i am temporarily following this issue with M&H despite being anti Royal...so could not resist putting up a new thread as things develop.
This will be a first for the Royals for sure.

There is more information appearing now on M & H
M wants to continue where she left off with her career and can now ask to be paid in eye watering amounts of money.
That is their plan
She will do it by flogging her Royal status.

Is this really allowed?
Her and H can be in an advert and then seen wearing the product.
This is what they meant by modernising the monarchy.
Tacky is an understatement.

What do others on Gransnet think?

She might pull down the whole House of Cards.

And they were not pushed they have been planning all this for over a year.

Also they have to find about being Taxed, here and in US and possibly Canada, A new world for H.

Post natal depression?
No this was planned long ago.

This is a very scheming woman who knew what she wanted from the beginning.

trisha
Sex trafficking and under age sex lost out in the main stream media long before this story came along.

I don’t think that the H+M situation has got anything at all to do with the Prince Andrew situation. It most certainly has not been brought about simply to deflect attention from Andrew. H+M have brought this situation about. The instigator is certainly Meghan. Did Harry look so miserable before Meghan or when he was dating Chelsea or Cressida? Of course not, Meghan has played Harry wonderfully well. She knew what her end game was, and she has executed her plan perfectly. She was always after wealth and fame, she was never after duty. She doesn’t understand the word. If she did know what duty is, she would never have abandoned her father so cruelly. He made a few mistakes, but how he has paid for them! According to Meghan’s friends and a past agent, Meghan always drops people when they are no longer of any use to her, which explains her father’s situation, and her ex husband’s situation (sent the rings back in the post!)

Don't people understand it's not a conspiracy theory it is about taking advantage of the moment and turning something from a relatively unimportant incident in the RF into a major news item, whilst conveniently forgetting about another family matter that probably involved a lot of people with influence. I suppose it indicates what you can convince people matters most and sex trafficking and underage sex apparently lose out to a media star and a minor prince.

tickingbird Sun 12-Jan-20 12:34:11

Talk about conspiracy theories. I don’t believe this has been carefully co ordinated by all involved to deflect from PA.

Yesterday there was some quite vigorous debate on this topic but now it’s becoming a little silly so I think I’ll withdraw for the time being and wait and hear the outcome of tomorrow’s Royal summit!

pinkquartz Sun 12-Jan-20 12:30:00

Meghan Markle is not a victim. She is a very independent and strong woman.

She also expects to push for things to be done as she wants them to be done, which brings about the clash with the RF who are similarly minded in that they expect everything to be done their way.

Hmmm?

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 12:27:21

Why should we believe ZELO STREET any more than we should believe anything else that is written about H+M? It’s all journalism after all. The royals do have links to the press and do have staff who provide leaks. I’ve never heard of Zelo Street before, why would I regard what’s been written in that publication/website as being more reliable than anything else that’s been written?

Surely the rush is in order to minimise the fall-out and scandal says Sparklefiz

I think the rush is because H and M want to get themselves firmly out of U.K and they need to know what they can and can't do that is at least if they do want to be able to return.

It's the Queen and Prince Philip I feel sorry for because the Royal family are totally rocked by scandal at the moment particularly with Andrew and this is just added pressure.
All we want now is for the Queen to say she is standing down from the throne because it is getting too much for her
and that will be it after all look at the ages of Queen and Prince Philip.

One little thing to add the Royals have the names down for royal babies at Eton even before they are born I suppose young Archie will not require the Old Etonian school as it seems they want to be the new face of changing the monarchy and maybe habits of a lifetime.

Anniebach Sun 12-Jan-20 12:24:41

All this has been arranged to remove Andrew from the spotlight? Harry and his wife planned it or the Queen planned it and Harry agreed to play his part !

vegansrock Sun 12-Jan-20 12:21:29

They could play themselves in the next series of the Crown

Chewbacca Sun 12-Jan-20 12:19:40

Agreed trisher; the art of deflecting attention at its finest.

