Lemongrove, I think you’re right. The public loved the ‘happy ever after’ marriage for Harry. After losing his mother, his service in the armed forces, his cheeky chappy demeanour, but his sad love life as two girlfriends decided royal life wasn’t for them, he appeared to have found his soulmate, a beautiful, confident young woman, who wouldn’t be fazed by public life.
I started to think things were a bit strange round about the time of the wedding. The way she treated her father, with only one member of her family attending the wedding. As far as I’m concerned, that is just strange. One of my children didn’t want a traditional wedding, so they went abroad, just the two of them, and we saw the photos afterwards. I was sad, but accepted their decision, because that was what they wanted. We had already had two beautiful and traditional weddings the year before, so I considered myself lucky to have seen two of my children get married, and all three had the weddings they wanted. But Meghan didn’t want a quiet wedding far away from everyone, she wanted her mother there and a shedload of tacky, tinsel town celebrities. Nonetheless the crowd cheered and pretty much the whole country watched on television. The British people had taken Meghan to their hearts.
Now, having observed how it has all played out, I think Meghan wasn’t a good choice for him. I can’t imagine that Harry thought he’d have to give up his family, heritage, and his country less than two years later and he’d have to take refuge in a foreign country. Judging by some of the links I’ve seen, the Canadian people aren’t overjoyed that they have chosen to live there. Of course responses have been mixed, but a majority are worried about the financial implications. Plus it’s illegal to hold any title in Canada, so I’m not sure how that will pan out. Will their titles simply be ignored? Who knows!
Anyway, judging by photos released yesterday, Meghan is extremely happy, grinning broadly straight at the camera (the press) and posing for a photo with at the women’s refuge she visited (more press) which SkyNews reported she must have signed her agreement to. Talk about rubbing the British people’s nose in it!
