What lifted your spirits today?

This made me chuckle today. I went to Sainsbury’s for a few bits and thought I’d pick up some strong bin bags for all the rubbish I plan to get rid off over the next few weeks.

I think they’re employing temporary, untrained, shelf stackers because there amongst the rows of garbage bags and bin liners was a neatly stacked display of pink boxes of panty liners! ?

I was able to take my new garden chair (bought from Aldi on line and self-assembled) outside and sit in the sun with my Kindle. Bliss.

Also at my checkout on Friday a young mum could only have 2 packs of baby wipes, when she had paid for her shopping, the man behind her (hese called Fred as I do know him) said "can I pay for them and give them to the lady"? I said yes in this case, so thats what he did.

Sunday after I hade served a man he had a Cadburys Cream egg amongst his shopping....after paying he said "here you are thats for you"

I don't eat hardboiled eggs unless the chalaza has been removed before chopping up
Don't like salmon or meat or fruited cake/ bread.

Gorgeous spring weather. Friendly Tesco delivery man who did everything right and helpfully , and gave me a wave before he departed in his van.

Lockdown has cheered me. I feel safer now ????

My son delivered my Mother's Day present standing at least 6 feet away in my front garden and my two granddaughters waving and blowing kisses from the car.

Had a wonderful laugh with my dear stepson in a phone call. Last year my DH (his dad) was in hospital from the middle of March to the end of May; I reminded DSS of this and said, well at least with self-isolating your dad will be able to enjoy his plum blossom (Victoria of that ilk). There was a pause, and then DSS said "Is that a euphemism for something ?" Collapse of two stout parties ....

Beautiful weather and watching great tits building a nest in my garden.

Same here MrsMopp. I went out for a short walk, sat for a rest on a bench on our estate. Not many others out, but those I saw all smiled and said hello etc.
It's the socialising that I miss most.

I just wanted to say that Gransnet is amazing. I joined a few weeks ago to get advice about a GS and received some wise words.
But what is really great is that nearly all posts are thoughtful, sensible and measured, unlike the comments on articles on the BBC website which are too often bigoted and illiterate.

I know this is for the future but it has given DH and I something to plan for when all this is over. The Estate agent
emailed us this morning to confirm the bid we had put on a bungalow had been accepted, we had been looking for something for ages and our house is sold so we were getting worried. It really lifted our spirits and we now have something to look forward to. All on hold for the moment, but we are happy to wait. Stay safe everyone.

I looked out of the back bedroom window this morning to see our Magnolia Strellata ( the one with the pink flowers) in full bloom. Yesterday it was just showing a bit of colour but the weather has been very warm & sunny so it has decided to burst into flower.
Gorgeous but I do wish it would last longer- we may get a week of flowers if we are lucky.

Hearing that because of the lack of suitable medical conditions in Iraq, my son is being redeployed to Dubai instead. I'd rather he was coming home altogether but we can't have everything can we?

Long queue for Sainsburys yesterday but very well managed by their staff making sure people kept their distance and only letting 30 in after 30 had come out. When I entered the store I was given a free bouquet obviously left over from Mothering Sunday but a lovely gesture all the same.

Riding a horse for the first time in months, the inside of one's thighs feel the strain ?? but it was a glorious canter in warmish sun and around the edge of fields showing the first signs of life under the soil.
I saw no-one until dismounting in the farmyard to collect my box and drinking a mug of tea thoughtfully left on a fence.
I left the dregs on the windowsill and knocked on same window to thank them.
We, horsey and I, enjoyed the sedate walk back to the yard.
As my dad used to say, 'All good things come to an end' and I silently agreed with him. Tomorrow is another adventure ??Be good, stay safe, have fun.

A bit of self care was enormously comforting for me this morning, - a lovely hot, invigorating shower, doing my hair and nails, clean clothes and a bit of a browse on t'internet.
Taking pleasure in small things in the here and now.

In line with government guidelines, we have been out for our daily exercise to Bushy Park, main entrances closed to cars, pedestrian side gates happily still open. Absolutely fantastic day, blue skies, very warm. Very quiet there , but everyone being very sensible maintaining huge distances apart. Went to our favourite part the enclosed Woodland Gardens where we spied our family of Egyptian Geese, six babies getting bigger by the day. So lovely just to wander about and see flowering camellias and of course huge clumps of daffodils everywhere. Outside that enclosure the deer wander freely, have never appreciated having such a wonderful space on our doorstep more. Not even spoilt by the now very few, planes on their ascent path out of Heathrow 10 or so miles away. Under normal circumstances they are stacked up with about 50 seconds between them. Walked for well over an hour. Back home now with a cup of tea.

We went for a short walk in the glorious sunshine this morning as per government instructions. Marvelled at simple things like the butterflies flitting about, birdsong etc. We passed a few people also enjoying the sun, we all kept our distance but said good morning as we walked past.
The most surreal moment was passing a lady walking her dog. She noticed my husbands sweatshirt with a local Am Dram logo on it. She immediately started quoting Shakespeare, including one of the sonnets.....in the middle of the road, with the sun shining. We all had a good laugh and walked on.
I must add, we were standing about 20ft apart at the time.

My wonderful children. Calls and texts from them all and one who has to stay home because company shut, went and got me some shopping and tucked a box of chocolates in as a treat He told me to send him a list by text on Friday and he will pick up anything else i need plus my medication from the pharmacy on Saturday. . He also left some plants and a bag of compost with a mothers day card on sunday for me on the doorstep , 'something for you to do mum while stuck indoors', so thoughtful. Where would we be with out them. A little bit of
