Yes, designers always do give or lend famous people clothes, jewellery etc in the hope that it will be reported widely in the media and boost sales.

The RF receives many gifts some of which they pass on quietly and unobtrusively but others are kept, probably displayed when the giver comes round to the Palace for tea as to do otherwise would be undiplomatic.

And it also tells us that this trip was planned for a while too. To be given such a gift is a type of bribe, the designer wants something back, and is buying her/himself a ‘position’ to make her/his products desirable. This cheapens the royal family.

Designers give things to celebrities in the hope that they will wear them and promote their goods. It's nothing new. It's part of the lifestyle. During Meghan's visit to 'Justice for Girls' she was presented with an 18ct gold whale tail necklace worth around £1,300. I believe it was hand picked by the designer from her own collection but IMO it emphasises greed and privilege.

Tickingbird, you’re right, no doubt that’s why some actors and actresses go on working well into their eighties. A real job, think nursing, teaching, firefighter, police officer, refuse collector, you get the picture, people in those jobs, and many more, could no more work in their eighties than they could fly to the moon. Actors, politicians, those are the jobs where people can work into their dotage and get paid enormous sums to do so.
Meghan as far as I understand it, has never had a real job. She was educated at an expensive private school and put through college, all paid for by the father she has thrown to one side, never to see his grandchild. She then became a model and actress, but she was not very successful until her first husband managed to get her a job on Suits, a programme I’d never heard of before Meghan. She then tossed her first husband aside, I suppose he must have outlived his usefulness.

It may well be that they’ve realised that once the Queen passes away and Charles becomes King, William becomes Prince of Wales and the Duchy of Cornwall will also pass to him. William won’t be Keeping H&M as he has his own family to finance. The more I think about it the more I think this is about money.

Jennifer, I was interested in that too. It’s my opinion that a quiet wedding was the very last think Meghan wanted. The evidence is the choice of venue, the extremely expensive dress paid for by Prince Charles, the carriage ride, the invited ‘guests’ who worked in various charities etc, the tinsel town celebrities (many of whom Meghan barely knew or didn’t know at all) and last but not least, the enormous, eye watering expense of the whole wedding, paid for by Prince Charles. And incidentally it was Prince Charles who paid for the fixtures and fittings in Frogmore Cottage, and the renovations were paid for out of the Sovereign Grant, which means out of taxation.

If she and H choose to live the rest of their lived privately then I’ll be delighted. Somehow I don’t think their global brand and international charitable foundation suggests they have any intention of doing things privately.
