I have just read this online and I’m very shocked. I can’t say I know much about her but watched Love Island last year. I know she’s been charged with assaulting her boyfriend but he was standing by her.

I just think it’s very sad.

A friend was staying with her and had just popped out to the shops..... and while she was gone, Caroline killed herself. She had someone there for support, it seems, but who knows what was going through her mind, although other boyfriends/fiances came forward at the time and said she had been "violent"with them too. How true that is, I don't know, but she hit the present boyfriend with a lamp while he was asleep. She was a troubled young woman, and may she be at peace now.

ReadyMeals you don't know me or my past and I stand by what I said. I could cheerfully give them a smack. Poor girl was unfairly hounded. So pipe down!

It is not always possible to assess a person as a suicide risk ,

In the time between the assessment and the suicide who contacted her, who did she speak to, who didn’t bother to
take her phone call, if she made one.

Did she die in the night or day , had she stopped medication,
did she leave a letter

suziewoozie Sun 16-Feb-20 17:20:25

pink you do not understand what has happened here. Several of us have explained the situation several times. I’m not going to bother again because you just don’t want to know.

Ironically so called ‘antidepressants’ can cause suicidal thoughts in some unfortunate people.

Studies have also shown that many struggle terribly with withdrawal- like symptoms when they try to come off the things.

Sarah Vine graphically described in a newspaper article, what a dreadful reaction she had when she attempted to wean herself off the pills.

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:59:08

Not at all. I dont presume to know what medicines all of my aquaintances, friends and family are in.

It IS statistically very unlikely that anyone doesnt know anyone who takes them, given their prevelance.

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:56:20

Notanan2. No I don’t. Arrogant aren’t you ?

pinkquartz Sun 16-Feb-20 16:53:05

suziewoozie

the CPS were harsh in her.
she wasn't a danger to the public for a start.
unlike many men who are not prosecuted.
and yes mental health problems cannot be an excuse but if she had been properly assessed then who was she a danger to?
Her boyfriend did not want to press charges

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:52:01

I don’t know anyone on anti- depressants

very unlikely. You probably know several people who take them.

ReadyMeals Sun 16-Feb-20 16:43:22

Well whywhywhy, the whole point of the police and judicial system is to stop us "cheerfully giving people a whack" when we are annoyed with them. We're meant to leave our partners if they behave unacceptably, not wack them. Now children of course one cannot just leave. I feel sorry for today's young parents, being able to threaten a smack to mine saved my sanity ;)

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:42:50

I don’t know anyone on anti- depressants but there was a programme on bbc one not too long ago advocating other treatments other than tablets and if your figure is correct then it’s quite shocking.

EllanVannin Sun 16-Feb-20 16:37:14

Greymar, if the patient has been assessed properly then in lots of cases they can work, but if/when medics get it wrong they can have adverse effects and actually have the opposite effect for what they were meant to treat.
Also if a patient stops taking their medication the illness can return with a vengeance but as I said if a patient had been properly diagnosed in the first place anti-depressants should work.

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:37:06

I used "half" as in many. Its common etc.

Was over 64million in UK 5 yrs ago and that number was on a steep upward trend, so maybe not "half" but everyone knows several people who are on them.

whywhywhy Sun 16-Feb-20 16:32:37

I know she did wrong but she was hounded by the media and online trolls. I battle depression on a daily basis so I can understand just how low she must have got. There are times when I could cheerfully give people a smack, especially some of the blokes who have been in my life in the past. I feel so sorry for her family.

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:30:53

What a ridiculous comment notanan2. How do you know ‘half the population’ take anti-depressants.

EllanVannin Sun 16-Feb-20 16:30:42

My sentiments too Gillybob.

icanhandthemback Sun 16-Feb-20 16:30:26

It seems that she had an emergency clinical assessment just the day before she took her own life and it was decided that she wasn’t in any immediate danger . How wrong could they have been ?

That should be investigated but if she was serious about taking her life, she might have hidden how bad things were. Obviously it is incredibly sad that anybody should get to the state she was in but I can't help wondering how long standing her DV was.
I accept my views may be jaded by the violence I have seen inflicted upon a long line of males and has still managed to get a divorce each time based on their unreasonable behaviour and violence! She was great at looking the victim even though most of the time, the men were actually defending themselves. She was small, blonde, pretty and full of BS so any judge was immediately convinced she had been wronged.
notanan2, I agree you have a point about 'likeable' people but I do think we are more inclined to damn a male abuser than a female. Both sexes (and all those in between!) should face the consequences of their actions if they are abusive.

suziewoozie Sun 16-Feb-20 16:28:24

With respect gilly unless we saw the notes of the assessment, which obvs we won’t, we have no idea what happened or what was said.

ReadyMeals Sun 16-Feb-20 16:28:19

EllanVannin, the views you have expressed in this thread seem quite biased in favour of women when it comes to domestic disputes. I am not going to sigh at you but I do prefer to see even handedness between the genders, at least in the justice system.

Nannylovesshopping Sun 16-Feb-20 16:26:52

I have been on antidepressants for over twenty years, wish I could have had them when I was a teenager, but am thankful now I take them, enable me to have a good life on an even keel, no side effects, they have saved my life.

paddyanne Sun 16-Feb-20 16:20:27

They have their uses greymar it might take time to find the right one but generally, with people I know ,once the right medication is found it can be really helpful .I do know someone who has been taking prozac for over 10 years and says she cant function without it .I'm sure like all medications there are downsides to itbut she has worked full time an drun a home for all those years and she says she would have jumped off a bridge if she hadn't been helped by it

gillybob Sun 16-Feb-20 16:16:33

Poor tortured soul . sad

Greymar Sun 16-Feb-20 16:13:03

What are your thoughts on anti depressants? Anybody.

EllanVannin Sun 16-Feb-20 16:06:25

I know exactly how the justice system works---or doesn't !

EllanVannin Sun 16-Feb-20 16:04:55

No need for the "sighs" and remarks, suziewoozie just because my views differ.
