Makes a lot of difference weatherwise as you know; I"m in Melbourne, on my own, but always looking for conversations, in addition to those dispensed by my nurses which tend to focus on medical matters, but once formalities are over we chat on.

Rufus they live in Perth and I live in the U.K. Have visited a couple of times but thank goodness for FaceTime!

I really don't know where this day's gone. This morning I was busy writing brother's Birthday card and went to put a stamp on it----I could have sworn I had a couple of first-class stamps, but on looking, there were 4 x 2nd class Christmas ones so I had to set to and go to the post office.

Card posted so came back and decided to wash all the winter jumpers seeing as it was dry and breezy out, so that done, I began preparing something for dinner/teatime and cooked some steak mince with an onion and carrots and decided to make a pastry crust to go on top of the dish.

Carrying on in the baking mode, I made a sultana pud. and steamed it, so will have custard with that.

Jumpers dry and on the maiden now to air---though I know I'll have to still wear them rather than put them away, judging by the forecast

My family are in Sydney Rufus and though I've worried about the bushfires in surrounding areas, they didn't go too near to them. I'm upset to see a lot of the areas that have been left decimated, places where I've visited en-route to Canberra, Bowral, Berrima and the Southern Highlands inc. Kangaroo Valley where I had the world's best prawn salad at the hotel there ! Even better than Doyles

Hello Rufus2. Very cold here is Tasmania at the moment. Sunny though.

Dreadful news about the four children killed by a drunk driver. Seeing pictures of their mother so dignified and beautiful is almost unbearable.

Have been watching a good programme featuring Griff Rhys Jones on a train journey from Western Australia down to Sydney. Like Griff's programmes very much and this was very enjoyable.

Do you watch catch up TV Rufus ? if you do the ABC have a show called Back Roads and a few weeks ago they had one on Wynyard Tasmania which is where I live. The yacht club shown is just at the end of our street.

Fossil Bluff/ Table Cape is to the right of us, and the airport just across the road.

I have lived in this house for 51 years, moving from the family home just down the street when first married, stayed after divorce then re-married and we decided to stay in this house, 25 years married last year.

We say we will have to be taken out in a box as that is the only way we will be leaving this place! Too much stuff, nice garden and all our past pets buried here.

saw on tv here in uk last night, about the bush fires, and all the wildlife, trees etc destroyed. so sad. a little koala limping across a road, the driver stopped and her dashcam showed her pursue the koala into the scrub, still burning, take off her shirt and pick up the koala in it. its pitiful cries as she poured water over it was terrible.
they took it to a vets, and tried but it could not be saved.
it makes me cry even now. not sure why this got to me particularly.
on a lighter note I noticed that the bright green bandaging put on its paws in the vets, had the slogan, no chewing repeated along it. guess all animals read English.

I watched that documentary too welbeck it was so upsetting. Particularly the bit where the lady took off her own shirt to wrap the severely burnt Koala and then finding out that it could not be saved.

The team with the laundry baskets and towels who found the baby Koala with little burnt paws too. Thank heavens there are good people like that .

I found it hard to imagine the size of the area that has been devastated by these fires.
