i am temporarily following this issue with M&H despite being anti Royal...so could not resist putting up a new thread as things develop.
This will be a first for the Royals for sure.

There is more information appearing now on M & H
M wants to continue where she left off with her career and can now ask to be paid in eye watering amounts of money.
That is their plan
She will do it by flogging her Royal status.

Is this really allowed?
Her and H can be in an advert and then seen wearing the product.
This is what they meant by modernising the monarchy.
Tacky is an understatement.

What do others on Gransnet think?

She might pull down the whole House of Cards.

And they were not pushed they have been planning all this for over a year.

Also they have to find about being Taxed, here and in US and possibly Canada, A new world for H.

Because trisher, the royal family are the one constant in our country. Prime ministers come and go, the political scene changes....our royals have been at the head of our society for over 1000 years. They are an institution, part of our heritage.

All these people who talk so patronisingly about the Great British Public and sneer at the Daily Mail and its readers (I am one). I would remind you that you are not a cut above us, in fact you are as much members of the herd as we are, you are just as gullible as you perceive us to be, it is just your gullibility is on different subjects, or you think it is.

I think it is Marx - but it’s ‘opium of the people’

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 14:49:12

Has there been bad behaviour or poor behaviour or behaviour that leaves a lot to be desired? Absolutely. Perhaps that’s what you mean when you say good or bad - and perhaps that’s what people get irritated, fed up or annoyed about, especially when our taxes indirectly or directly shore up this extremely wealthy family and their spouses.

Anniebach Sun 12-Jan-20 14:48:15

Not Marx ?

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 14:31:17

So we haven't seen for decades publicity about the RF which always has a Bad Royal in it? Charles and Camilla? The Duchess of Windsor, Fergie etc etc? Some leave and some morph into Good Royals. But none of it is real and none of it makes a shred of difference to their lives or yours. Marx thought religion was the opiate of the masses, in the UK it's the RF!

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 14:17:22

Absolutely SirChenjin.

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 14:17:03

I agree with SirChenjin, I’m afraid I think you’re talking tosh Trisher. Anyway, you’re entitled to your opinion, but so is everyone else on here.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 14:15:45

Exactly maddyone - nothing to do with some concocted good/bad RF excuse.

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 14:14:01

SirChenin is right Trisher. The public do wish them well in their new life in Canada, but NOT at the expense of selling their brand, and continuing to take massive handouts from The Duchy. And by claiming to want to continue some royal duties, no doubt the ones which give them further publicity for their brand, then I’m afraid the public don’t like that. And that much is evident from the posts on here. We are part of the public.
If H+M had simply declined the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, if they had said all along that they wished to live quietly in Canada, and they had gone and got on with living their life, there would have been little in the news about them. That patently is not what they want is it?

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 14:12:54

It's nothing new SirChenjin I realise that for some weird reason there are people who somehow imagine they have some sort of special relationship with the RF (that doesn't actualy exist) and for some reason they become embroiled in things that happen in the RF. But ignoring the Good Royal Bad Royal game is just ridiculous. It's been going on for decades and it bears no relation to reality. Charles was Bad Royal for a long time, so was Camilla. They morphed into Good Royals so replacements had to be found.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 14:08:02

Ill thought

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 14:07:45

What nonsense trisher. I realise that’s the narrative you’re trying to create but the only people who have created this mess is H and M with their childish, I’ll though through flouncing while they hold continue to hold their hands out to Daddy and Granny.

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 14:03:52

Doesn't matter SirChenjin it's all a game of Good Royal Bad Royal. It sells newspapers, it distracts the public, it gives TV 'personalities' and news people work. None of it means anything but the great British public lap it up. You would expect that a few more people would have cottoned on by now.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 13:57:38

You realise there’s a vast middle ground between what they’ve done and sneaking off?

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 13:55:31

Then you'd all be moaning they sneaked off. FFS they are adult human beings who you are at liberty to dislike but really they have a right to live their lives as they wish. Try being as brutal about someone who really deserves your ire. But it's all been done before. Really the games the press plays with the RF and the public are just unbelievable. Can't understand how anyone falls for any of it.

merlotgran Sun 12-Jan-20 13:54:55

Has anyone told the Governor General of Canada that Harry could be after her job?

Anniebach Sun 12-Jan-20 13:30:40

If H & M had cleared off too Canada without their announcement, -they love announcements , I am surprised there wasn’t an an announcement stating we will not make an
announcement of our move to Canada ‘ - there wouldn’t be the same press coverage.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Jan-20 13:30:10

M&H are building a new life in Canada we wish them well

As has been explained over and over and over, majority of people do wish them well in their new life - but not while they appear to be planning that new life based on cashing in on the Sussex Royal brand and handouts from the RF to give them the media coverage they so crave.

JenniferEccles Sun 12-Jan-20 13:16:14

And by the way Harry wasn’t mentally ill, he was grieving.

Grief is not a mental illness.

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 13:06:43

And you don't think that in this case anyone is using their news? Suppose for example the headlines had read "M&H are building a new life in Canada we wish them well"- mm no story! No one to victimise. Prince A remains the baddie!!!

Cotswoldslass Sun 12-Jan-20 13:06:26

Just what I was thinking Maw

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 13:06:14

And incidentally, no one has forgotten about Prince Andrew, but we won’t hear too much about him because he’s effectively been banished from public view. That won’t be the case with H+M though, Meghan will never allow that to happen, she wants to be in the news, but only if she can control how she’s in the news.

maddyone Sun 12-Jan-20 13:03:09

But trisher, in all fairness, that happens all the time. One event or story overtakes another. At the moment, it’s H+M and what’s happening in Iran and who will be the Labour leader. Brexit has almost disappeared from the news, along with Prince Andrew. No doubt it’ll all return, what goes around comes around.

trisher Sun 12-Jan-20 12:58:16

Ah but it helps to have a focus for the public's discontent MerylStreep and the posts on GN prove this- Bad person- Meghan Forgotten- Prince A. It's just awful that it works.
