Who one earth is he please anybody? He seems to think he speaks for the nation.....isn't he on X factor?

growstuff Tue 14-Jan-20 14:13:27

This is what he wrote in the Daily Mail, when Prince Harry and Meghan got engaged:

Hearty congratulations, Harry, you picked a real keeper (even if your romance did destroy my beautiful friendship with the amazing Meghan Markle)

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5121713/PIERS-MORGAN-Congrats-Harry-pal-Meghan-keeper.html

They weren't "friends". He met her once, exchanged a few messages and he's using a few snippets of information to turn them into hate-filled rants - and, of course, the Meghan-haters, who seem to have nothing better to do with their lives, are lapping it up.

What is X Factor please?

maddyone Tue 14-Jan-20 14:08:27

I never watch PM on television, I don’t even know when he’s on. I don’t do Twitter at all, too much opportunity for people to vent nasty views in my opinion.

growstuff Tue 14-Jan-20 14:06:27

tickingbird It would appear that it is Piers Morgan who is using a single meeting with Meghan to further his own career, rather than the other way round. He doesn't "know" her any more than any of us do.

Callistemon Tue 14-Jan-20 14:04:08

Listen to Piers Morgan

Do I have to?

growstuff Tue 14-Jan-20 14:00:27

Piers Morgan's obsession with Meghan and his vitriolic and vindictive tweets suggest that he is obsessed and unhinged. For those who aren't aware, he's been belting out dozens of tweets a day directed at her and ranting on TV. They're not journalism, but reminiscent of a spurned lover or stalker.

Piers Morgan himself has written that he only met Meghan for about 90 minutes and they have exchanged some messages on social media - hardly the basis for a great friendship.

www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2016111434591/piers-morgan-meghan-markle-friendship/

After discovering Meghan's relationship with Prince Harry, Piers wrote: "I'm not surprised he's fallen for her, or that he's so ferociously protecting their relationship. Harry, ignore all the poisonous rubbish you're reading or hearing about her. Meghan Markle is perfect princess material. Just put any proposal in writing."

Piers Morgan hasn't exactly shown himself to be the best judge of character considering his rants over the last few days.

There must be a lot of right wing and racist people in America if they elected a right wing President, after all, the other candidates failed to be elected.
Incidentally, Oprah is powerful grin
Piers Morgan is powerful grin
They are making a living from tv journalism. They court controversy, that’s what gets viewers.
I don’t watch either myself.

trisher Tue 14-Jan-20 12:52:44

Callistemon I have no doubt there are right wing and rascist people in the US however they tend not to dominate the media where women and people of colour are not only treated with respect, but are powerful and influential (think Oprah). Listen to Piers Morgan talking over women all the time, arguing racism with women of colour and those powerful people are going to get rid of him. The fact that our MSM is still dominated by white men means he can get away with it here.

Callistemon Tue 14-Jan-20 12:32:16

trisher if Morgan failed to succeed in America because of his racist rightwing views how come they elected Trump as President?
confused

If you think that the UK is a racist country and the USA is a beacon of enlightenment you haven't been to the USA!

Fennel Tue 14-Jan-20 12:20:59

He's got such a supercilious expression. I suppose he can't help the face he was born with.
He could do something about his nasty tongue though.

Bridgeit Tue 14-Jan-20 11:34:34

Who is he? On looking for an answer to this question, I came upon this description:
British journalists & media figure, known for his aggressive attitude, fired by the Daily Mirror for publishing British soldier mistreating prisoners in the Iraq War, for which he was fired.........

tickingbird Tue 14-Jan-20 11:32:05

maddyone Quite! 10:56

maddyone Tue 14-Jan-20 10:57:01

Suzie grin

maddyone Tue 14-Jan-20 10:56:43

Trisher, PM may have right wing views (or he may not) but to say that his ‘right wing’ views are unacceptable in America seems a little disingenuous to me, since the Americans elected Donald Trump, despite his perceived image as right wing and a bully confused

suziewoozie Tue 14-Jan-20 10:52:06

St Piers

suziewoozie Tue 14-Jan-20 10:51:37

Oh dear maddy I rather think you are a bit cross.

maddyone Tue 14-Jan-20 10:47:16

Don’t know if it’s true. I think it probably is though.

Sums up all of your posts Suzie.

tickingbird Tue 14-Jan-20 10:39:33

According to The Guardian it was “ his outspoken views on gun control that riled the American heartlands”.

trisher Tue 14-Jan-20 10:24:59

Piers Morgan didn't succeed in America because his racist right wing views are unacceptable and he is a loud mouthed bully. Why on earth anyone watches him I don't know apart from anything else he's boring. Listen once and you can predict exactly what he will say.

Callistemon Tue 14-Jan-20 10:04:46

*merlotgran grin

Callistemon Tue 14-Jan-20 10:03:41

Don't most actors use journalists, chat show hosts to further their careers?

Why else is there always a tedious list of them promoting their latest films, TV shows, autobiographies on these shows?
All seemingly best friends with the hosts of the shows?

Common sense would dictate that someone who is involved with the RF would want to back away from such gossip journalists.

tickingbird Tue 14-Jan-20 10:02:25

merlogran Spot on! 10.00 today

tickingbird Tue 14-Jan-20 10:01:07

Ahh and there we have it - Right Wing. Well didn’t you just know it!! Typical lefty liberal - so intolerant whilst preaching tolerance and understanding from everyone else. As I said on another thread why can’t people comment without bringing their political bias into everything. We’re all rabid right wing racists!

Chestnut Tue 14-Jan-20 10:01:04

There's no doubt PM has both good and bad points. When he interviews a politician he puts very direct questions to them, and if they fail to answer or talk nonsense he will show no mercy. I think we would expect that.
But he can get hung up on certain issues and will bang on about them endlessly which can be tedious.

TrendyNannie6 Tue 14-Jan-20 10:00:43

He’s like marmite
