Sad news. He had a very good voice and a sunny personality. I believe he stayed married to his wife, unusual in the music business.

“Don’t let the sun catch you crying.”

Part of the soundtrack of my teens. Always sad to hear that another one has gone.

RIP Gerry, saw him many times but will always remember when the sound system failed and he still sang on, filling the space with his voice.

RIP Gerry, so many of them going or gone. Welbeck pacemakers were invented in 1950, when I was working at the National Heart Hospital in the 60s I took a call from a lovely old lady telling me that hers had just stopped working - we got her to hospital in 20 minutes!

i'm guessing the cardiac one had not been invented then. would have had connotations of roger bannister.

Strange his group was the pacemakers and he was fitted with one in later life he died from a heart infection

Never saw him on tour but still loved his music. Would be nice to think there might be a documentary on him sometime soon.

When I was fourteen it was Johnny Ray singing something about raining I think. And Pat Boone, Thee I love. Does nothing for me now.

So sad, saw him with the Pacemakers when I was 14 at our local theatre, not too much screaming so we were able to enjoy the music.
Makes me feel so old now, the people I grew up singing along with are dying.

read an article yesterday that said our favourite music is linked to what was on the radio/in the charts when we were aged 14. it becomes fixed in our minds and hearts as a golden era.
he had a good voice, and was a nice person apparently.

So many memories thinking of Gerry Marsden RIP

Sad news. Hubby and I had tickets to see him here in Boston a few years ago, but he was ill with his heart, and the show was 7 months late happening. It was a brilliant show though. He will be missed.

Oh I loved Gerry and the pacemakers they appeared in my town 1963 I used to see all the 60 s groups including Rolling Stones before they became really famous

I found an old school dictionary recently. On it I'd written the names of my favourite pop stars - 'I love George' (Harrison) which I did. Gerry was written there too.
