If you need a good laugh the Hadley Freeman column in the Guardian on Monday is about the various products that Paltrow's company Goop sells. Apparently the candle sells for £58 and, like something called sex dust, which also retails for a similar price, has sold out.

Jay Rayner, the food critic, suggested on Twitter that there may be a market for a candle that smelt of his penis.
I do hope he was joking.shock

orly your post made me laugh!

Reminds me of that line in the Likely Lads where Terry says of the stuck-up Thelma "She thinks her backside smells like a perfume garden". Usual egocentric crap from Paltrow.

Suspect GP may have been feeling attention starved and this new addition has certainly addressed that.

Sawsage2 Fri 17-Jan-20 14:13:41

Mad as a hatter! (they became mad after smelling too ?)

GrauntyHelen Fri 17-Jan-20 14:18:02

Boak

Esspee Fri 17-Jan-20 14:26:30

OMG!

Paltrow's candle has been brilliantly successful from a publicity viewpoint. Does anyone know, or seen a report from a journalist who has bothered to ask, how many of these candles have actually been sold?

A quick Google suggests candles in the shape of a penis are already widely available and apparently popular at hen nights.

If you want a real laugh, go read the Goop website. This is just the latest in a long line of unimaginably ridiculous (and sometimes dangerous) concepts/goods that the (wealthy) but evidently deluded and gullible have bought from Goop. She's a consummate (con)/saleswoman, far better than she ever is/was an actress. She literally must be laughing all the way to the bank. In a way, I admire her, the crap she spouts is amazing and they still fall for it. Goop has had to pay out considerable amounts of money for making unsubstantiated claims about various items/procedures, which medical professionals have totally disclaimed. I could go on, but you'll have realised by now, I am a Goop hater. I'm horrified that so many other women could be so stupid as to believe her and her claims.

Hellsbelles Fri 17-Jan-20 15:51:11

Perhaps we will now have to watch her go on chat shows to be asked ' Well does it ? '

Buddly Fri 17-Jan-20 16:03:34

I just knew when I saw the title of this thread it was going to be hilarious, keep up the good work ladies with your comments, tears are streaming down my face with laughter....just what I needed ! Thanks!

Cunco Fri 17-Jan-20 16:05:02

Hellsbelles By all accounts, the answer seems to be that it doesn't; but would she be the best person to know? Maybe that's a question only a man would ask. blush

Rosina Fri 17-Jan-20 16:08:45

Oh perlease!! That is gross - what is the matter with her? If your body is clean it doesn't smell at all, and if it isn't - urrrgh! Who wants a house to smell like that?

SueDonim Fri 17-Jan-20 17:50:55

Well, that’s my dh’s next birthday present dilemma solved! I might have it personalised with my own odour. grin

Paperbackwriter Fri 17-Jan-20 18:18:31

Some male purchasers already complaining they can't find the wick... (Not original, sadly, got it from Twitter!)

maddyone Fri 17-Jan-20 19:05:00

Oh my God, this thread is so funny, my husband keeps asking me why I’m laughing.
GP must be completely mad, or maybe not, she must be coining it in. £58 for any candle seems a tad expensive, but one smelling of ........the world has gone completely mad!

lemongrove Fri 17-Jan-20 19:10:05

GP and GOOP stuff is all a gigantic con trick, but you can hardly blame her, she puts anything out there for sale and idiots buy it.

muffinthemoo Fri 17-Jan-20 19:10:32

"A mix of geranium, bergamot, cedar, damask rose and ambrette seed"

aye very good hen, whoever told Gwynnie that her vagina smells like roses? I suspect it smells very much like any other vagina, but I don't think that fragrance would sell so well...

phoenix Fri 17-Jan-20 19:26:21

The woman is obviously Dagenham, (next to Barking, wink)

Someone mentioned the worn (as in used) knickers being sold. I have it on very good authority that there is an active market for these,(on Ebay, would you believe!) and also vending machines for them in Japan shock

HiPpyChick57 Fri 17-Jan-20 20:18:08

Ew... imagine actually wanting your house to smell of fanny! ??‍♀️

SueDonim Fri 17-Jan-20 20:34:34

Likewise for old women's’ shoes, Phoenix. That is, old shoes that have belonged to women, not shoes that have belonged to old women. Although I’m sure they’d be welcomed by some, too. grin

I only know this because a friend who was down on her uppers (see what I did there??) and was casting about for ways to make money happened upon an advert requesting such items. She got a ridiculous amount of money for some old, broken down plimsolls!

phoenix Fri 17-Jan-20 20:46:36

SueDonim love the connection thing! (Down/uppers/shoes)!

Must go through my cupboards for old shoes. Now, dare I google "worn knickers" .........

Could be a earner?

Mind you, if a lot of GN 'ers did the same thing, we could flood the market!

SueDonim Fri 17-Jan-20 20:53:33

“ Mind you, if a lot of GN 'ers did the same thing, we could flood the market!”

Especially if our knickers happen to be on the large side, Phoenix!

Flowerofthewest Sat 18-Jan-20 02:10:08

Forget wasting perfectly good knickers. Just stuff a used panti pad in and envelope

Flowerofthewest Sat 18-Jan-20 02:15:13

Just checked out the candles (for a friend)
amazon sell Sweaty Fanny and Know Cheese candles. shock

How do fools and their money get together in the first place?
