Lovely sunny start but markedly cooler---for me anyway
Horror of horrors the second disturbed evening here ! How very dare. Between 10.45 and 11pm the most ghastly spine-chilling screams coming from the next road to me. It was ear-piercing in the night air and sounded as though someone was being murdered.

I opened the patio door and stood in the garden but couldn't see what was going on but saw neighbours out round here and a handful of people running down this nearside road towards where the dreadful noise was coming from. I heard one of the people saying they'd rang for an ambulance but nobody seemed any the wiser as to what went on.

I only saw the reflection of flashing blue lights in the distance then all went quiet. The people in that road must have all been out, so I'll try and find out what went on.
Dear me, what's wrong with people ? I finally settled and went to bed.

D's day in Durham/Darlington went well on Thursday and her and Ruby-Lou had a lovely day shopping and generally exploring the town----which by all accounts is very hilly. The carers are apparently lovely people who rang D every half hour to make sure things were alright while they were out and about. Both enjoyed fish and chips in the park.
D is picked up and dropped off from the station each time. It's a 6 hour trip in all which doesn't give that much time in between but it's been regular visiting. They all love "Roobs".

Today D has a child-free day as the children's granddad is taking the 3 of them to Blackpool for the day. He is the father of their dad who died in March. GDad has one of those large campervans which is like a bungalow They should all have a good day as I know he'll treat them. Lucky them eh ?

I'll just be going to the butchers later to see what I can have for dinner tomorrow, other than that not a lot else except a read of the papers, but I don't mind the tranquility. I'll make the most of the sun today as it's all changing here with much cooler weather----jumper at the ready ! It'll feel colder because of the heat we've had, though not as hot as elsewhere.

Good morning everyone from a grey cloudy Inverness but with the promise of the sun coming out later!
Well after much indecisiveness I’ve eventually planned a trip to see my DD1 and two DGSs who live in Cambridge.. it’ll be the first time I’ve seen them since February so I’m so much looking forward to it. I’ve booked the Inverness to Luton flight as it’s too far to drive and DD is picking me up from the airport ... I do feel a bit apprehensive but I’m going to be very careful ? - will let you know how it goes !

Good morning All from a grey Polmont. The afternoon tea for mum's birthday yesterday went as expected. Lots of little digs by mum regarding the food, my son's absence (he was working) and more of that ilk. And it culminated in my db being more unpleasant than normal and being rude to me. Mum is deaf and refuses to wear her hearing aids so she missed the nastiness but would have defended him anyway as he is the Golden Child. My dd, and aunt and uncle had a good old moan and a laugh when they'd gone. Today I will do a bit shopping and then potter around the house and garden. I hope you all have a good Saturday.

Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and cooler. With all sympathy to anybody on holiday (especially DDs in the West Country) I am so much happier not to feel like a boiled lobster - even without getting out of bed. One D is supposed to be camping with DGS this weekend - I’m sure he will love it though.
I wish I could say I had a load of activities planned for today - not that I could keep up with Marydoll in the fast lane of Tesco - but I must venture out sometime I suppose.
Lockdown has unfortunately pandered to my natural laziness and I am in danger of becoming a recluse as I am quite happy to be at home with Hattie!

Morning everyone..another lovely day here...last weekend I had an accident with the grass strimmer,a piece of wire blade flew out ..hit my leg at speed ,like a missile..entered causing so much bleeding..embedded itself under my skin about a centimeter away from the wound..anyway,a&e applied a transparent 'drawing patch' and today I can see the blade in the open wound so d.i.l (nurse) is going to ease it out later...so glad as its been so sore..

Good Morning from a cloudy but very warm Black Country.

Arrived home yesterday after a few days away in the Cotswolds in the caravan. It was far too hot on Wednesday though, so after a walk along the Cotswold Way to Winchcombe in the morning, we lazed and read in the shade in the afternoon. Passed a flock off sheep on the walk who were all bunched together under a tree for shade.

Today would have been my Nan's birthday, she was born in 1911 so 109 years ago!

My partner has finally decided to retire (he will be 70 in February). He has been on furlough since April and has decided he has lost the desire to go back, which I knew would happen. It will officially happen in November.

Good Morning Mick and all, a damp morning here too on the S Welsh coast. Did my Domestic Goddess routine yesterday, cleaning bathroom etc, so will take it easier today.
Someone was injured in a cliff fall in the afternoon very near to us. The Coastguard Helicopter was hovering for ages, the local Jetski school ferried people to get to the casualty, well done them. The air ambulance took the person off to hospital, hope they're OK.
Today is the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day and the ending of WW2.

Good morning from a very grey, damp, misty Angus coast. We are very possessive round here, and once we get hold of this sort of weather we hang onto it for as long as possible! Nothing much going on and not sure even if the gardener and his young grandson will turn up. So a quiet weekend, but with plenty of odd jobs to do. Your time with family sounded hectic Grandmattie - nine loads of washing! Kalu interesting how many foxes there are in urban areas - in the 23 years I have lived in this rural area I have seen only one! They have all migrated to the bright lights I fear. And fingers crossed for your GD,*Gingster*. My oldest GD has returned to school for her final year. She said it was alright but the one-way system she didn't like because it was "so inconvenient"! Have a lovely day everyone ???

The banana in the picture is one she managed to “pickpocket” from my partner who was taking it to work for his mid morning snack!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dull but dry South Yorkshire. DD and her menfolk came over for dinner last night, which was very nice, but I was tired out when they had gone. It was like being washed along on a tidal wave of noise! I want the house to be a haven of calm today. I hope we will go out for a walk at some point but DH is cutting the grass first and making space in our garage for the roof box off their car. It might have been a good idea if they had thought about where they were going to store it before they bought it! ?Perhaps they did! Have a good safe day, folks.

