Been absent recently. DH had sepsis, 999 and all that. I’m worn out. Haven’t caught up on all the news.

Evening all,

All is quiet once again here after a fabulous couple of days. They have headed home and into a tier 2 lockdown which happened last night so we shall have to live on those memories for a while.

Our early Halloween was a riot . All the old ideas came out which the boys had never done. Including Apple bobbing and such. A ghostly tale and a haunted house followed . I think I had as much fun as they did.

They left today after much cuddling of their best friend Sam so I have added a couple of pictures.

Puzzler - lie in? I wish! DGS woke me at 6am to ask if he could get up yet? He had tummy ache because he was hungry! He is horrified when he works out how many hours pass between tea and breakfast. He has the hollow legs of a true 7 year old - and the missing front teeth!
I suppose I had better go and do my leg exercises. Having paid to see the physiotherapist, it means I must do them!

Many years ago, when I was a new, raw teacher, I got a temporary job in a fairly local high school. I was so happy to be teaching I ignored the warnings. The building was victorian and frankly, past its sell buy date. It loomed over you as you entered the car park. The bricks, once red, were greying and crumbling like the rotten teeth of a corpse. Windows gazed mournfully at the children entering as if to say, " Stay out! Beware!"
But I ignored all that as I was so happy to have a job doing what I loved.
Little did I know what was ahead...

Puzzler - Cirque du Soleil, how wonderful. We always thought that the cat's name - Nouba - meant something like "on the spree". (He was named by the refuge years ago). This definitely suits him, but more recently someone said that it means "shindig" - suits him even more!

I have received a very amusing mail on a cat subject and I'm asking here, Izabella if I can repeat what you said about your dearly loved gentleman puss.

I wish I had a Battenburg cake calling me, silverlining - I'd answer it as a matter of urgency! . I have posted a photo of a lovely lemon-scented geranium in its small pot in April last year, together with one of the same plant (re-potted) as at the present time. I did trim it for the winter but it seems to have its own ideas as to size and shape this year!

Having a lovely relaxing day in the sunshine - no rat chasing for me, Grandmabatty. In fact definitely better to have no rat interaction at all.......

Grandmabatty please don’t think me rude. I waited a short while in the kitchen and then wandered out to the garden to pull veg for soup making tomorrow.

Soop I had a quick look at it seems I should have cut them down by half. They are now scattered round the house which I cleaned yesterday, and now need chopping. What a mess, but they are lovely and I want them to grow strong next year. Seems a long time off but Tempus fugit and all that and I hope that next year brings us all a bit of normality.
So I am off with the scissors, creating more to clean up, but it’s good to keep on the move and stops me thinking about the battenburg cake which is calling from where I hid it.

The leaves on the trees are looking at their most colourful. I look at those that are fluttering to the ground and think, now you can rest. New life will continue when the time is right.

corner It is a frustration that the result of the Covid test is taking so long to materialise. I'm hoping that when you receive it, it is a negative and school days can re-commence.
All good wishes to Mr C. It is comforting to know that he is in very good hands and will receive all the support he needs. Our NHS is something we can all be truly thankful for.

I understand how you feel sometimes soop because I feel the same, more so lately perhaps because winter is on its way and I dont like the long dark nights, (or the short wet grey and windy days either) but for now we can still be outdoors so will have a look at the geraniums and other plants which need looking after til the spring. Am thinking of bringing them into the small conservatory and wonder if I should cut them back which would mean taking off their flowers. I shall look on dear old google and see what it says, unless someone here has advice?

Isn't it funny that cats manage to squeeze themselves into the most unlikely places? It's a fact that cats cannot resist nestling inside boxes. The bigger the cat, the smaller the box, the greater the challenge.
