't miss early mornings sorting newspapers out of coming home from work in the dark

Commuting on busy trains! I feel so sorry for people jammed like sardines on the train, tube and buses. I know most people have been asked to work from home but according to my son (who is a police officer and can't work from home), the tubes are almost as busy as they used to be.

Go to work.
Travel on crowded buses and underground trains.
Work to timetables and impossible deadlines.
Socialise with work colleagues and bosses whom I had little in common with.
Ironing at least 30 shirts every Sunday.

Having to cope with the precarious nature of being in a controlling relationship.

Targets that were impossible to achieve if you followed ‘ management’ instructions, and if you didn’t, threatened with no salary increment that year.
Ah yes, polly123 those staff who got promotion even though they were useless at their job, and then proceeded to cause chaos

Having sex and de-fuzzing.

And another retired teacher here. Don't miss the arduous journey to a school where there were individuals who couldn't teach effectively in a classroom, being given promotion to tell the rest of us how to do it. The interminable and irrelevant meetings when we could have been far more gainfully employed. I miss the children but not the politics. The lack of importance given to creative subjects was also depressing. Not to mention the emphasis on politically correct areas of the curriculum at the expense of more useful areas for the children. The low level disruptive behaviour was wearing and rarely supported by 'management' who made all the right noises but did little else.

Go to work. Thought I would miss it but it’s lovely not being on what I describe as the‘treadmill’. Everyone who I knew who had retired told me it was good but I have to say I didn’t believe them. Also love not having to defrost the car in the mornings and definitely don’t miss driving home in the dark. Notting quite the start to retirement we had planned due to the current situation but better than being at work,

Sitting in Board meetings taking minutes that quite honestly bored me to tears. The fact that it was of no interest to me my mind wandered off many times having to try and make up what had been said. .

I am glad that I don't have to go to school, and I have been glad about that all my adult life! Doubly happy that I will never have to do PE.

Dating - what an ordeal.

Camping. Only slept in a tent a few times in my life but I am very happy that I will never have to do it again. It was OK when I was 8, but I never enjoyed it as an adult. Now I am much too old and arthritic to find myself in that situation. Hooray!