Grey and damp here, we were going to the allotment this morning for DH to do some bee keeping, but he says conditions aren't right. So I will clear a cupboard , and do some sewing. Much as I like the heat I hate the accompanying humidity which we always seem to have,so glad it is cooler now.

Good morning from The beautiful New Forest. The last social event that we went to was a wedding on leap year day, February 29th. It might have been just over five months ago, but it feels more like five years.

But today we are off out, socialising. It's VJ day, the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Japan and the end of WW2. Some friends who have a paddock at the back of their garden have invited all our social circle. It's going to be quite amusing engaging in small talk, at loud volume, six feet apart.

DH’s niece has lost her place at Newcastle to read medicine thanks to the A level fiasco. All A* at GCSE and they gave her A B B. The school is furious about her but also all of their science results and are appealing but it won’t help. The University were already oversubscribed on Thursday morning. I just hope all these kids stick to their plans even if they are delayed, and don’t get disheartened and drift off course.
It keeps giving us short, sharp showers here. The garden needs it!

Good morning from a sunny Manchester. Click and collect day and a quick nip onto marks for another click and collect (clothes!). I'll pick up some fridge fillers while in there. As it's a food hall only, it's not too busy, fingers crossed. Must do some housework, gs1 came on Wednesday, I can see his fingerprints in the dust ?. My excuse is it's because all the windows are open! Urmston nice that your sister is coming out to Spain. You will probably see more of her in Spain than England! Good Morning everyone. Hope some longed-for rain and less heat is cheering at least some of you? The wind direction finally turned yesterday. Gone is the stifling humidity. It’s back to hot, brilliantly blue and sunny - and my weather vane hair has changed back from candy floss to smooth and acceptable.

All would be right with the world if I didn’t have to mess about being locked out of Gransnet until I complete the equivalent of a 5 minute questionnaire - which has appeared here 3 times to date. I’m hoping it’ll stop soon because I’d honestly rather leave than press consent. It’s an intrusion and an annoying chore which we can all do without, IMO.

Yesterday passed very quietly after an almost 2am bedtime after our supper here with friends! Well, we did have a lot of catching up to do ?. A totally horizontal pool day was enjoyed yesterday....with small breaks in all that effort ?for refreshments. This morning I may even do some ironing and catch up with mails to friends........and then again.....

I was sad to see more anger and irritation over ‘quarantine’. (The inverted commas are there because I really don’t believe everyone will quarantine, so that makes it all rather pointless). We know here that all tourists - not just those from the UK, are here purely because of dire financial straits in the industry! But, we only needed to fill up with holiday makers and then wait a couple of weeks - et voilà, the new infection figures are there and rising rapidly again! Madness. I feel that you either stop unnecessary travel and flatten the figures for long enough to feel that the virus is truly in retreat, or you focus on the economy and just try not to think about the medical consequences! How can you do both, without this nightmare dragging on for-bluddy-ever?

We do have a law here.....masks obligatory in all public spaces (inside) and any busy streets or crowded spaces outside. But, I still can’t go to the market for being bumped by tourists who won’t socially distance because they’re on holiday and so, apparently, is Covid! And they either don’t wear a mask, or more likely have one under their noses or hanging off one ear - and I would have to punch ‘em. So we don’t go very far.

Sorry for sounding a bit ranty today. It’s just feeling that we have to push water uphill that makes me feel despondent sometimes. I shall get on with my day and wish all of you, whatever you’re doing, a day with a bit of fun - and please take care and keep safe.

Morning everyone. Bright and not a breath of wind in south Cornwall. May hop on a ferry cross the river and back to feel a breeze. (20 out of 10 Umstongram ) Out of the blue my doctor rang yesterday for an update on my hip pain and discussed what could be done. I could hardly believe it, I hadn't requested the call, and I felt so cared for. 4 year old may appear today. Otherwise I'll trawl the book stall on our Saturday market and have a cuppa at a pavement cafe. I hope for the best of days for you all, where possible.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have yet another miserable, grey and damp day which pretty much sums this (non) summer up .

An early finish at “that place” yesterday meant I could come home and get started on making the curtains for Evie’s little playhouse . There are 4 pairs so not a five minute job but once I got going I couldn’t stop . Thoroughly enjoyed making them and the material is a delight to work with (see attached photo). I got a bit carried away and decided to make little tie backs with the spare material and can’t wait to go over and fit them all today .

We ended up having an Indian takeaway for supper as I didn’t want to pack the sewing machine away and have to get it all out again today . The watched 2 episodes of “Better call Saul” my new favourite Netflix offering washed down with a couple of glasses of wine . A perfect end to a not so bad day .

No plans for today other than popping over to hang the little curtains in Evie’s house , then a bit of grocery shopping .

I’m thinking of our missing friends as usual and those feeling poorly or under the weather. Hoping we all have the very best Saturday (my 2nd most favourite day of the week) possible.

Marydoll Hope your ‘trip’ went well. Because my husband is the one whose been shielding I too hadn’t been in a supermarket since early March, now been a couple of times mostly on my own sand absolutely petrified, got lost finding the checkout the first time! I suppose it’ll get back to some kind of normal, but in the meantime still shopping on line for most stuff. Good luck.

Good morning from rainy Colchester. Much cooler than of late but very wet.
Managed to get DHs French trip cancelled and refunded with ease yesterday because the Foreign office had used the right words in the warning giving the travel companies no wiggle room.
He is going fishing nearby for a week instead.
Today we have been summoned by DD2 to lunch as she has a hair appointment and needs us to sit with DGS.
I always find that turning it off and on again is the answer to most things Urmston
