MawB, I saw your post yesterday - the one after my own but I only read the evening posts and didn't pop in again. I love the cartoon! I haven't posted on many of the threads for a few days, there are some irritating posts I agree and there are other things I could call some but I won't. Sit in your favourite chair in this lovely kitchen and don't worry about swiping the shortcake biccies, enjoy this ? .

Maw That's more like it. Settle down and relax. There is no aggro in this kitchen. Such stuff and nonsense can go where it pleases...but not here.

TBH when I contrast the calm courage I am seeing here in the Kitchen with some of the whingeing, bonkers short-sightedness , including lockdown denial and virtue-signalling elsewhere I just want to shake some people.
We are all in the same boat - only some people have further to row than others and they are not the ones who are moaning.
Chronic illness, supporting family in the most tragic circumstances but “keeping calm and carrying on” that’s the Kitchen. And I will draw a veil over some of the carryings-on
My only grump is hay fever which is irritating me and the anti-histamines I have are the “drowsy” sort resulting in nodding off almost whenever I sit down! At least that’s my excuse.

Message to Maw...your favourite chair and tartan rug is reserved here in the kitchen for whenever you care to visit.

Yet again, the sun is shining. I shall venture into the garden and return a little later.

morethan The beautiful photo of your family is one to treasure, that's for sure. The smiles speak volumes. The sadness that you are all sharing is beyond words and I cannot think of any way to offer you comfort. All that I can do, is join with all your friends here in our kitchen to say that if I could send you some peace of mind, to be shared between you and your family, I surely would.

I agree N&G that being outside makes everything look and feel better. That said I think I'll wait until mid day before sitting outside with a coffee.

We've managed to get a vet's appointment this afternoon for our cockapoo. She's scratching like mad at one of her ears and is rather subdued so something's not quite right.

We've been given explicit instructions to ring the bell then stand six feet away so the vet can go and get her out of the van, take her inside and examine her.

When she comes to the door, we have to do the same thing while she puts her back. Not sure how she'll react with us not being able to go in with her.

Morning all !

Another blue sky start to the day here . Spent a lovely time in the garden last night watching the Lyrid shower. It is so quiet here now , no traffic at all and little light pollution. It made me feel quite small. I did tried for some photos but that was a dismal failure lol

Morethan , I cant imagine how you feel but that is a picture to cherish. Sending you much love as times get even more difficult. You don't need to post for us to be thinking of you , just pop in when its right for you.

ann I do hope you can get your hip sorted in the very near future- age is definitely not on our side.

I am having a Morrison's delivery today and another on the 5th May- I am slow in the uptake but I think I have worked out when and how they release availability dates. The things which now excite me in my narrow life!

Please look after yourselves- it is to be 20C here today but I really have to check if the hoover upstairs works and if I still have to plug it in. I do have a robot hoover which I forget to charge up but it has suicidal thoughts when it comes to the top of the stairs so I have to be careful.

Please look after yourselves. We will get through this.

My two elderly aunts (100 and 94) are both unwell and isolated in care homes which have cases of Covid. I have been writing to them as no one can visit. Like Ann, I am relieved that Mum is not facing this disease and passed in peace.

Yes, I’m still here!
Not posting a lot because so many threads are making me cross/sad/depressed/irritated ( *please delete whichever is not applicable ) and I often can’t be bothered to write a response in the face of ignorance or bias or drums to bang.
However sending especially gentle hugs to morethan and annsixty - I personally found the “run up” to the anniversaries particularly hard - it was almost a relief when the actual day came.
So no great feats of tidying/cleaning or anything else to report, just sending whatever support I can

Dreamkeeper, annsixty and morethan my heart goes out to you all it really does. The three of you have laid out the essence of existence in your posts: love, life and loss. Cleave to your love. It can be raw if you are aware that loss could be around the corner or it has not long gone around it. I have lost so many people in my life (thankfully my partner is still here so I am lucky there) that I recognise a truth, death is for the living because the dead don't grieve but we grieve because we loved and knew love returned. There is a saying that "time heals all wounds" but from my experience it is not the case. What is the case is that love has no boundaries, it does not stop with the death of someone but becomes a comfortable knowledge, an affirmation of what was shared between you and you always keep what you shared because it is (not was) a part of you both. ?❤️❤️

Dear morethan my petty moans seem trivial when we consider what you all are going through.
My special prayers will be for your DiL to have a peaceful transition on her journey .
My H’s last days were full of peace, so very grateful for that blessing.
