... and planning to be financially independent.
?

I just think maddyone that by now we should have developed more compassion for the young. Opinions can be expressed in different ways.

NanaandGrampy Thu 09-Jan-20 17:14:21

Maybe Harry should consider renouncing his royal title and all that goes with that for the love of a ‘good woman’?

If they do not want all that comes with being part of the Royal Firm that’s absolutely fine but you cannot keep one foot in the camp and one out !

But that isn’t what they want is it? They want out but have registered ‘Sussexroyal* as a domain name etc etc , so you can be sure they will be trading on all they are renouncing.

I think they would have a fair bit without the Queen's money. She is a successful actress and he has money from his father from the Duchy estate. And his mother left him a lot.

Good luck to them BUT it’s unbelievably rude, inconsiderate and ungrateful of them not to have informed the palace first. It’s not just a family, it’s a business and in most businesses one hands in a formal resignation. As a UK taxpayer I will not be happy if they still expect me to pay for their protection - too much having cake and eating it. I also think he should renounce his HRH and pay his taxes to look after those in his family who do the work

Old grannies or not, we’ve all got eyes to see and ears to hear. And we can’t be shut down just because we’re seniors. We have a right to express how we feel, and we have a lot of combined experience between us.
Most of the posts on here reflect how I feel about Harry and Meghan. How anyone can say that they’re a normal young couple and we should all leave them alone defeats me. They are part of the royal family and are funded massively by the taxes we pay. That gives us a right to comment.
Notanan, JenniferE, SirChenjin, Anniebach, Merlotgran, Namsnanny, Tickingbird, Urmstongran, and a whole lot of others too numerous to mention have summed up the situation as it is.
The real problem here is Meghan. She is fame and money hungry. I think she thought that she would be happy with all the fame and money she wanted for the rest of her life. She thought we would all idolise her, not see through her for the money grabbing and selfish person she really is. She dumped her first husband, dumped her boyfriend as soon as she met Harry, dumped her dog when it became inconvenient, dumped her father when he was ill, dumped all the rest of her family in favour of tinsel town celebrities. She is now encouraging Harry to dump his family. I hope he doesn’t regret it, but I won’t be making any bets on it.

* Is there anyone on here who would expect their DH/partner to put their granny's feelings before theirs?*

This is the Queen and without her they’d have nothing. After the things I’ve heard today I hope she strips them of their titles so M is no longer Duchess. Let’s face it the Queen and Prince Phillip are nearing the end. They wouldn’t have had to wait very much longer.

Just to add I don’t blame them for wanting to go it alone and get out of the limelight but as this story unfolds there seems to be an element of spite behind it.

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 17:11:08

that was to Chestnut

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 17:10:46

Wouldn't put it past the general public if Twitter and lot of this thread is anything to by! grin

MissAdventure Thu 09-Jan-20 17:10:37

Good luck to 'em, I say.
Beyond that, I don't care, because they have no impact on my life.

Xxjanexx Thu 09-Jan-20 17:09:47

I feel sorry for the queen...it’s almost like she given up with all the rifts that are going on.

As for PH and MM I’m just going to watch and wait, but I do feel the marriage is very one sided.

Chestnut Thu 09-Jan-20 17:08:46

their waxworks have already been removed from Madame Tussaud's
Maybe to protect them in case of vandalism? hmm

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 17:07:44

That's quite right Chestnut. I have read a lot of it. sad

grannymy Thu 09-Jan-20 17:06:51

I always remember my mum saying "oh I wish he'd have married someone "fresh," as in someone who wasn't married before." I told her it was a sign of the times and that couples don't stay together these days as they possibly did many years ago. My mum has always liked Harry.

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 17:06:39

Can't believe it about about their waxworks - one strike and you're out! grin

Chestnut Thu 09-Jan-20 17:05:59

lucywinter: How can a bunch of old grannies be so down on a young couple?
Think you should explain yourselves.
No-one is going to explain anything especially for you. The posters on this thread have explained their thoughts and feelings in some detail already. You just need to read through it.

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 17:04:27

Well, she is really. Maybe his little family and their future are more important to him than royal protocols.

Fennel Thu 09-Jan-20 16:59:57

I haven't read all this thread, but I wish them well. We don't all have to conform to the same mould.
Canada is a great place, I have cousins there.

SirChenjin Thu 09-Jan-20 16:58:55

Is there anyone on here who would expect their DH/partner to put their granny's feelings before theirs?

The Queen is not ‘just’ his Granny though, is she.

grannymy Thu 09-Jan-20 16:58:40

Craftyone when I hear that it makes me angry that he came across to the rest of us as being a lovely young man. I know a couple of people who know Prince Andrew and they said he was an arrogant git, so it was no surprise to me when I found out the latest revelations about him.

I think they should do what they want to do in life, but after reading numerous reports I really do hope that Meghan truly does love him for who he is. Call me old fashioned.

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 16:57:47

Yes, it was quite pompous of me wasn't it tickingbird. grin

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 16:56:59

Is there anyone on here who would expect their DH/partner to put their granny's feelings before theirs?

tickingbird Thu 09-Jan-20 16:55:46

lucywinter who are you to demand that this ‘bunch of old grannies’ explain themselves?

Floradora9 Thu 09-Jan-20 16:55:34

Had to smile their waxworks have already been removed from Madame Tussaud's ,

craftyone Thu 09-Jan-20 16:55:31

I met someone the other day who was with Harry in the army, they said that Hs behaviour was truly attrocious, not just over the top like many youngsters. No more detail from me but he certainly isn`t the sweet innocent person that he likes to appear. Him and sparkles have been very cunning and conniving and have many business interests already. I for one, resent paying a penny of my tax towards security or anything else. They are never going to be truly happy. She spends her time acting and he looks permanently downtrodden

lucywinter Thu 09-Jan-20 16:54:58

What have the pair of them done to make the public like them

The tours - even when she was pregnant?

I have never been to Vancouver Island but I imagine it is a beautiful place. I don't think they would have been bored.