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 12:19:31

Callistemon it's not the timing it's the press attention. Newspapers are owned by rich powerful men.

Sparklefizz Sun 12-Jan-20 12:12:10

I wonder which of them chose the song "Stand by Me" to be sung at their wedding. I just feel it was Harry! I was in tears over that song because it was so moving.

3nanny6 Surely the rush is in order to minimise the fall-out and scandal.

wicklowwinnie Sun 12-Jan-20 12:12:00

Spot on Trisher. Andrew out of the spotlight!!! We've been here before haven't we? Remember?

Calendargirl Sun 12-Jan-20 12:07:21

I agree Merlotgran about the breathtaking entrance. That Welsh soprano singing to gorgeous music, the way the sunlight dappled through the chapel, the beauty of it all.
Just so, so sad how all the hopes and promise seem to have evaporated in such a short time.

3nanny6 Sun 12-Jan-20 12:05:47

Why is there such a fast move on behalf of government and the Queen to be seen to sort out the H and M saga and make fast decisions on what will be decided about their leaving the U. K.? In technicality Meghan and Archie have in fact already gone and heard yesterday the "dogs" have been flown over to Canada to new home. This has been planned for a long time and I half believe that the other Royals already knew about it.

Sorry to bring it up but we have had over three years trying to sort out Brexit and have got nowhere and it seems that this is getting sorted out in under three weeks and everybody is falling themselves to make sure that M and H get exactly what they want. What about us the people ? oh yes just remembered we don't matter do we.

I feel so sorry for William and Kate, they will continue with their duty to the country and the commonwealth whilst his brother will be doing all he can to destroy them
SLIGHT overuse of hyperbole there, Anniebach. How, pray, do you think M&H's leaving is going to destroy William and his wife?

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 11:54:08
Actually the one thing that I do notice abut the press fury surrounding this couple is that it has succesfully removed Andrew from the spotlight. Now if one was to believe in sex trafficking underage girls and rich paedophile rings, not to mention the death of Epstein, one might think this was very suspicious. Power and influence is not the preserve of the RF alone (although RF individuals may be involved).
Exactly, Trisher. Given that Andrew is the Queens favourite, she must be delighted that he is no longer under attack.

This is all SUCH a storm in a tea cup. None of what we are getting is the truth. No one other than those on the inside knows the truth. All this furore is doing is whipping up the infamy of the absconders, giving them yet MORE selling power in Canada.

I would have thought, given how much GNers have always seemed to hate MM, that you would be glad to see the back of her.

merlotgran Sun 12-Jan-20 11:56:54

She didn't do any lone walking. She walked up the aisle with the two Mulroney boys holding her train and the other little ones walking behind. I thought her entrance was breathtaking.

Callistemon Sun 12-Jan-20 11:55:51

I doubt that it was intentionally timed

However, he must be relieved.

Grandad1943 Sun 12-Jan-20 11:54:56

Meghan is going back into the entertainment industry which will offer her a great and well rewarded future.

Where Harry figures in that I am not sure even he has worked out at this stage. However, with her surrounded by all the glitz and glamour of that world with all its "attractions", I will be very surprised if they are still together in two or three years time.

I do not feel I am being unkind to them in stating the above, but just being somewhat realistic.

It was EMMF1948 who mentioned the lone walk up the steps and said it was look at me

Well, yes, it was her wedding day!!

Calendargirl Sun 12-Jan-20 11:48:24

I think the lone walk maybe refers to her walking that bit on her own before Charles popped up to gallantly lead her to Harry, which was actually really lovely and touching I thought. Shame if it was all part of a master plan.

Callistemon Sun 12-Jan-20 11:44:14

the lone walk up the steps
Weren't her bridesmaids etc waiting for her at the door, as is tradition?
The only tradition that was different was that her father was not there to walk her up the steps and down the aisle because he had 'a heart attack' or whatever it was.

tickingbird Sun 12-Jan-20 11:41:41

Greeneyedgirl and also much more foul mouthed.
