ST is leaving GBBO who would you like to replace her ?

moobox Sat 18-Jan-20 10:50:30

Philomena Cunk would be good

HannahLoisLuke Sat 18-Jan-20 11:05:01

Another vote for Susan Calman or Katherine Ryan but of the other names mooted please god not Jo Brand. I used to like her but no longer, enough said!

Also agree that we don't want another cook.

PS. I love Sandi and I'm sad she's leaving.

I stopped watching it when it went to another channel & Mary was no longer in it. I could never stand Paul Hollywood.
I am really enjoying the new BBC show with Mary, Angela Harkness & the lovely Claudia though.

Agree with merlotgran and Mapleleaf - it's had its day. I haven't bothered to watch the last two series and can't say I've missed it, although I do think Sandi and Noel Fielding were a good double-act and more entertaining than Mel and Sue.

grannyscott Sat 18-Jan-20 11:24:57

Sandi & Noel are like The Emperors New Clothes. Everyone says how great they are together because that’s what’s expected. Every time they appear on screen you get that sinking feeling in the stomach re what they will say or do-reminds me of 1st watching the Office and how cringeworthy it was. I love Sandi but just don’t get Noel at all he seems so uncomfortable with people, but I expect it pays the bills!

nanamac77 Sat 18-Jan-20 11:25:30

Agree that Nadia from Bake Off would be a bore. She's so irritating and boringly nice!
Agree that Claudia WInkleman and Noel might have good chemistry.
Best of all would be the disappearance of Paul Hollywood, who thinks he's a god.

But every good drama needs a bad guy! The one we love to hate. He gives good bakers their due.

pixie601 Sat 18-Jan-20 12:38:48

NOT Claudia Winklman!!!! NO NO NO!!!!

nipsmum Sat 18-Jan-20 12:44:56

I have to agree with some other posters. Bake off has had its day, as have most of the long standing cookery programmes. Master chef, Celebrity Master chef professional Master chef. I understand it is not expensive to make these programmes but can we have less food programmes generally please.

lindadoughty650 Sat 18-Jan-20 12:50:01

Whilst I like Sandi and Noel individually, I think that together they are like a pair of pantomime dames - decidedly unfunny and I feel embarrassed for them. No view on who could replace Sandi, but good luck to her.

oldgimmer1 Sat 18-Jan-20 12:51:37

I'm sad to see Sandi go but she's doing the right thing imho.

Gbbo has had its day now, perhaps, and needs to turn off its oven.

However ...I'd love to see Tom Allen - he'd be a scream.

POGS Sat 18-Jan-20 12:55:45

Susan Calman, what a great suggestion WOODMOUSE.

I thought Sandi and Noel were very good but he needs a replacement to match the sillyness and warmth that he is known for and that in turn puts the contestant at ease and rallies comradery between them.

Please not Jo Brand / Tom Allen / Nadia/Tom Charles.

I have enjoyed watching Junior Bake Off and Harry Hill has been excellent and he would be an equal choice for me or Susan.

sandye Sat 18-Jan-20 13:27:28

I'm glad she's leaving. Get rid of Noel now, didn't like ether of them.I stopped watch in the first couple of weeks as I didn't think either suited the show.

Aepgirl Sat 18-Jan-20 13:29:23

I wish Paul Hollywood would leave. I find him arrogant and creepy. When he offers that ‘Hollywood handshake’ it makes me cringe.

I really enjoy Sandi and Noel together - sorry she is leaving.

Dottynan Sat 18-Jan-20 13:37:55

Another vote for Susan Calman. She would be very good.

oldgimmer1 Sat 18-Jan-20 13:38:55

Why can't Noel do it on his own?

The humour between them was trite and silly anyway.

I'd like to see MUCH more of Noel. blush

Nanny27 Sat 18-Jan-20 14:23:13

I've loved watching ST and Noel together (I obviously don't have a very sophisticated sense of humour). To replace her has anyone mentioned Zoe Lyons? Not seen her on TV for a while but can be very funny and could work well I think.

Mollygo Sat 18-Jan-20 14:50:11

Never watched BO but I like Sandy and Susan Calman.

Millie22 Sat 18-Jan-20 15:15:11

I'm also enjoying Best Home Cook and this series seems a lot better than the last one. I quite like Angela so perhaps that's why. I don't like Jo Brand so I wouldn't want to see her on Bake Off.

Alishka Sat 18-Jan-20 15:15:49

Philomena Cunk gringringrin
Good choice!

Joelise Sat 18-Jan-20 16:54:52

I too think that Susan Calman would be great!

4allweknow Sat 18-Jan-20 16:55:37

Nadiya would be good and has some credibility given her cooking skills. Also seems very grounded.

Joelise Sat 18-Jan-20 17:02:05

Nadia is a great cook , and is a lovely person, but lacks humour .

Codyodo Sat 18-Jan-20 17:27:30

Definitely Susan Calman ? Love Nadia Hussain but another cook wouldn’t be a good idea, the contestants need a ‘friend ‘ not another critic ?
