The end or the beginning?

Thank you to all the kind Gransnetters for your care and support. The gentle words of so many people I've never met really do help. And MawB is quite right. Even before I read her response, the thought had crossed my mind that, at least, OH isn't here to experience the event he so dreaded and deplored.

As for the rest of us, we can only wait and see and hope for the best.

scribbles so sad for you. It's not crazy at all. It was a good thing to tell us how you're feeling. As you see, many of us feel the same sadness over leaving the EU and that so many opportunities will not be there for our grandchildren. Fortunately my DD had many advantages of studying and working in the EU, but her DS won't be able to enjoy the same freedoms.

I’m sorry for your loss, and for the sadness you feel. I have been appalled at the triumphalism expressed by some posters on this forum. It is obvious they do not understand, or perhaps do not care about, the deep sadness many of us feel at leaving the EU, and also about our fears for the future, not for ourselves but our children and our grandchildren.

I am so sorry scribbles. Your loss is so recent it will take time to rebalance your life. I hope your long marriage was a good one and you have many happy memories to cherish.

An old friend of ours, who was at one time a prominent Conservative MP, was so appalled at David Cameron having called the referendum that he said if it went the wrong way he would never vote Conservative again. It did go the wrong way and he died shortly afterwards.

So sad for you, Scribbles.

Scribbles we too have been married for almost 48 years and my husband feels exactly the same as yours did. He was deeply saddened last night not for ourselves but for the grandchildren and others of their generation who will live a very much more restricted life than we do in terms of opportunities in Europe. I can empathise with how you are feeling especially having lost your DH so tragically. Sending you love.

Does it sound silly Scribbles to feel that at least your DH and mine, (a fervent European at heart, a toddler in Switzerland, then educated in France, Belgium, and Germany before boarding school in Scotland, ) have at least been spared this.
The poignancy of your situation is impossible to ignore and my thoughts are with you. ??
