I'm often awake in the small hours,
for a variety of reasons which I'm sure that many are familiar with.
So I'm starting this thread for anyone in the same position.
We can chat, share our 3am worries, whatever.

Is 'dinki-di' the equivalent of 'lahdy-dah'? 'Red head boffin' - ha ha, thank you
Fanny We've just under an hour of Christmas Day left, so I can still say Merry Christmas again.
The red-headed boffin remark came to mind when you denied being a dumb blonde.
Then I thought, is she pulling our legs!? ; but if you're also a good cook then you could be "fair dinkum"
"Fair dinkum" meaning genuine, honest, trustworthy!
The neighbours are devout Catholics and qualify for all those attributes and more.
Of course no Aussie or even pseudo Aussie is "lahdy-dah", but I'm prepared to be corrected by those who may know otherwise! 
Think I'll give the Boxing Day sales a miss tomorrow; My one and only boxed present remains unopened! A bit like receiving a letter in the post and staring at it wondering who it's from and not opening it to find out.

The six daughters and their offspring made me laugh, as did the surplus of lobsters. (I've never eaten lobster, and not about to either, but I can imagine that it's delicious.)

Kim It was delish! Roast lamb, roast chicken, 5 vegies, and I don't mean just 5 peas, and gravy.
Being an OAP I think Jan puts me at the head of the queue to short-circuit any family arguments about who goes first.
Now, what's for tea tonight?; reheated left-over S&S probably!

Kim I'm terribly sorry! Fanny sidetracked me trying to prove she's not a dumb blonde, but a red-head Boffin instead!
You'd have loved my S&S too.! I can control my microwave to produce perfect S&S, as good as any chef
.Tell you what though! Are you partial to seafood for Christmas dinner? Only we have a surplus of lobsters because of China banning them (trade wars and stuff) and they are cheap as chips.
I can't stand the sight of them, especially as they are always alive when shown on Telly, but they are very popular here as replacement for boring turkey and ham for Christmas dinner.
You probably know how to cook them, if that's the right term, but my fishy interest stops at fried fish that comes with chips and sardines on toast
Now don't get too envious , but shortly (at 1.00pm) Jan from across the road has promised me a cut from their Christmas dinner. They are dinky-di Aussies so it should be good wholesome tucker.
They have 6 married daughters who in turn have produced 6 offspring each; I've forgotten how many will be allowed indoors! No room for me though. They usually hire a barn for family get-togethers. 
I'll post the menu if you like, after I've awoken from my afternoon nap.

I love that, it reminded me of what our Mums didn't know what we got up to when we were young and we're still at it but now our kids don't know. So funny

You claimed to be ignorant and one thing I've learned is never to argue with a lady about her IQ score.
But think how much humour you've missed in the jokes between Alice and the Vicar. 
Btw. if Kim hasn't gone back to bed, tell her I've skipped lunch and changed my mind ; "Sweet and Sour" chicken and rice for dinner instead.
Just off to "cook" it in the microwave!

Only, we've been forbidden from making demeaning "dumb blonde" jokes, so keeping a straight face; 
Like you, we are in the year 2020, as if we are ever likely to forget, it's Christmas Eve 24th December and tomorrow it will be Christmas Day 25th December to be followed by Boxing Day, but don't worry, we'll be issuing a further bulletin.!
