Harry & Meghan stepping back from RF

It does look as though Meghan has no intention of returning to the UK. The baby and the dogs were left in Canada. She’s left Harry to sort out the mess. I suspect that she’s been planning this for some time. Their website SussexRoyal was registered last March. Poor Harry, he’s been manipulated. He’s lost everything, his family, his country, and his position. She’s gained everything, money, fame, control.

I agree maddyone. The trouble is he appears totally besotted. That may wear off further down the line.

They won't make money from selling their old tat if no one buys it, I would like them to disappear and never have to hear anything about them again.
But leave the titles and tax payers money in Britain.

After the initial 'hurt' which they admitted to feeling, the Queen and P Charles will want to help this family out and I imagine will continue to subsidise their lifestyie wherever they go.
If you had the money to spare - wouldn't you do this? They aren't going to chuck him out and forget him. Would you?

I'm not sure. I may have wanted some input into the design. To be fair, if designed and chosen by a man it may not be quite what I had in mind.

It always surprises me to see films etc where a man proposes and produces a ring and I always think that I would want to choose my own.

Both M and H are independently wealthy - they don’t need help from Granny or Daddy who I’m sure are both very mindful of the outcry this has caused and potential it has to turn yet more of the population away from the RF. If the RF is to survive beyond the lifetime of the Queen they need to consider what is best for the longevity of the institution and not what’s best for H and M’s global brand.

Many people must know the heartbreak of a beloved grandchild emigrating, some never see their offspring again whilst those those who can afford it make visits, send birthday and Christmas gifts, and welcome them home for holidays.
What's so different? He's chucked in his job (working for us) and should lose his wage - its up to him to find another one in his chosen country.

I would be hurt by a similar action, it certainly seemed insensitive at the time.
I think what is niggling me (and no doubt others) is the crass way this whole thing has been handled. If it has been planned for some time then there was time to plan it better so as to maintain goodwill all round and respect the Queen’s feelings.
But as somebody in the Telegraph, I think, said today “Meghan just wasn’t into Britain” So was this the plan from the outset?
Something else which occurs to me is the warm and stable family background Kate provided for William. From reports before the wedding he enjoyed spending time with the Middletons , presumably feeling at ease as part of a relaxed family life he had been denied.
How ironic then when Harry made that comment about Meghan becoming part of a family she had never had - clearly not a family she wanted either.

Yes, I agree MawB, I think that William enjoys spending time with his in-laws and probably feels able to relax there.

Re the engagement ring, I would probably keep smiling and keep wearing it but would prefer to have chosen my own!
