Archie was left in Canada because Meghan was intending to return there straight away.
It looks as if they had planned this over the six weeks so it is a fait accompli, setting up their Brand Sussex - without checking whether or not Harry can retain the Dukedom.

And there we all were thinking they were having a nice holiday away from media pressure.

As Ive said throughout this thread, this is not how a normal person quits something or renegotiates things.

Surely H needs M now! Unless Archie is sick why would she leave him now when he's just s** on his "family business" from a height?

Why did she bother flying back at all if shes now going to run away from the confluct she created?

Harry is not going to able to cope with the fallout from all this. His mental health is not up to it.

Why did Meghan leave Archie in Canada with their nanny and come back for a couple of days just to fly straight back again leaving Harry to negotiate the terms of the mess she has played a part in?

I did wonder about the announcement from the palace that a solution needed to be found quickly. I believe they are seriously worried about Harry.

it will take days not months to sort things out.

Harry seems to be acting like a petulant teenager and Meghan, according to tonight’s news, has already returned to Canada!
What are they playing at?
Is it conspiracy theory to wonder if she was not prepared to play second fiddle to Kate -younger, but senior in Royal terms, and that counts?
I think from what we as the public saw, the Queen went out of her way to welcome Meghan into the family and to show her approval. Fair enough they may be surrounded by stuffy courtiers, but H and M are adults and can surely cope?
I fear we are seeing “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets” and that saddens me as it sets no example to younger people or those in less privileged walks of life.

I assume she has already returned to Canada because the baby was left behind with a friend.

I think so maddy we speak of the abdication but not of the pain of Queen Mary, Edwards brothers, The Queen and Margaret, they all loved Edward. They will not want Edward’s life for Harry.

In addition gmarie, what I personally find particularly despicable, because I could never do it, is the way Meghan has disposed of her family, just as if they were so much rubbish, and easy to discard. And now, she appears to be encouraging Harry to do the same.
Her father adored her and supported her through school and university. She has cast him to one side without allowing him to speak to her, or see his grandchild. Would you like that if it were your family?
Meghan would receive more compassion if she behaved compassionately towards her own father.

maddy just my opinion, the royals will let him have what he demands for 3 reasons.

1. He like his mother is unbalanced.

2. He gets what he wants but there will be things he will do or
not do in return.

3. They will not cast him adrift , the Queen loved her uncle David,
Margaret named her son David. The Queen would have allowed her uncle to come back to England as he aged, her mother wouldn’t allow it, Charles made secret visits to his g uncle in France.

They are human beings , quite as capable of love as the rest of
us. Harry has only been married 2 years, early days in a marriage! The royals will not let Harry live in excile as Edward
did.

gmarie, I don’t think anyone on here wishes anything for them that’s not good, everyone wishes them happiness. But many people are/will be upset by the blatant hypocrisy, the me, me, me behaviour of Meghan, the way Harry has changed since he met Meghan, by her obvious desire for wealth and fame, by the ‘sorry for themselves ‘ attitude when they are some of the most privileged people in the world, and so on. It’s all here in this thread, it’s clear what people are thinking.

Her fathers story was reported. That doesnt qualify automatically as "criticism"

It does sound as if they want the best of all worlds.

Retain my own opinion and perspective as an outsider and still wish them well as I do the rest of the Royal Family and you lovely Gransnetters.

MissAdventure, they have stated that they wish to remain both private and yet still perform some royal duties. And that Frogmore Cottage will remain their base in the UK.

They will keep Frogmore. They will receive money from
Charles. They will keep their titles. They will attend family
occasions. They will have a mansion in Canada. They will
visit commonwealth countries on official visits .

Oh I forgot, they should relinquish their titles and all claims to the throne as well.

MissAdventure, you may very well be correct that if they can’t do royal they should withdraw. But if they’re not doing royal they should not take as a much as a single penny from the Sovereign Grant, or any of our taxes to pay for their security, and they should give back their royal home, Frogmore Cottage. And most of all they should remove the name SussexRoyal from their website and not use the royal brand to endorse or sell anything. Then they should retire somewhere, and apart from royal family weddings or funerals, we should never hear about them, or see anything about them ever again. They should become completely private individuals just like you or I.
That is what not doing royal actually means.

I'm not sure anyone knows all the details of what perks they'll be expecting, especially as even the queen has only just found out what's going on.
