Megan was warned by her close friends about marrying into 'the firm'. Was she really so blinkered to think she wouldn't have to adapt and conform?!

I can't help thinking that she has manipulated Harry with "I want to go home, I don't fit in, no one asks if I'm ok" well, join the club Megan, countless women and men have felt exactly the same. She showed her true colours over the issue with her Dad and his absence from the wedding so it's hardly surprising the way things have turned out. Behaving like a spoilt brat certainly does not win support from the masses!

She has a choice, she can contact her father and mend bridges, Harry has NO choice, he has lost his Mum so I can quite understand his feeling of loss.

Sorry Megan, you don't get my sympathy! Open your eyes, accept what you signed up for and start acting like a grown up rather than a stroppy teenager who couldn't go to the school disco!

To be honest I couldn’t care less what they do, what I do care about is if they continue to take taxpayers money and I also feel they should pay back our money they had for the renovations to their home, haven’t they thought about spending some of the millions they have in their own bank accounts.
If they want to act like normal people then start by spending your own money like we have to.

In a normal job if you get a generous relocation package you must stay there for 5ish years or repay your relocation grants either in full or on a sliding scale. Same should apply to frogmore: back pay market rent for the 2yrs too

It wasnt even about her not wanting to conform. It was about the expectation that the RF and British people would want to change their ways by listening to her inspirational soundbites.

Many interesting points of view here and a great deal of speculation. As I see it, there has been a massive failure of timing and communication which hasn't done the couple any favours. If Meghan had taken time, before her marriage, to fully acquaint herself with the reality of Royal life before she took it on, things may have been different for her. This is precisely what the Duchess of Cambridge did - being Waity Katie was exactly the right thing. It is reported that Prince William advised his brother to take time before rushing to marriage and Meghan has spoken of her friends telling her "not to do it".
The impression I got from the Palace's statement yesterday was that the Royal family are concerned about Harry's mental health and do not wish to be seen to be taking any punitive measures. However, matters of Royal protocol are going to be very difficult to untangle. Harry and Meghan would have had a great deal more public support if they had waited until those matters had been discussed and clarified before making their statement. Their disrespect to the Queen has been staggering.

Neither of them "get my sympathy" - but neither do they get my vitriol and hatred. They are a young couple trying to decide their best course in life. Meghan is barred from working in her chosen profession at which she was highly successful; and she is the butt of cruel comments in the media (and on Gransnet!) - why would she want to stay? She is the product of a broken home with the all the problems that this can entail; her OH is the product of a seriously dysfunctional family - so they have real challenges on their hands.

Let us leave them in peace to find their own way through life - I am sure they are very conscious of the need to be good parents to Archie, and that might best be achieved at arm's length from their problematical families.

OK - he is rich and so is she - that does not mean they have no emotions.

I know that the ramifications of their decisions are greater than ours; but at base they are just a young couple wanting to plough their own furrow.

The Queen (although to be fair she's probably too old now) could do with compartmentalising on-duty and off-duty times and expect to fit in with the family like most grandparents have to when off-duty.

Luckygirl He is not just any normal grandson. With great privilege goes great responsibility. The Queen is not only our Head of State but also head of the Royal Firm and what she says goes. It is naive to suggest otherwise.

There is a post saying that Meghan is beautiful and if she was plain the press would not hound her.
That is coming from MacGran43. In that post there is also reference to Zara Tindall who is Princess Anne's daughter, I have seen many photos of Zara either going out publicly or at her horse riding events and I view her to be very attractive and a good looking young woman just as much as Meghan.
Several posts have remarked on Zara going out of the limelight possibly because of her really sad miscarriage which in fact I saw a small mention of it in one tabloid.
Let's be fair to Zara who after all would want that publicised
as it certainly was a most upsetting time for her. Happily she had another baby after that so good luck to her.

I have no problem with them stepping away but the way the announced to the world before telling the Queen shows the upmost disrespect and the TIMING was poor for Kates birthday.
Harry is worth 30million money from his mum and Queen Mother's estate.
So they should pay for their own security they can't have it both ways.

Why do you need to ‘plan towards being financially independent’ when you have 15 million in the bank and 2 million more a year from your dad? Personally, the whole royals thing can go, but if he wants to duck out, fine, go - but - take no more money from the taxpayer. Pay back the millions we, for some reason, were expected to pay for your Windsor mansion, fund your own security, then it’s no one else’s business.

P.s. wont be writing any boring reports on the meetings I do attend.

I spoke to my brother on the phone last night after seeing some photographers talking to people and shop owners over near Windsor Castle. My brother is a resident living in Windsor myself and him had a laugh about the Meghan and Harry saga and today my brother is visiting the castle to leave a detailed letter for the Queen plus Harry and Meghan as he is getting fed up with all the gossip in Windsor sorry to make a joke but I am getting bored with it now because do we really care?

I think P.Harry is playing out a fantasy of "rescuing his mother" by supposedly rescuing his now wife.

Only it's not possible because the past is the past. At age 12 he would have idolised his mother and never seen any failings in her.
Hence his hatred of the press.

I have no idea where this ends but it is a well thought out plan.
They registered their new business name last March and they would have been talking about it before then.
No wonder she was so extra smirky during her 3 day stay in the UK.
